RUSH: Let\u2019s go to the audio sound bites on this. I want to take you back to Monday, and I want you to all listen again to what I said when we learned on Monday<\/a> that there was this super-secret serum that was used only on two white Americans. Serum, by the way, derived from tobacco, from nicotine, a special tobacco plant, rapidly growing tobacco plant in Kentucky. Think Mitch McConnell, think, ooh, gosh, the left has gotta hate every aspect of this serum. There\u2019s no good that can come from tobacco. And here we may have a miracle serum for Ebola that comes from tobacco? Here\u2019s what I said.<\/p>\n

RUSH ARCHIVE: Where did this come from? Who knew? And wait \u2019til the rest of the world hears about the fact that we\u2019ve got it and that we took it to Liberia but only used it on a sick American and didn\u2019t share it with sick Liberians. Wait \u2019til Obama finds out about that. Folks, there is gonna be hell to pay. When Obama finds out we got this super-secret thing that does something magical to Ebola, and we took it to Liberia and used it on an American and then brought him and the serum home and we didn\u2019t share it? This is exactly what has been wrong with this country that Obama\u2019s been trying to fix.<\/line><\/p>\n

RUSH: Exactly. Selfishness, greed, doing everything for us, leaving the poor of the world poor, leaving the sick of the world sick, but protecting and curing ourselves. I knew it wouldn\u2019t be long before the media started asking, “Wait a minute, wait a minute, now,” and, sure enough, last night in Washington at the State Department, Obama held a news conference, and here\u2019s a question from the AP, White House correspondent Julie Pace.<\/p>\n

PACE: There\u2019s been a lot of discussion surrounding the summit about the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, and there\u2019s an untested and unapproved drug in the US that appears to be helping some of the Americans who are infected. Is your administration considering at all sending supplies of this drug, if it becomes available, to some of these countries in West Africa? And could you discuss a bit the ethics of either providing an untested drug to a foreign country or providing it only to Americans and not to other countries that are harder hit, if it could possibly save lives.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Do I know these people or do I know these people? And of course she\u2019s late to the party. CNN was the first to make my prediction come true on Monday night. This was last night. Now, here is Obama\u2019s answer to that question.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: We\u2019ve gotta let the science guide us and, you know, I don\u2019t think all the information\u2019s in on whether this drug is helpful. What we do know is that the Ebola virus, both currently and in the past, is controllable if you have a strong public health infrastructure in place. And the countries that have been affected are the first to admit that what\u2019s happened here is that their public health systems have been overwhelmed. We\u2019re focusing on the public health approach right now because we know how to do that, but I will continue to seek information about what we\u2019re learning with respect to these drugs going forward.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Folks, if you\u2019ll forgive me, I have to parse that answer. I\u2019m sorry, but I just can\u2019t let that one go. “We\u2019ve gotta let the science guide us,” and next we\u2019re gonna hear how the science isn\u2019t gonna guide us. “We\u2019ve gotta let the science guide us, and, you know, I don\u2019t think all the information\u2019s in on whether it\u2019s helpful.” Yeah, we only have a couple of patients, and so far it\u2019s been near miraculous, but we don\u2019t know enough yet. What we do know is that the virus is controllable if you have a strong public health infrastructure in place, like we do. If you have an advanced, first world health care system like Obamacare, then we can handle all this. <\/p>\n

And then this is the technique that just drives me nuts. “And the countries that have been affected are the first to admit that what\u2019s happened here is that their public health systems have been overwhelmed.” You know what that is? Let me tell you what that is. Obama is putting words in their mouth. Obama is standing up, saying, there\u2019s no way these dirt poor countries are gonna get this drug. And then he says, and they don\u2019t want it. They know they\u2019re not good enough for it. <\/p>\n

<\/a>That\u2019s what that means, when he says, “And the countries that have been affected are the first to admit that what\u2019s happened here is –” What he\u2019s trying to say is, “And the countries that have been hardest hit are the first to admit they don\u2019t even want it. They don\u2019t even have the infrastructure to know what to do with it,” and I\u2019m telling you, those countries would take that serum today, if it were offered. <\/p>\n

This is a technique. Bill Clinton perfected this technique. And Obama has perfected it. He\u2019s built on it. It\u2019s a variation of the straw man. You put words, in the straw man example, you create somebody that doesn\u2019t exist, you give them a point of view that they can\u2019t obviously have, they don\u2019t exist, a point of view that agrees with yours. You make it look like you\u2019re part of this giant majority of thinking. Well, in this case, you got a reporter saying, “Why don\u2019t you share it? Why don\u2019t we send it over to those countries?” And Obama\u2019s not going to, for whatever reason. Either we don\u2019t have enough or he doesn\u2019t want to or whatever. <\/p>\n

But he\u2019s not gonna stand up and say, “We\u2019re not gonna share it.” He\u2019s gonna stand up and say they know they don\u2019t want it. They know enough to know that they don\u2019t know what to do with it. They know enough to know that their health care systems are so shoddy that they wouldn\u2019t be able to use it anyway. So he\u2019s hiding behind them. These three African countries, he\u2019s gonna deny it to \u2019em. But he wants everybody to believe that they are telling him that they don\u2019t want it. That\u2019s what that means. When you hear him say anything like this ever, “And they\u2019ll be the first to admit, these countries that have been affected by this, they\u2019ll be the first to admit that what\u2019s happened here is that they\u2019re a bunch of hellholes and they don\u2019t know what they\u2019re doing and they\u2019re not worth saving and they can\u2019t get this.” <\/p>\n

It\u2019s outrageous, this kind of stuff. It\u2019s gutless. It\u2019s the straw man argument. He just can\u2019t stand up and say, “No, it\u2019s not the right time. No, we don\u2019t know enough.” He\u2019s got to lay it off on them. And I doubt that they\u2019ve said to him, “By the way, Mr. President, we don\u2019t want your serum.” I doubt they\u2019ve said that.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Let me ask you a question about this. You have the three African countries where the Ebola outbreak is severe, Sierra Leone, Guinea, I forget the third one, but this answer of Obama\u2019s that Julie Pace said, “Why aren\u2019t you giving it to them?” He says, “Well, I think they would agree, I mean, they\u2019d been the first to tell you that,” da-da-da-da-da. Folks, I can\u2019t tell you how that kind of answer just infuriates me. The countries that have been affected would be the first to admit they don\u2019t even want it. They\u2019d be the first to admit they\u2019re not qualified to get it. It\u2019s just gutless, it\u2019s lay it off on them. You know, these media types, “Why aren\u2019t you sharing? They\u2019re the ones who are really suffering from it, and we have the serum, why don\u2019t you let \u2019em have it?” <\/p>\n

“Well, even they would tell you that they –” so why doesn\u2019t he? <\/p>\n

Let me ask you a question. What do you think… (interruption) Well, now, no, no. Do you think that Obama is actually saying that these African countries are too damn backward to waste the serum on? (interruption) What is it? Do you think we don\u2019t have enough and we can\u2019t afford? I mean, if that\u2019s the case, why can\u2019t he just stand up and say, “Look, we don\u2019t have enough. We\u2019re fighting to create the stuff, it\u2019s hard.” (interruption) Okay. Okay. Well, because it\u2019s new. He could make the case we don\u2019t have enough, it\u2019s experimental, it\u2019s only been used on monkeys.<\/p>\n

He could make the case we don\u2019t have a lot, but instead he chose to lay it off on them. He chose to make it look like they don\u2019t even want it. They\u2019re smart enough to know that they won\u2019t be able to use it. It\u2019s absurd. This kind of thing is what we do. The United States is always first. I have to tell you, there\u2019s never been an Ebola-infected patient in this country until now. The way this all happened, something about this didn\u2019t gel for me when I learned we were gonna go over there and get these two missionaries and bring \u2019em back here. I\u2019m not opposed to it, no, no, no. We\u2019ve never done that kind of thing before. We\u2019ve treated them there. And it\u2019s not about bringing the virus in. That\u2019s not my concern here. It is a lot of other people\u2019s, but is he really unwilling to share it because those countries aren\u2019t worth it? They\u2019re too damn backward to waste it on? <\/p>\n

I mean, this is so out of character for a big, compassionate country. This is why these people are asking him, because these people all believe that Obama\u2019s just like them. Big liberals share everything. It\u2019s not fair that we should have it and they shouldn\u2019t. They\u2019re the ones really suffering, and if we\u2019ve got the answer, then we should share it. Here\u2019s this guy denying it to them. And I think some in the media are probably a little surprised over this. They\u2019ll never say so. This is just my ruminating here. But I can\u2019t believe that he would actually think that they\u2019re too damn backward to waste the serum on. <\/p>\n

They\u2019d be the first to agree. That\u2019s how the technique works. They\u2019d be the first to tell you that they\u2019re too backward and dumb to know what to do with it. Or, they\u2019d be the first to tell you that their health care systems are so decrepit and so backward and so foul that it would just be wasted on them. That\u2019s what he was trying to convey. <\/p>\n

Why do we help \u2019em with AIDS? Well, Bush did that. Bush is the guy<\/a>, Bush is the president who authored, quote, unquote, all the aid money to Africa for AIDS. It wasn\u2019t Bill Clinton. It wasn\u2019t some Democrat president. It wasn\u2019t some Democrat senator. It was George W. Bush that did that. No credit for it. The caricature of what a big-hearted, compassionate liberal is, this is so out of character. (interruption) I got Snerdley shouting in my ear now. (laughing) “What\u2019s Obama done for black people here or there?” I hear you. And we got Peter Kirsanow<\/a> today writing that letter: If you have these people granted amnesty, you\u2019re gonna destroy employment for blacks and so forth. <\/p>\n

That letter was sent from a black member of the Civil Rights Commission. Look at teenage black unemployment, or black unemployment all over, 19%, teenage black unemployment is higher than that. I don\u2019t know. That answer, as you can probably tell, really, really rubs me wrong. (interruption) I know. I know. His brother still lives in a hut. I know. His brother lived in a six-by-nine-foot hut in Kenya. I know. But he has never said, “And my brother would be the first to tell you, he doesn\u2019t want my help.” He hasn\u2019t even tried that on his brother, but with these people (imitating Obama), “And they\u2019ll be the first to tell you that, hell, they don\u2019t know what do with it.” Anyway, I think it\u2019s really, really instructive and illustrative and indicative.
