RUSH: Prince Charles, you talk about wasted space on the planet. Man, oh, man, this guy was in London last night during the Inclusive Capitalism Initiative conference on inclusive capitalism. The Inclusive Capitalism Initiative conference on inclusive capitalism, and he proceeded to rip capitalism to shreds, as he understands it. And in the process, what Prince Charles did is confirm something I\u2019ve been saying for 25 years, that modern environmentalism became the modern home of anti-capitalists and communists when the Soviet Union fell. It was one of my updated 35 Truths of Life. Prince Charles comes along and veritably admits this.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: First an ally in the anti-capitalist movement, Prince Charles last night in London during the Inclusive Capitalism Initiative conference on inclusive capitalism. We have two sound bites of the Prince of Wales. Here\u2019s the first.<\/p>\n


\nCHARLES: The primary purpose of capitalism should surely be to serve the wider, long-term interests and concerns of humanity rather than the other way around. So critically, it would require the incorporation of environmental externalities. We would have to account properly for carbon dioxide emissions, the use of water and fertilizer, the pollution we produce, and the biodiversity we lose. All of these would have to be comprehensively considered in our economic and national decision making because inclusive capitalism cannot be truly inclusive if our dependence on natural capital, the economic invisibility of nature is not also included in our calculation.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I know it\u2019s a bunch of gobbledygook. Do you want me to try to explain this to you, or is it stand alone entertaining by itself? (interruption) It is. He obviously thinks that he knows more than anybody else, smarter than anybody in the room, and he\u2019s making absolutely no sense.<\/p>\n

The bottom line is he really doesn\u2019t know what he\u2019s talking about. He\u2019s trying to dress up just total, unabridged socialism and make it sound like it\u2019s erudite, intellectual, very exclusive, very elite. (imitating Prince Charles) “Be allowed to talk about such things in polite company, otherwise might not be bright enough, smart enough to even understand what we\u2019re talking about.” Which in truth means you are so smart, there\u2019s no way you could figure out what he\u2019s talking about because not even he knows.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s the first thing that struck me. “The primary purpose of capitalism should surely –” I\u2019m sure you would agree with me when I — no, do not say that. “The primary purpose of capitalism should surely –” What, surely? “– be to serve the wider long-term interests and concerns of humanity rather than the other way around.” What is the other way around? Let\u2019s see if we can find it in this sentence. The primary purpose of long-term interests and concerns of humanity should surely be capitalism? No, he doesn\u2019t mean that. That\u2019s what he\u2019s arguing against. But that is the other way around.<\/p>\n

“The primary purpose of capitalism should surely be to serve the wider long-term interests –” Oh, you mean rather than the shorter? The shorter-term interests or concerns is the other way around? All right. “So critically it would require the incorporation of environmental externalities.” See, at that point you\u2019re supposed to be so dazzled by what he\u2019s talking about, you hopelessly can\u2019t understand it, but you are gonna think the guy knows what he\u2019s talking about.<\/p>\n


\nLook, in a nutshell, Prince Charles here is calling for an end to capitalism as we know it in order to save the planet from global warming. What he\u2019s trying to say here, and just doesn\u2019t want to say it point-blank, is that he thinks capitalism is destroying the world. Where is there any capitalism in the world today? What is destroying the planet? If you want to accept the premise the planet\u2019s being destroyed, how are we gonna define that? Well, he\u2019s talking about environmentally. Okay. You go to any totalitarian, socialist, fascist, communist country, and you\u2019re gonna find more pollution per capita than you would ever hope to find in a free market capitalist society, by definition. That is inarguable.<\/p>\n

Besides the United States, where does this full-fledged capitalism take place? It\u2019s not Europe, and throw Australia in, South Africa? It used to be Hong Kong. But the United States is pretty much it. And so, what does that mean? The United States is destroying the world, see? The United States is destroying the planet. You know, the only problem with the world is the unequal distribution of capitalism. That\u2019s the real problem. But to somebody like Prince Charles the problem is the unequal distribution of resources. Well, to me it\u2019s the unequal distribution of capitalism. What economic system has produced the world\u2019s greatest, biggest, freest superpower? I mean, I resent having to even ask this question. I sort of resent having to even point it out. But such is the state of education today that it\u2019s necessary.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right, let me point out again: I\u2019m not attacking Prince Charles. I am defending. I was minding my own business today. I was doing what I do every day. I was doing show prep. Prince Charles was not even on my mind. The royal family — which happens to be the biggest welfare case in the UK, by the way.<\/p>\n

The royal family is the biggest welfare case in the UK. Of course he\u2019s going to like socialism. All monarchs do. It\u2019s how they survive. But now Prince Charles is out there attacking capitalism as the root of all evil in the world, and I\u2019m not just gonna sit idly by when I know it to be false. So I remembered something vaguely in the deep, dark crevices of my fertile gray matter.<\/p>\n

I remembered something about Prince Charles and tampons. But I couldn\u2019t quite make the connection, \u2019cause I don\u2019t think about that every day, either. So I went to my trusty computer and I searched it and I found out what I was remembering. It\u2019s a UK Daily Mail story, February 28, 2008. It was during the inquest into the death of Princess Diana, and it was discovered during this inquest that the residence of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles had been bugged.<\/p>\n

It doesn\u2019t matter by whom. It is what was learned. “Details of the tampering emerged during a secret investigation into the recording of Charles\u2019s highly intimate late-night mobile phone conversation with Camilla in 1989. A transcript of the ‘Camillagate\u2019 call was made public in 1992, weeks after news had broken about the ‘Squidgygate\u2019 tapes involving Diana and James Gilbey.<\/p>\n

“It caused huge embarrassment to the royal family as it included details of how the prince had told his lover that he wanted to be her ‘tampon\u2019.” Prince Charles, who ripped capitalism to shreds and blamed it for the evils of the world last night, was overheard telling Camilla Parker Bowles “that he wanted to be her ‘tampon.'” That was a compliment!<\/p>\n

That was supposed to be a sign of how deep was his love and commitment for Camilla Parker Bowles that he dreamed of being her tampon. Not panties. Not… Tampon! This is the guy running around ripping capitalism, blaming it for global warming. Here is the second sound bite we have at the Inclusive Capitalism Initiative Conference on Inclusive Capitalism. Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, is pretty much admitting here what I have observed for 25 years.<\/p>\n

CHARLES: We stand at a pivotal moment in history. Either we continue along the path we seem collectively determined to follow, apparently at the mercy of those who so vociferously, aggressively deny the that our current operating model has any effect upon dangerously accelerating climate change — which I feel will bring us to our own destruction — or we choose to act now before it is finally too late; using all of the power and influence that each of you, ah, can bring to bear to create an inclusive, sustainable, and resilient society.<\/p>\n

RUSH: (impression) “Pivotal, pivotal moment in history. Do we continue along the path we seem collectively determined to follow apparently at the mercy of those we…” Again, it\u2019s more gobbledygook. But we must act “before it\u2019s too late…” It\u2019s always “before it\u2019s too late,” and “time is running out!” He said we must use “the power and influence that each of you, ah, can bring to bear to create an inclusive, sustainable, and resilient society.”<\/p>\n

It\u2019s just another way of describing statism, totalitarianism, you name it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Increased standard of living, capitalism.<\/p>\n

CALLER: There you go, in a nutshell.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Television, capitalism. Cell phone, capitalism.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yep. Greater good of humanity. Made my life a lot easier.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, but see, he\u2019s a monarch. He\u2019s the biggest welfare case in all of Britain, and his family. You wouldn\u2019t expect him to actually be a staunch supporter of capitalism. I mean, he wouldn\u2019t know what to do out there.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, I know it\u2019s all gobbledygook, but like you had said, but everything — I mean, you can say okay, you know, there\u2019s — I was gonna mention the internal combustion engine as capitalism.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: But that\u2019s part of his problem right there, pollution. But 99% of capitalism, perfect.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, in addition to defining it, the superiority of capitalism in terms of providing the most for the most is indisputable, but that\u2019s to miss the point. What the prince is doing, in addition to besmirching it, impugning it and so forth, he\u2019s essentially blaming it for a hoax. And it\u2019s irresponsible because, sadly, the Prince of Wales, Prince Charles, I mean, they\u2019re big in People magazine and the E! Entertainment network, and Princess Di. A lot of people think they\u2019re smart and know what\u2019s going on. They have influence, and it\u2019s irresponsible what he\u2019s doing.
