RUSH: Keith, Lancaster, California, I’m glad you waited. You’re on Open Line Friday. Great to have you here.

CALLER: Thank you very much for having me, Rush.

RUSH: You bet.

CALLER: I want to talk a little bit about Arizona. And first of all I want to say that the boycotting of Arizona is nothing but propaganda. Second of all, I think Mayor Villaraigosa and Barbara Boxer and Nancy Pelosi and the gang are all pickpocketing these people that come across the border and I consider that slavery because they pay into our system, and they don’t collect the benefits. So I consider that slavery.

RUSH: You mean you’re accusing leftist supporters of illegal immigration of being slave traders?

CALLER: That’s correct.

RUSH: Because they don’t pay them very much money?

CALLER: And they pay into our system and they don’t get the benefits.

RUSH: Well, see, that’s where a lot of people would disagree with you. In California, they actually had a ballot initiative to eliminate welfare payments, education, and health care benefits to illegals. And it won. A federal judge overturned it, said it was unconstitutional. I think a lot of people think one of the problems with illegal immigration is they do get the benefits. And they’re not paying anything for ’em.

CALLER: Well, I don’t know. I just kind of feel that these people come across and they keep, you know, they — the… I feel that the Obama administration and all that want these people to come and go across the border as they please so they work in this country and they can pick their pocket and a their money. I just feel that for me that’s slavery, in my book.

RUSH: I don’t know they’re picking their pockets. There’s not much in their pockets. Whatever they earn they send back home. I’m not trying to be funny. That’s why they’re coming here. They don’t have much in their pockets. There’s one reason that the political class wants these people here, and it’s not complicated. In fact, it’s so simple that it’s unbelievable. They want their votes. If not their votes, they want the votes of their ethnic brothers and sisters in the Hispanic population. You can see it in Dingy Harry. Dingy Harry is in big trouble in Nevada, and now they’re pushing for the amnesty bill. And Dingy Harry’s theory is that he’ll benefit greatly and be supported by Hispanic voters in Nevada because he’s for amnesty for their brothers and sisters. It’s all about votes — and especially Obama.

Look, I don’t care what public face they put on it, they can read the polls and they know that they’re toast in November. I mean even now, 63%, for example, of Americans want to repeal health care. The momentum against it is growing. In fact, I’ve got a story here in the stack about one state is going to try to invalidate it on the merits of it. But here. The easiest way to understand illegal immigration is this, and why the political class doesn’t want to do anything about it. Right now the theory is that over 50% of Hispanic voters vote Democrat. If it were otherwise, if polling data indicated that the arriving illegals were over 50 or 60% prone to vote Republican, there would already be deportation going on. Numerous Acela trains and tracks would have been built.

There’d be one-way trips from Phoenix, San Diego, San Antonio, Ciudad Juarez, El Paso, all the way down past Mexico, all the way past Nicaragua, all the way down to Peru, if they were going to vote Republican. But since they’re going to vote Democrat, the Democrat Party is gonna treat them as a domestic minority: Victims of a mean-spirited, racist and bigoted majority in this country. ‘They’re just searching for a better life. (sobbing) Who are you to deny them a better life?’ If they wanted a better life as Republicans? Ha! Nobody would give a rat’s rear end about their quest for a better life. Now, the Republicans. ‘Well, what about the Republicans?’ because the Republicans think there’s a chance to get ’em. Republicans… Look at the Republicans’ efforts in 2007 to support amnesty there. (doing angry McCain impression) ‘If we show ’em, Limbaugh — if we show ’em we’re on their side — they may vote for us! We need their votes, too! We can’t let the Democrats have ’em.’ So it’s the political class lined up against the American people, as always.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Illegal immigrants send more than $30 billion a year back to Mexico. There is nothing in their pockets to pick. The way to understand amnesty out there: Amnesty is the single largest voter drive in American history. That’s all you need to know about it. That’s all it is, folks. It’s not based on anything humanitarian, it’s not based on anything oriented toward, ‘They just want a better life.’ It’s not based on, ‘We in America want to share our bounty and open our doors to all who want to be here.’ It’s not about that at all. Amnesty is the single largest voter drive in the history of the United States. Don’t doubt me. I’m telling you. It sounds so simple that you say, ‘It can’t be that,’ and oftentimes, ladies and gentlemen, the simplest explanation is what’s correct precisely because it is simple.
