RUSH: Boko Haram, not to be confused with Procol Harum, great rock group of the sixties. Boko Haram says now that they have killed another 2,000 to 2,500 people. How’s that hashtag working, #bringbackourgirls? This bunch is just on the march. The horrific aftermath of Boko Haram massacres on Nigerian villages. “Infrared satellite images photos show destruction of densely populated towns. A witness says that terrorists shot and killed –” by the way, these are Islamists. Ahem. Sorry. Terrorists shot and killed a woman who was in labor. Estimated 2,500 people killed, more than 3,700 structures were razed.
Extremist group, Boko Haram, decimated towns of Baga and Doron Baga. One of the towns was nearly wiped off the map, says Amnesty International. Survivors described fleeing over dead bodies of people killed like insects. They have left a trail of murder and mayhem all across Nigeria. In February 2014, they raided a village in the north of the country and murdered dozens. In April 2014, nearly 300 schoolgirls abducted from the town of Chibok, which then Boko Haram burned to the ground.
In August 2014, Boko Haram kidnapped 97 people during raids on villages in the Borno state that killed 28 boys and men. In November 2014, 120 people killed in a bomb attack on a central mosque in Kano, the principal city of northern Nigeria. And on January 4th this year Boko Haram kidnaps 40 boys and young men believed to be 10 to 23 from a village in the Nigerian state of Borno. How’s that hashtag working? Is it insensitive to ask? Yes, it is. You wait. You wait. It’s gonna be insensitive to bring up the hashtag.
We weren’t supposed to let this stuff happen after Rwanda. Clinton is still apologizing for not paying enough attention to the Tutsis and Hutus. But, see, Rwanda was a genocide among warring tribes. This is a particular group about whom we’re not gonna associate their activities with their religion and — (interruption) Well, yeah, it’s genocide. It’s all of that, but — (interruption) Black lives matter, of course black lives matter.
