RUSH: Bethie? Welcome to the program. Where are you in Texas — or Connecticut. I’m sorry. Where are you?

CALLER: Glastonbury.

RUSH: What’s that?

CALLER: I’m in Glastonbury, Connecticut.

RUSH: Glastonbury?

CALLER: Yes. It’s right just outside of Hartford, Connecticut.

RUSH: Okay. Okay, Glastonbury.

CALLER: Anyway, you asked the question earlier: Why are our people Democrats? Well, I was born in 1966. I was told I was a Democrat. I wasn’t even given the option.

RUSH: Right.

CALLER: I was told I was Democrat because I’m Christian, black, poor, low-quality education, parents were on welfare.

RUSH: Right.

CALLER: So I didn’t have a choice to be a Democrat or a Republican. I was told I was one. So the first time I went to the voting poll, I had to vote Democrat because if I didn’t vote Democrat, the Republicans will take away the programs for the poor.

RUSH: Right, right, right. I’ve heard the story. I’ve heard the riff.

CALLER: So I never had a choice. I never even knew what a Democrat was. I literally thought a Democrat was a poor person, they were black, and low educated and were on welfare.

RUSH: Well, they are.

CALLER: I didn’t know the actual meaning.

RUSH: No, they are. The Democrat Party has plenty of those people and they make sure they stay poor and low educated. But the Democrat Party has more rich people in it today running it and leading it than the Republicans could ever hope to have.

CALLER: See, but, Rush: Because I had a low-quality education, I didn’t even think to look up what the definition of a Democrat was.

RUSH: Well, you —

CALLER: I literally thought — coming from a poor, urban community, I literally thought — Democrat means to be black, poor, low-quality education, living in inner cities.

RUSH: It did. It still does. That’s the crying shame.

CALLER: But that’s not the definition. I didn’t learn the definition of being a Democrat ’til I went to college in my thirties. Being a Democrat —

RUSH: Wait, wait, wait. What definition did you learn then?

CALLER: The definition that I learned of a Democrat is that Democrats believe in changing ordinary traditions, whereas Republicans don’t want change.

RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: But see, the Democrat Party is divided, because we were raised as Christians. We were instilled that the gay lifestyle is an abomination to God. So that’s where we’re divided at, because the African-American community believes that.

RUSH: You know, it was just three years ago that Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton both publicly — very publicly — were opposed to gay marriage. Just three years ago. Back in the late eighties and early nineties, both Bill Clinton and Algore were pro-life. But then something changed. When all of these people decide they have national political aspirations, then all that goes out the window. Mrs. Clinton and Obama became pro-gay marriage, and Bill Clinton and Algore became pro-choice.

There’s a funny story in the Stack here. Let me see if I kept this Stack… Oh, the NFL thing. I want to get to that. Yeah, here it is. It’s from The Politico, and I have to tell you, this one made me laugh. “President Barack Obama will meet with moderate Democrats to discuss his economic agenda, a meeting that will likely include discussion of a contentious trade bill Congress is set to consider.”

Four dozen moderate Democrats?

There aren’t any moderate Democrats!

What is a moderate Democrat?

Now, in this story the “moderate Democrats” happen to want free trade. The Democrat Party today doesn’t because they’re slaves to the unions and the coalitions in the party that don’t want any part of free trade. But other than that, moderate Democrats? What the hell? The whole point is — as you just pointed out, Bethie — there isn’t a Democrat Party like the one you grew up in anymore. There is no left wing of the Democrat Party. The left wing of the Democrat Party is the Democrat Party today. It is not the Democrat Party you were instructed to support when you were a child, as you point out in many different ways.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Now, by the way, Bethie from Glastonbury, Connecticut, made a great point in her call. She said the reason that Democrats love class warfare is because they want everybody who isn’t rich to think they have to be a Democrat or they’re betraying their class. That is the kind of thinking that almost destroyed Europe. It’s the kind of thinking the founders of this country hated and rebelled against, and it’s almost like a loyalty commandment.

One of the requirements of the Democrat Party is everybody who isn’t rich has to be a Democrat or they are betraying their “class,” much like every African-American has to be a Democrat or he or she is betraying “the race,” which is why conservative Republican African-Americans are targeted for destruction. I can give you the names. You know ’em as well as I do. Clarence Thomas is at the top of the list.

I just saw the other day that HBO is making a movie about the Clarence Thomas/Anita Hill hearings, and in the movie they’re gonna make Anita Hill a big star. Kerry Washington, who plays Olivia Pope on Scandal, is gonna portray Anita Hill. They never give this stuff up, folks. You know, there’s a new generation that they have to teach the “truth” about Clarence Thomas now ’cause they weren’t alive when he was nominated by George H. W. Bush.

That’s how the left does it.

So if you’re poor, if you’re African-American, you have to be a Democrat. If you’re not, you are betraying your class. You can’t be poor, lower middle class, and be a Republican, or you’re a traitor. And oftentimes, as she pointed out, this kind of thing is forced on you as a young person in a family. You are threatened. If you stray from this cause of the Democrat, then you’re gonna disowned. You’ll be in disfavor. The Founding Fathers of this country despised that.

They hated and rebelled against that kind of thinking.
