CALLER: Yeah. Hey, look, I\u2019m about to lose my health insurance because of Obamacare. I\u2019ve had it for almost 20 years. I have an autoimmune disease, and now the insurance I have through my employer helps me cover the cost of that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Why are you gonna lose it?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Because of Obamacare.<\/p>\n

RUSH: But what specifically about it? Is it the cost? Is it not covered? Is it a preexisting condition? Why are you losing it?<\/p>\n

CALLER: The whole crew here is gonna lose their health insurance.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Everyone that works for my boss.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Ohhhh. Okay. So your employer is getting rid of the benefit?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: ‘Cause he can\u2019t afford it anymore?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes. I have an autoimmune disease, and I take infusion treatments every six weeks, and I have a list of medications that I also have to take orally. And without my health insurance, I\u2019m in the hospital. Not only do I want to keep my plan, I actually need my plan.<\/line><\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I thought you could keep it because Obama had put a hold on people like you losing your coverage for a couple of years.<\/p>\n

CALLER: As far as I know, I\u2019m still gonna lose my health insurance.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, you\u2019re losing the paying agent.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, and I\u2019ve been to the Obama website. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Are you losing your job?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No.<\/p>\n

RUSH: So, theoretically, you could cancel your cable bill or your cell phone and then buy your insurance yourself. ‘Cause that\u2019s what Obama said.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, look, even if I were to cancel both of those, I still would not be able to afford the premium that they want a month to cover me.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh.<\/p>\n

CALLER: To top it off, when I end up in the hospital — which is exactly where I\u2019ll end up, because that\u2019s where I started — guess what he\u2019s gonna do? He\u2019s gonna fine me for not buying something I can\u2019t afford.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, but it\u2019ll be less than what you would have paid if you had bought it. Gotta look on the bright side. Now, I know it\u2019s tough. What are you gonna do? What are you your options as you\u2019ve looked at them?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, my options are to not get health insurance, which will put me in a hospital.<\/p>\n

RUSH: But you can\u2019t afford it?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019ll have to stop taking my medicines.<\/p>\n

RUSH: But you can\u2019t afford to treat yourself. You can\u2019t afford to treatment if you don\u2019t have insurance, right?<\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s correct.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Have you gone to HealthCare.gov?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I sure have. I sure have gone to HealthCare.gov.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, there\u2019s another option you have. This idea, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Obama himself have mentioned this. It\u2019s that you could choose to become liberated from work, \u2019cause right now, look at you. You\u2019re locked into a job just to get your health care, and that\u2019s unfortunate. But now since the job doesn\u2019t provide you health care, you can quit and then you can discover the joy of unemployment.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right. And how does one pay for their other bills?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, you discover your inner poet or artist —<\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughing)<\/p>\n

RUSH: — and you go try to get a subsidized policy at an exchange.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Wow. Yeah, right. So what do people like me do, Rush?<\/p>\n

RUSH: People like you are losing their insurance. People like you are being canceled left and right. It\u2019s in the millions. I\u2019m gonna tell you something. This has come up a number of times. This kind of stuff, it does two things: It breaks my heart and infuriates me, because you\u2019ve done nothing.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You haven\u2019t done anything. You have sat around and you\u2019ve listened to your president tell you that your health care system\u2019s broken and he\u2019s gonna see fix it. I don\u2019t care whether you voted for him or not, he\u2019s breaking it. You are probably a guy who has tried as hard as you can your whole life to play by the rules.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, correct.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You stay within a moral code and all that. You\u2019re probably one of these guys, you work hard and you do what\u2019s necessary to get you job done. You tried to do it well.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: This kind of stuff is happening to people like you all over this country.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right. Yes. So what do people like all of us do? I am not a passing news story. I\u2019m a human being and without my treatments —<\/p>\n

RUSH: I know, but to them you\u2019re a stat, you\u2019re just a statistic, you\u2019re a number.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

<\/a>RUSH: And in Harry Reid\u2019s case, you\u2019re a liar<\/a>, Harry Reid says that —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right, Harry Reid, oh, he burns me up with that. Oh, he burned me up when he said that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, he said you\u2019re lying about —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, he sure did.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — and everybody else telling a story like you are lying.<\/p>\n

CALLER: He sure did say that. Well, I got news for him. We are not lying. The person who\u2019s lying is the president.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah. In the meantime, all that does you nothing. You\u2019ve got an autoimmune disease that you need —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — constant treatment for. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: This is not something you can go to the emergency room when you need it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No. Absolutely not. Every six weeks they hook me up to a system that infuses me with a drug called Remicade, and that\u2019s just the infusion. That\u2019s every six weeks. And then there\u2019s a list of other medications I have to take orally every single day.<\/p>\n

RUSH: When does your policy cancel?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m not absolute for sure, but in several months.<\/p>\n

RUSH: So you\u2019ve got some time here to try to come up with a substitute or replacement?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I do, but every direction I go I get nothing. I\u2019ve written Senators. I\u2019ve called the Obama plan. I\u2019ve called the state plan. It seems like I just keep going and going and going —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Humor me. Why can\u2019t you replace this? Why haven\u2019t you found another group to join that gets you a premium that you can afford?<\/p>\n

CALLER: A group. Where do I find a group?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, normally an insurance company would help you find a group to become a member of.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I have run into no such help. I\u2019ve talked to private insurance companies. It seems like I\u2019m at a brick wall where the president of the United States says: We don\u2019t care if you end up in a hospital. And then on top of that we\u2019re gonna fine you for not buying my insurance plan.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Scott —<\/p>\n

CALLER: If I like my plan, I can keep my plan. Well, obviously, I can\u2019t.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Scott, just so people know, would you, if you don\u2019t mind sharing, would you tell people what a single infusion of Remicade costs?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Six thousand dollars.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah. Six grand.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yep.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And you need one every six months?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Every six weeks.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Every six weeks.<\/p>\n

CALLER: The cost of the medication is outrageous, but through the insurance plan that I have through my small-time employer, I can manage the cost. I\u2019m not saying it\u2019s great, but I can manage it. The cost isn\u2019t even double or triple or five times when I went to Obama\u2019s health.gov.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It was unbelievable.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I know. Everybody\u2019s discovering the premiums are doubled, the deductible is tripling.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s a horror story.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s a horror story. And I\u2019m absolutely horrified because I was in the hospital last year, and I was in there for over two months for them trying to get me under control. And now that they finally have —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay, what did your employer tell you, if he told you, is the reason that he\u2019s cancelling —<\/p>\n

CALLER: The memo said — I\u2019m not making this up. Due to Obamacare, I will no longer —<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — cover your health insurance.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay, it means he can\u2019t stay in business and comply —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Correct.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — at the same time. That\u2019s what that means.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Correct. So ever since that memo came out I\u2019ve been absolutely horrified. I don\u2019t want to be in the hospital.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I know.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I want to stay where I\u2019m at. I want to keep working.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Look, this infuriates me. There\u2019s no excuse for this. This wasn\u2019t broken, and your guy, your boss would not have to cancel if it weren\u2019t for the fact that Obama\u2019s transforming health care system. I would expect you\u2019d be mad at your boss more than you sound, but you sound like you\u2019re fairly informed. That\u2019s what Obama\u2019s hoping, is you\u2019re gonna blame the boss, Scott. I\u2019m really sorry. I\u2019ve gotta go. I\u2019m way long on the segment. I hear stuff, I don\u2019t know what to do.
