CALLER: Oh, I wish I could say the same. It’s very frustrating, Rush.
RUSH: Oh, no.
CALLER: It… it’s… You know, I’ve been a listener of yours since ’92, and, you know, you open the show talking about the conservative intelligentsia that —
RUSH: Yeah.
CALLER: — has sold out with presidential candidates from the Republican Party and how they missed the Arab spring and all this kind of stuff. But you hit the left really hard but you seem to soft pedal this criticism of these liberal Republicans, and it just frustrates me to the core. You know, I… Since ’92 you — you’ve been very good, but the landscape’s changing, and I’m really concerned that you’re not changing with it. If we don’t beat back these liberal Republicans, the country’s gonna be gone. We know who the Democrats are. We know how socialist, how big government they are. But, you know, I really break my neck in grassroots activism trying to beat back these liberal, big-government Republicans that campaign calling themselves conservative — using that adjective: conservative. “Oh, I’m so conservative, elect me,” and, “I’m not the liberal guy. Vote for me, you have nowhere else to go.”
RUSH: Wait a minute. You’re saying that I’m being too soft on liberal Republicans?
CALLER: Oh, my goodness! You know, Karl Rove hasn’t been on your show in a while. But, you know, if it’s not him, Ken Mehlman, who long before Barack Obama ever announced his interest in the presidency, publicly, Ken Mehlman was quoted in a number of articles saying, it’s only inevitable that the health care system in the United States is gonna be taken over by the federal government. With Republicans like this, they’re gonna destroy the country. It’s not gonna be the liberal Democrats. They can’t do it without liberal Republicans. And I want to see you take your hammer to the liberal Republicans as hard as you do to the liberal Democrats, and I don’t think you do that, and it is hugely frustrated.
RUSH: Boy, you picked a strange day to call and lodge this complaint.
CALLER: Well, it’s hard to get through.
RUSH: It makes me wonder if you’re even listening to the program today. The whole first hour today was doing exactly what you say.
CALLER: Name names, Rush. I need names. You’re not naming names.
RUSH: You know who we’re talking about!
CALLER: But you —
RUSH: You know who we’re talking about.
CALLER: A lot of people don’t, though.
RUSH: What is the “conservative intelligentsia” and media? We’ve named the names on this program constantly over and over again. You know who we’re talking about.
CALLER: Krauthammer? Will? Let’s get some guys who seem to be conservative that really aren’t.
RUSH: Well, I don’t know where else you’re gonna go to find this criticism. I spent the first hour of this program pointing out that these people haven’t gotten anything right yet, particularly (I cited as an example), the Arab spring is a great outbreak of democracy. There’s no accountability for these critics, they get to say this stuff, and then it’s forgotten, and when it turns out to be wrong, nobody ever points it out — and they’re the ones telling us Herman Cain and Bachmann are not qualified on foreign policy. I don’t know. Really, John, all you gotta do is listen. Anyway, I appreciate the call. I understand. I appreciate hearing the sentiments of people, and I know why Snerdley put you on the air. I know exactly why Snerdley put you on the air. I just do. I know exactly why you put him on the air, Snerdley. Pure and simple.

RUSH: It was Mark McKinnon that we railed against here on this program. He was running McCain’s campaign, and he had run Bush 43’s — both of his campaigns, ran the media for Bush 43. Highly acclaimed. Mark McKinnon came out and said he’s gonna quit the McCain campaign if they went after Obama, because the candidacy was too historic and he didn’t want to part of that. Now, McKinnon is now part of the No Labels gang, which is basically a bunch of liberals that don’t want to be identified as such. They want to be thought of as the great unwashed, the independents, great moderates.
