RUSH: Back to our old buddy Peter Beinart<\/a>. He was on CNN last night with Erin Burnett OutFront, and they were talking about whether the Clintons are out of touch<\/a>.<\/p>\n

BEINART: The problem for people who are really wealthy is when you can match up their personal wealth with their policy and say, as Barack Obama did about Mitt Romney, he\u2019s personally out of touch because he hangs out with rich people and his policies are gonna benefit the rich. Now, if Elizabeth Warren ran against Hillary Clinton from the left in the Democrat Party, she would say exactly that, it could hurt her. But in a general election with a Republican candidate who\u2019s not likely to be able to argue that their policies are better for the poor than Hillary Clinton\u2019s, I don\u2019t think it\u2019s as much of a liability.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And you see, right there is the sum total of the problem. We are living Democrat policies to the max. T<\/a>he economy contracted 3%<\/a>. People are out of work. A hundred million people aren\u2019t working. We are living under Democrat policies, and the country is going to hell! We are living six years under Democrat policies. People have lost their health care. They have lost their jobs. They have lost their ambition. They have lost faith in the country. They\u2019ve lost faith in themselves. Young people are hopeless. They\u2019re not optimistic. They\u2019re not ambitious. The Southern border is wide open<\/a>. We are entertaining an inflow of a further group of people that\u2019s uneducated and poor. <\/line><\/p>\n

We are putting pressure on middle-class people and the job market unlike it\u2019s ever seen before. All of this is Democrat policy, and yet what do we get from Beinart? Mitt Romney\u2019s policies would hurt the poor. Mitt Romney hangs around with rich people. Who the hell are the Clintons hanging around with? Who the hell is Obama hanging around with? Where do they vacation? Martha\u2019s Vineyard? Who the hell lives there? Cape Cod? Who lives there? They\u2019re not hanging around average people. They are the rich, and they\u2019re hanging around the rich, and they want to be even richer. <\/p>\n

And yet here\u2019s Peter Beinart saying (imitating Beinart), “Well, yeah, Mitt Romney, his policies benefit the rich. That\u2019s all he cares about. He hangs around the rich, and the Republican policies, all they\u2019re gonna do is help the rich.” What the hell? The rich are getting richer, the income gap is getting wider, the poor are getting poorer, the economy is shrinking, and it\u2019s all happening after six years of unchecked Democrat policy. That one sound bite is the sum total of — and there\u2019s no push-back. There is nobody in Washington, as a Republican, who will stand up and even get close to saying what I\u2019m saying here to push back against this. <\/p>\n

The Republicans run around with their tails between their legs acting guilty about hanging around with the rich and policies that only benefit the rich, and it\u2019s BS. Ronald Reagan was one of the most popular Republican presidents ever. Take a look at what happened to middle class income and wealth accumulation during the 1980s. Everybody benefited, everybody did well. It was an economic boom that lasted into the nineties. <\/p>\n

Beinart simply does not know what he\u2019s talking about. He\u2019s just rattling off a bunch of protected, given syllables, saying what you\u2019re supposed to say when you live inside the Beltway bubble of conventional wisdom with no independent or creative thought whatsoever, and it\u2019s all drivel and bilge, in addition to being flat-out wrong.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
