RUSH: Grab audio sound bite number 26 first, Mike. I didn’t know we’d get to this this early. I asked Cookie to put together a little montage here of all the stuttering around that Obama did in his press conference today and I want you to hear this because — and we didn’t repeat anything here. It goes 46 seconds, and we’re doing this because we hear constantly, ‘What a great orator and a great communicator! Ohhhh, this man is smooth!’ Just listen. This is a great illustration here of what happened when you take the teleprompter and your prepared remarks away from the dude.

OBAMA: Uh, uh, are, uh, uh, uh, um. That’s — that’s a bunch — so — so let me tick these off. Deh… Uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, um, uh. So the issue is not a perception that, uh… Weh, weh, let me put it this way. Uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, We’re — we’re trying to — you know, we’ve got a bipartisan group here and — and — and, uh, uh, uh, uh, um, uh, uh, uh.
RUSH: Now, this is nothing new to me, folks. I have been noticing this throughout the whole campaign, throughout the whole primary campaign. When this guy’s doing a press conference, he’s doing a town meeting, ‘Uh, ah, uh, ah,’ and everybody talked about what a great orator he is. Today it reached the boiling point with me, with all this pap coverage that he’s getting, and all the lies the media telling about this guy and how he’s the prime mover behind all these policy changes over there. I’m watching him stutter around outside at this press conference, speaking so slowly, without any energy. He can barely be understood. He’s babbling about things I can’t even keep up with. I have no idea what he’s saying ’cause I don’t know what the questions were. But there was nothing dynamic about this press conference today. I think the dynamism left this campaign and this guy a long time ago. He’s living off a legacy here, and I think some borrowed time. Let’s now go to the audio sound bites. This is this morning in Amman, Jordan. The Messiah is lecturing his disciples in the press on their questions.

OBAMA: With respect to the surge, you know, we don’t know what would have happened if the plan that I put forward in January 2000 — How many questions — okay. That’s a bunch. I’m going to have to get a pen for all these triple questions you guys are — you know, it-it-it’s always a bad practice to say always or never. These are difficult questions. I’m just trying to get to everybody. I’ll take the second question first. I’ve been very clear on that. I — I was gonna save some of these comments until I — I actually have these conversations tomorrow. Uh, it wasn’t that we were avoiding the issue. I need you to speak up. You were speaking up very loudly when you wanted me to call on you.

RUSH: Now, it’s a montage, but this is The Messiah lecturing his disciples how he is to be queried. Now, we goofed up and it’s always my fault even when it isn’t. We goofed up here. I want to start this from the beginning, and we’ll stay in order from here, but this is a montage of The Messiah lecturing his disciples in the media on how he is to be approached; the kinds of questions he’s to be asked and all of that.

OBAMA: How many questions — okay.

RUSH: Yeah, all right. Now, that’s how the whole press conference sounded to me. That was not an answer to a question. It was just Obama lecturing the disciples. But that’s how the whole thing sounded to me. Not just his tone, and not just his temperament, but the fact it didn’t make any sense. I’ll give you an example. This is a press conference. I don’t know if this is in response to a question, ’cause we couldn’t hear the questions, they didn’t mike enough members of the traveling press core known as the disciples. But he’s talking here about the surge.

OBAMA: With respect to the surge, you know, we don’t know what would have happened if the plan that I put forward in January 2007 to put more pressure on the Iraqis to arrive at a political reconciliation to begin a phased withdrawal, what would have happened had we pursued that strategy. I am pleased that as a consequence of great effort by our troops — but also as a consequence of a shift in allegiances among the Sunni tribal leaders as well as the decision of the Sadr militias to stand down — that we’ve seen a quelling of the violence.

RUSH: Good god!

OBAMA: Everywhere we went, one of the biggest concerns right now is the fact that you’ve got scores of unemployed Iraqi men — uh, and women — who are not getting the kind of opportunity that I think is going to be important.

RUSH: What in the world? Ladies and gentlemen, do you know what you just heard? Do you hear what The Messiah did? Do you hear how he explained the success of the surge? He first went back and said, ‘Well, we don’t know if my plan to force them to get politically active would have worked because we never got there,’ but my plan would have been better, is what he’s implying. Then he goes on to say, ‘Yeah, there’s some great work by the troops, but what really happened here was there was a Sunni awakening and the Shi’a militia, they stood down.’ Does he think that the Sadr army and all of these disparate groups coming together just happened as a coincidence? Does he think something happened in the Iraqi government that made this happen? This guy is a jerk. This is a jerk, ladies and gentlemen, a pure jerk! The success of the surge is what made all this political stuff happen.

But wait! But wait, there’s more! I’m confused. Because isn’t the line from Pelosi and Reid that the Iraqis ‘have not met the political benchmarks’? And here’s The Messiah undercutting ’em. The Messiah just threw them under the bus by crediting the Iraqis’ great success in getting their political aspect together — and since they got their political act together, became a strong functioning government — why, all these warring factions said, ‘Okay (clapping), we’re through fighting. We’re going to come together and we’re going to split up the spoils.’ How in the world does he think that happened? I’m at a loss for a word. It’s worse than deceitful. It is a flat-out lie, and he understands it. This is pure politics. He is meddling in the success of an American military operation and diplomatic operation. He is right in the middle of it trying to screw it up. And once again, a prominent Democrat, this time their presidential nominee is dissing, openly, the efforts and the success of the United States military.

RUSH: Look, folks, I don’t want you to misunderstand me here. Obama can say whatever he wants, and I’m still going to get infuriated when he lies and when he impugns the honor and integrity of the men and women who pulled this off. He is so incapable of saying, ‘I misjudged this, I made a mistake,’ and move on. He’s so incapable of understanding the people of this country love the US military, the people of this country love victory. They may want this war to end, but they don’t want to lose it. And he’s gotta run around and say, (paraphrasing) ‘Well, if they’d adopted my idea back in 2007, it probably would never have come to this, but they didn’t adopt my idea.’ He hasn’t been involved in any of this. He’s been involved in one thing, and that’s trying to secure defeat. He can run out there and lie all he wants in trying to cast the real victors here as the tribesmen of Iraq. He can do that all he wants. The problem I have is when this sycophantic, slavish, Stalin-like media decides to promote, publicize as fact everything this little messiah happens to be saying, because he has no gravitas, he doesn’t know what he’s talking about, but they are going to elevate him to statesmanship status if it’s the last thing they do. That’s the one area McCain has some strength.

You know how bad this is, one of the things Obama’s been doing, Obama’s been moving closer and closer to McCain on issues. There have been stories in the media about how they pretty much agree on things, global warming and all that sort of stuff. And now here’s Obama with the help of the media preempting the one strong suit McCain has, competence, statesmanship, leadership in foreign policy and defense. This is no accident. It is very deliberate of the left here. They cannot abide American success in any way in any theater. Obama is no different. We are succeeding in Iraq because of the tribesmen, because of the Shi’a and the Sunni, and, of course, the political benchmarks being met by the Iraqi government, not the US military, not General Petraeus, not our strategy there. We won the Cold War and the Soviet Union collapsed not because of Reagan’s strategy and execution, but because of Gorbachev. And, well, he was just inevitable. They still give Gorbachev the credit for ending the Cold War. They hate the United States being successful in any theater, particularly military operations. Obama is no different. I’m peeved. This makes me mad as hell to see this. Here’s another bite. This is The Messiah talking about his judgment.

OBAMA: I don’t have doubts about my ability to apply sound judgment to the major national security problems that we face. These are difficult questions, and, you know, I don’t think that anybody believes they have the perfect formula for solving some of these very difficult foreign policy problems, but I feel very confident in my worldview and my ability to — to shape a discussion that takes all arguments and facts into consideration and then come up with the best answer.

RUSH: That is so frightening. I told you yesterday, he’s got no concept of the ideological makeup of these enemies that we have. He thinks everybody’s just got different ideas, and all ideas are good ideas because we put ’em all in a hopper, shake them up and come up with a consensus. He has no doubts about his ability. ‘To apply sound judgment to the major national security problems we face, difficult questions. I don’t think anybody believes they have the perfect formula for solving some of these –‘ oh, they don’t? I thought you did. And I thought the Drive-Bys were putting you up to it. By the way, Cookie just told me that the 46 seconds of montage that we have on Obama stuttering is just part of it. If she did all of them, it would take a three minute bite. I told her to do it. Here’s how it sounds again, ladies and gentlemen. Listen to this.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: The Note, ABC’s The Note, gets it right and then drops the ball. ‘Obama Gets Benefits, Not Blame, But McCain Could Find a Toehold Yet.’ This is all about this Iraq trip, and they’re right. It’s infuriating that little Barry is getting the benefit of all the work that Bush has done. That’s why I’ve been saying he’s pimping Bush’s ride here. George Bush has been the only constant when it comes to Iraq and the war on terror. Barry’s party, including Barry, have done their best to sabotage it and secure defeat. Now he gets to run around over there and claim the credit for this and get the credit for having all these brilliant ideas. Back to the audio sound bites now, from Obama’s press conference in Amman, Jordan, today, and I want to replay this one.

OBAMA: With respect to the surge, you know, we don’t know what would have happened if the plan that I put forward in January 2007 to put more pressure on the Iraqis to arrive at a political reconciliation to begin a phased withdrawal, what would have happened had we pursued that strategy. I am pleased that, as a consequence of great effort by our troops — but also as a consequence of a shift in allegiances among the Sunni tribal leaders as well as the decision of the Sadr militias to stand down — that we’ve seen a quelling of the violence. Everywhere we went one of the biggest concerns right now is the fact that you’ve got scores of unemployed Iraqi men — uh, and women — who are not getting the kind of opportunity that I think is going to be important.

RUSH: Since when — and I mean this. Since when, Senator Obama, did you and your party start giving a rat’s rear end about the people of Iraq? Because to listen to you people over the course of many years, we should never have gone in there. We shoulda left them under the dictatorship of Saddam Hussein with the rape rooms and the genocide, the mass murders, the poisonings. We shoulda never gone in there. Now all of a sudden you care about the Iraqi people? You cannot give the US military credit no matter what! You cannot give your own country credit. You just can’t. You Democrats cannot do it. You have to credit Maliki. You have to credit these tribesmen, the Sunnis and the Sadr army for ‘standing down.’ Yeah, they got their political act together. Yeah! Cool! Right on! What do you think made that happen, dork?

The surge made that happen! The United States military made that happen. He sits around and says, ‘Well, they’ve done a great job of quelling the violence.’ How do you think that happened? You know how it happened, Senator Obama. He does, folks. He’s a liberal. He cannot credit his own country, cannot credit his own military. And then to be worried about unemployment in Iraq? I’ll bet the unemployment rate in your neighborhood, your community in Chicago is about as high as it is in Iraq. If you haven’t noticed, there’s all kinds of foreign investment going on in Iraq. I’ll bet you haven’t noticed it, Barry, because your buds, your disciples in the Drive-By Media have not been reporting this. It is maddening! Here’s the next bite. And again, we couldn’t hear the questions in this press conference. They weren’t miked, so we don’t know what the questions were. We just have the answers. And here, ladies and gentlemen, The Messiah says it’s unrealistic to think that he can solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict just by snapping his fingers.

OBAMA: There’s a lot of history that exists between those two people. Uh, that history is not going to vanish overnight. People’s memories are long. There’s been bloodshed, and disputes that date back generations. Uh, and so I think it’s unrealistic to — to expect that a US president alone can suddenly snap his fingers and bring about peace in this region.

RUSH: Good Lord, ladies and gentlemen. Good Lord. It obviously means that some dummkopf reporter asked him when he was going to make peace between the Israelis and Palestinians, and The Messiah — now, wasn’t this really brilliant, too? ‘Well, there’s a lot of history exists between these two people.’ Really? We didn’t know this before! ‘That history is not going to vanish overnight.’ Really? That’s another thing we didn’t know! ‘People’s memories are long.’ Woooow! You realize the force of the intellect here we are in the company of, ladies and gentlemen? Do you realize the unique brilliance of this man, Obama? ‘There’s been bloodshed and disputes that date back generations.’ Hey, Obama, try centuries. Now, this is the uniter. This is the unifier.

This is the guy who has made everybody believe he’s going to snap his fingers and Iran’s going to love us, and the Israelis and Palestinians are going to love each other and Chavez is gonna love us and Castro is going to start sending us cigars legally. All he’s gotta do is snap his fingers! Just his presence alone. That’s what he’s told his followers. He doesn’t have voters. He has a flock. He has his disciples. And I’m wondering which one will become Judas. ‘It’s unrealistic to expect that a US president alone can suddenly snap his fingers and bring about peace in this region.’ What? What? And we are supposed to react to this how? Oh, we never thought of that. Thank you for enlightening us, Senator Obama. It’s going to take more than a snap of the fingers?

You see, Obama, we remember when Bill Clinton’s number-one visitor to the White House was Yasser Arafat. We remember Jimmy Carter. We remember every president trying to broker peace between these two. The dirty little secret, Senator Obama, is that nobody else in the Arab world wants peace. They want the Palestinians in the exact shape they’re in: destitute, poor, and militant. The oil sheikdoms want it. The Jordanians want it. The Syrians want it. The Iranians want it. Because they can then tell their own populations, ‘It’s the Jews’ fault! Look how they’re treating the Palestinians.’ There is no Arab country in the world that will take the Palestinians. They don’t want ’em, either. But I thought you could come along and snap juror fingers, Obama (snapping fingers), and bring peace. It’s what you’ve led all of your stupid, idiotic followers to believe.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I want to go back and mention something to you. The Lord Messiah, Barack Obama, the Most Merciful, has said, has he not, ladies and gentlemen, we need 10,000 at least, 10,000 more troops in Afghanistan, right? He said we need more troops, we need a surge. We need more troops. We have dropped the ball. We need more troops. So someone needs to ask Senator Obama, ‘We used more troops in Iraq, and it worked, but you won’t admit it. You say that it was political pressure. Well, why send more troops to Afghanistan, Obama? Why not just pressure ’em? Let’s just pressure ’em. In fact, why don’t you just cut to the chase and surrender? That’s what you wanted to do in Iraq. Where’s the consistency of your policy?’ All right. He continued here in this next sound bite, talking about Israel. Remember, when we last left The Messiah, the boy king, he admitted that he could not solve Israeli-Palestinian peace with a snap of his fingers. And this next bite was the continuation. Listen carefully.

OBAMA: Let me be absolutely clear. Israel is a strong friend of Israel’s. It will be a strong friend of Israel’s under a McCain government, administration. It will be a strong friend of Israel’s under an Obama administration. So that policy is not going to change.

RUSH: Now, we all know that he didn’t mean to say Israel is a strong friend of Israel. But who was he talking about? Was he talking about us? Was he talking about America? It will be a strong friend of Israel under McCain government, administration, a strong friend of Israel under an Obama government, administration. So that policy is not going to change. Really? Did somebody think we were going to abandon Israel, has that been brought up? Did Obama feel the need to address that? Where do you fit in the Obama religious spectrum, ladies and gentlemen? Are you orthodox Obama? Are you fundamentalist Obama? Are you evangelical Obama? Maybe you’re reform Obama, meaning you converted. So you convert from the Algore sect to the Obama sect. I don’t know who said it, if anybody really did say it. Chesterton, somebody, but it’s becoming more apparent in real life, if you don’t believe in God, you will believe in anything. And I’ll tell you, there are quite a few people in this country who apparently do not believe in God. They are either orthodox Obama, fundamentalist Obama, evangelical Obama, or reform Obama.

Okay, to the phones. Time to go to the phones. People have been patiently waiting. Mike, San Antonio, Texas. You’re up first. It’s great to have you with us, sir. Hello.

CALLER: Yes. Good afternoon, Rush, and mega retired Air Force dittos from San Antonio. I think what’s really pathetic about this is Maliki throwing Bush and our military under the bus, the very people who liberated that country and kept him in office while Obama and his Democratic buddies would have turned the place back to Al-Qaeda at least two years ago. My son’s an Air Force pilot, he’s been over there seven times, and when I think of all the guys that have served, those that we’ve lost and been wounded, I wonder, is this the kind of appreciation that they’re going to get for their efforts over there? It makes me furious and makes me question whether we ought to just get them out of there now. I mean Obama’s first plan, you know, was to get them all of out of there in 60 days, that’s before we won the thing. If that’s a good idea two years ago, why wouldn’t it be a better idea today?

RUSH: You know, about Maliki, when I first heard this, I said something’s gotta be wrong here. The more I looked into it, I said no, he meant to say what he said, the Iraqis meant it. But they backtracked a little bit here and nobody is saying 16 months now. They’re talking about 20. This whole withdrawal time horizon, definite date certain, all that is bad news. I don’t care who’s in charge, that’s just an invitation to the bad guys to hide, take it easy, rearm, restock, and then we start pulling out of there, move back in. But I don’t know that Maliki was throwing us under the bus. It’s too complicated for that. There’s this thing called Iraqi internal politics. And Maliki is no different than any other politician anywhere. I mean he’s going to shore up his position first, and whatever he’s talking about here in terms of our troops getting out of there is first and foremost an internal Iraqi issue. I know some people think that somehow the Obama camp got with Maliki and they timed all this to happen when it did, this Der Spiegel interview and so forth. I think that’s just an unfortunate circumstance because at the end of the day, at the end of the day, folks, and don’t doubt me on this, look at me, don’t doubt me, at the end of the day, Nouri al-Maliki is going to do what we want, whether it’s Obama in the White House or whether it’s McCain or before the election Bush, this is just public posturing over there for the Iraqi people and a number of other things for internal Iraqi political purposes. At the end of the day, he knows who’s protecting his life and saving his life and he’s going to do what we want at the end of the day. So it’s unfortunate it happened, I agree with you.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Now, Cookie cut it down to seven-and-a-half minutes, eight minutes is just too long. Seven-and-a-half minutes. We’re not going to be able to squeeze it all in here. I want to hear this myself. What this is, not one repetition of one stutter from Barack’s press conference in Amman, Jordan, this morning. It started about ten o’clock. I watched it, my friends, and I was struck by all of these. You know, the context here is, ‘He’s such a great orator, such a great communicator! The guy just penetrates you with his oratory and his language.’ Now, listen to this.

OBAMA: Uh, uh, I also want to thank, uh, uh, uh, the, uh, this, uh, well, uh, uh, eh —

RUSH: Seven and a half minutes of this.

OBAMA: — uh, uh, uh, you know, uh, uh, uh, uhh, is…? Uh, is of — of their work, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, we, uh, uh, I called, uh, uh, and I’m — I’m — Uh, with, uh, uh, as, uh, that, uh, and uh, uh, um, uh — And we have to do this, uh, uh. As — as well as, eh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh. Well, uh. I, uh, uh, uh, um. We, uh, and, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh. Uh, now, uh, right now and then identify if — if, uh, you want to, uh, uh, uhhhh. Ummmm. That’s — that’s a bunch. Umm, so let me tick these off. Um, it is true that, uh, uh, uh, uhhh, uh, uh. What, uh, uhhh, uh, and, uh, uh, in I-iraq, uh, uh, are seen as, uh — and so, uh, uh, uhhh, uh, uh, and if I was — i-if I were in his shoes, uh, uh, uhh, and so, uh, a, uh, um, uh, from some — someplace else, uh, theeee, uh — and, uh, t’see, uhhh, that, uhhh —

RUSH: Okay, folks, we got a lot more.

OBAMA: — and, uh, t’see, uhhh, that, uhhh —

RUSH: I don’t have time to squeeze it all in here.

OBAMA: — uh, to see, uhhh —

RUSH: We’re going to let it keep running. We’re going to go to a profit center time-out.

OBAMA: Uh.

RUSH: We’re going to let it keep running. It will still be playing when we get back.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: The Obama montage of stutters from the press conference today is still rolling, folks.

OBAMA: Uh, oh, uh, aaaand, uh, the way, for example —

RUSH: We have not stopped it.

OBAMA: — uh, eh, eh, uhh, uhhhh, uh, and — and, uh, because it — it — uh, and, uh, on the other hand, uh, I — I — I think that, uh, uhhh, uhhhh, uh, uh, uhhh — and so I think what the United States can do i-is — is — is to, uh, uhhh, uhh, there — there’s been, uh, uh, ah! I am so, uh, uh, uhhh, uhh — that — that — uh, aaaand, uh, uh, uh, uh, eh, that uh, so, uh, uh, and, a-a-and, uh, and that’s what I think is so important. L-l-l-l-let me, um, um. I’ll — Uh, um, um, uh, um, would — would…? Um, uh, um, um, uh. I — I think that, uh, uh, uh, um, uh. With its — And so, um —

RUSH: It’s not going to end in time for the show.

OBAMA: — um, uh —

RUSH: It’s still going to go. It’s still going.

OBAMA: And so, um, uh…

RUSH: It’s going to be going another two minutes.

See you tomorrow, folks. Adios.
