Katie Couric (Not a Nice Woman) Doctors Video to Make Gun Owners Look Dumb
May 26, 2016
RUSH: Have you all heard about the latest example of sleazy, lying editing of, in this case videotape, by Katie Couric? Have you heard what Katie Couric did on a documentary on gun ownership? You heard about this? You haven’t heard about this? Well, let me tell you about this before we go to the calls. Grab sound bite 19 and 20. Katie Couric put together a new documentary called Under the Gun. She narrated the thing, she’s one of the producers.
I don’t know if this is part of her deal with Yahoo News or what, but, folks, Katie Couric is not a good person. Katie Couric is not a nice woman. It’s, in fact, the exact opposite. So she’s doing this show with people that are supporters of the Second Amendment, they are gun owners.
The Virginia Citizens Defense League that she tries to portray as one of these wacko militia types. She’s doing a documentary interviewing them and her objective is to portray them as dangerous Looney Tunes, conspiracy theorists who think the government’s out to take over land and kill them and wipe ’em out, poison the fluoride, that kind of thing. That’s what she wants the viewer to conclude.
So in the process of interviewing these people, she asks a question. “Let me ask you another question,” she says. “If there are no background checks for gun purchases, how do you prevent felons or terrorists from buying a gun?” And, if you’re watching this, what you see is nine seconds of her guests having nothing to say. The image conveyed is that she’s asked them a question that they can’t answer, and she got ’em, she nailed ’em. She asked ’em a question and they don’t have the answer, and she’s exposed these people as a bunch of dumb idiots.
Except it didn’t happen.
The nine seconds is B-roll that was edited in, it was video shot before the interview began while everybody was just sitting there waiting for it to begin, and nobody was saying a word. They edited nine seconds of the group sitting there looking around like they were blank, had no answer. When you listen to the audio, the raw audio of the original interview, all of them had answers and they fired back at her immediately. She’s not a good person. It’s more than just that, she’s a biased liberal. She’s not nice. So this first sound bite, number 19, this is her asking the question.
COURIC: Let me ask you another question. If there are no background checks for gun purchasers, how do you prevent felons or terrorists from purchasing a gun?
(silence and then dramatic low music)
RUSH: That’s actual audio from the video as aired. You want to hear what really happened? Here’s the raw audio. This is what they edited out.
COURIC: If there are no background checks, how do you prevent — I know how you all are gonna answer this, but I’m going to ask you anyway — if there are no background checks for gun purchasers, how do you prevent felons or terrorists from walking into, say, a licensed gun dealer and purchasing a gun?
MAN: Well, if you’re not in jail, you should still have your basic rights and you should be able to buy a gun.
COURIC: So if you’re a terrorist or a felon?
MAN: If you’re a felon and you’ve done your time, you should have your rights.
MAN: The fact is, we do have statutes both at the federal and state level that prohibit classes of people from being in possession of firearms.
RUSH: Knowledgeable answers, immediate answers, edited out and replaced with nine seconds of B-roll of her guests sitting there with blank faces because nothing was happening. They’re waiting for the interview to begin. I mean, there can be no accident, no excuse for this. This was purposeful. Katie Couric, NBC, essentially, George Zimmerman, we’ll remind you of that when we get back.
RUSH: Here’s another thing. Katie Couric’s question, “What are you gonna do about these people that are felons?” You know, it’s a bogus question. The premise of the question is not even valid. We’ve already got laws on the books that deal with that. You know, California has strict gun control laws and background check laws. It didn’t stop the San Bernardino Two. San Bernardino Two had a garage full of weapons. They had howitzers, they had grenades out there, they had RPG launchers, who knows what the hell they had. It’s all a crock.
Anyway, great to have you back. El Rushbo here behind the Golden EIB Microphone, broadcast excellence, fastest three hours in media.
Just to refresh your memory. You know, Katie Couric has roots at NBC, even though she’s at Yahoo News, and she’s also been the anchor for the CBS Evening News. But, I mean, once you have experience in the Drive-By Media, you have experience in the Drive-By Media. Remember the George Zimmerman, Trayvon Martin incident. NBC News purposefully doctored the 911 call tape, the George Zimmerman 911 call tape.
I want to remind you of this. This is the NBC Today Show, which is of course where Katie Couric used to work. March 27th, 2012, a little over four years ago, they played a clip of the 911 call George Zimmerman made to the police about Trayvon Martin. Now, this is five seconds. It goes by fast. This is all they played from George Zimmerman’s supposed 911 call to the cops. Ready? Three, two, one.
ZIMMERMAN: This guy looks like he’s up to no good. He looks black.
RUSH: So you are to think, if you’re watching the Today Show, that this guy, Zimmerman, is a kooky neighborhood watch guy, and he sees this black guy in a hoodie walking around the neighborhood, and because he’s a racist thug, he picks up the call, to 911, and tells them that some black guy is up to no good. This is after Trayvon Martin has been shot, of course, and they’re calling George Zimmerman a “white Hispanic,” don’t forget. The New York Times for the first time ever referred to him as a “white Hispanic.”
You want to hear how the call really went? That’s five seconds of it that NBC aired. It was learned that an editor at NBC in Florida purposefully doctored the tape. The guy he said he did it for time constraint reasons, that they didn’t have a whole lot of time, so they had to cut to the essence of the 911 call.
Well, they can’t make that claim on the Katie Couric gun control show. They added nine seconds of nothing, so they can’t claim they did it for time constraints. They did it out of pure political bias and a desire for a certain outcome to be perceived by their audience.
At NBC they did the same thing. They wanted everybody to think that the Zimmerman guy is a loony tune neighbor watch guy running around his neighborhood looking for black people to drop the dime on because he’s a racist pig. But here is the actual 911 call where you will hear Zimmerman offered nothing. He was answering questions from the 911 operator.
ZIMMERMAN: This guy looks like he’s up to no good or he’s on drugs or something. It’s raining, and he’s just walking around looking about.
911 OPERATOR: Okay, this guy, is he white, black, or Hispanic?
ZIMMERMAN: He looks black.
RUSH: Now, in the tape they aired, they have Zimmerman saying, “This guy looks like he’s up to no good. He looks black.” That required editing. It required somebody at NBC to, as they say in the old days, splice these two bits of audio together. But George Zimmerman did not offer that Trayvon Martin looked black. He was asked for his interpretation by the 911 operator.
So the same premise, doctoring of the tape. Now, let’s give this NBC guy the benefit of the doubt, because we can still make the case. Okay, let’s say that there were time constraints. Okay, but the guy has built in bias, he obviously thought whoever did this at NBC, and probably all of them, without knowing anything, ah, see a guy in a hoodie, black, who shot and a “white Hispanic” neighborhood watch, got a neighborhood watch guy is automatically a kook, right.
The neighborhood watch guy is a pretend cop. The neighborhood watch guy is one of these guys that couldn’t pass the cop exam but wants to be a cop so he arms up, gets an official looking uniform, has a cheap little crackerjack badge and runs around the neighborhood. That’s what they think of neighborhood watch people. Then you add the black guy in the hoodie, and without knowing anything, a-ha, NBC concludes that this Looney Tune neighborhood watch guy shot the guy in the hoodie because he’s black, because it’s racism.
Just like the Duke lacrosse case. Well, you had these white lacrosse players. “Who plays lacrosse? Come on, that’s the oddest sport, gotta be rich white guys playing.” And who was injured? Why, a harmless African-American single mother trying to make it in a tough world, having to dance at their fraternity party. So of course when she says they raped her, of course it happened because that’s what white lacrosse players do, and the faculty just signed a letter. Talk about bias, it’s worse than bias. Prejudice. And it was existent here.
Katie Couric, same thing. The prejudice is, gun owners, dangerous, anti-government conspiracy fearing tinhorn hat wearing kooks. We’re gonna put a show on for gun control here to illustrate for everybody just what kind of dangerous wackos these guys are. Same premise. And that’s how it works.
