RUSH: Here\u2019s Scott in Manhattan Beach, California. Hi, Scott. Glad you called. Great to have you. Hello.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi, Rush. Thanks for taking my call.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You bet, sir!<\/p>\n

CALLER: All right. I want to try to tie three things together here. Michelle Obama is taking off today for China with mother and children, and they\u2019re not allowing any reporters to go. Just recently, Russia has shut down several of their websites which I guess are anti-Putin\u2019s government. The other thing that Obama has done is taken our control over our Internet and given it to the globalists. All of this ties into the First Amendment, freedom of the press\/speech, and not allowing reporters to go with Michelle Obama. She\u2019s not there to give interviews or anything else. So this sounds like it\u2019s a completely personal trip, yet they\u2019re sending Secret Service and planes and we\u2019re paying for it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Let me throw another one into your mix here. Have you noticed, Scott and the rest of you, that there is no more investigative journalism taking place? I mean, that\u2019s the reason reporters would want to get into the news business. You know, 60 Minutes, all it did is that. There is no investigative journalism, other than of Republicans. But even that, there isn\u2019t any taking place, at all. The primary reason most journalists go into the business isn\u2019t happening. Scott, hang on. I want to continue talking to you after the break as we add that little bit to the mix.<\/line><\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: We rejoin Scott in Manhattan Beach, California. Before I expand on my addition to your scenario, what\u2019s the point that you\u2019re making? Okay, no media going with Michelle to ChiComs.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, the point that I\u2019m making is that we\u2019re losing the First Amendment. And in applying the theorem, right, the Rush-Levin theorem here on Barack Obama, if he can\u2019t shut the Internet down, and he gives the Internet control to the world government people —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — they can shut it down and Obama can say, “I didn\u2019t have anything to do with it.” It would be the same thing, you know, you\u2019d shut down the Drudge Report and Breitbart and all the good websites, but further, if Obama decided to give the FCC control to the world government people, he could shut down talk radio. And now you\u2019re looking at him finding ways to just get around this First Amendment. If the First Lady goes on our dime to China and she\u2019s there on vacation, why are we sending Secret Service? Why are we sending our planes over there and not sending press?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, now, now, now. Just because you don\u2019t send the press doesn\u2019t mean you don\u2019t send security for the First Family.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, I do understand that. But I\u2019m just saying like there\u2019s nothing that they do that\u2019s not on our dime.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, there\u2019s no question. I mean, these people are living lavishly like nobody\u2019s business on our dime. But, you know, the media, strangely enough, is like you; they\u2019re irritated that they can\u2019t go with Michelle. And some of them are saying that it\u2019s an access thing. Once you lose access, you don\u2019t get it back. Once they establish the precedent that they can go and shut you out, then how do you get back in? Remember, now, these people want to get in and kiss butt. They don\u2019t want to cause trouble for them, and even at that the Obamas are keeping them out.<\/line><\/p>\n

CALLER: Right. Well, they did recently, the Obama administration, reduce or completely eliminate any photography done by press and the Obama administration will be releasing only their version of photos that they want.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And that went quietly underneath the rug, too, and now we\u2019re seeing this, and now you\u2019re not sending the press with Michelle Obama.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Now we\u2019re giving up the control of our Internet and I think the FCC —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, you know, about that, I\u2019m still not sure what actually has happened. I\u2019m not sure exactly how much, quote, unquote, control we have given up in this Internet thing. I don\u2019t know if we just gave up the power to determine domain addresses or if it\u2019s actually bigger than that. I haven\u2019t been able to find out, but I mean a lot of people agree with you that we\u2019re giving away control of the whole thing.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Let me tie this in with something you just said. Once you give up control, you never get it back.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You never get it back, exactly. See, here\u2019s the thing that people — you can\u2019t make \u2019em believe it, Scott, no matter what. They have to live it and experience it in their own way to believe it. We cannot, no matter how good we are, persuade low-information people that we are being governed by people who really don\u2019t think this is the greatest place on earth and wouldn\u2019t be unhappy if they could undermine it. You just can\u2019t convince people of that. They have to experience it themselves, be it with Obamacare or whatever else. <\/p>\n

Now, let me add my other ingredient, an observation. It\u2019s a Drudge observation. It hit him the other day that there is no investigative journalism going on, absolutely none. It used to be the reason that journalists became journalists. Investigate people, find powerful people and hold \u2019em accountable, destroy them, if you can, whatever. You know, 60 Minutes, Woodward and Bernstein, investigative journalism. You walk down the hall of any j-school, ask \u2019em why they\u2019re there and they\u2019ll say: “I want to make the world a better place,” or “I want to spread equality,” or “I want to do investigative journalism.” But that\u2019s it. There isn\u2019t any. Why? <\/p>\n

The reason why is because the Department of Justice, Eric Holder, has made it clear that they will prosecute both the journalists and their sources. Now, you might say, “Well, nothing new. They did that to Judith Miller.” Judith Miller was at least doing investigative journalism on what was going on in Iraq and weapons of mass destruction. There isn\u2019t any, and it\u2019s not just that the media is treating Obama with kid gloves. The Snowden thing, look at that. There\u2019s no investigative journalism at all, because they\u2019re scared to death. The media\u2019s scared to death of the DOJ going after them and their sources. So add that to everything else you mentioned and Obama is really succeeding at intimidating and distancing the media. So there really is no legitimate coverage of him.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay. So Eric Holder recently took the FBI off of Harry Reid for not only investigative journalism, we had the FBI starting to probe Harry Reid, and the Department of Justice came in and pulled the FBI off of Harry Reid.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, and somebody else. I forget who else.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It was Mike Lee, too, was the other one in the story there.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s right, the Republican Senator.<\/p>\n

CALLER: So not just investigative journalism, and then you\u2019ve got Dianne Feinstein, “don\u2019t spy on me.”<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah. Well, she found they were droning her.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, something like that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, and she didn\u2019t care if anybody else gets droned, but once they start droning members of Congress, “Hey, hey,” now it\u2019s serious, and we gotta shut it down.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Exactly. Scary stuff.<\/p>\n
