RUSH: Did you see this, The Daily Caller? “London’s Muslim Mayor Bans Sexy Women In Advertisements.” Let me tell you something, the NAGs are gonna love this. This is exactly what they’ve been aiming for since the late sixties. “Sadiq Khan, London’s first Muslim mayor, announced Monday that ‘body shaming’ advertisements will no longer be allowed in London’s public transport.”
Remember, now, this is just the beginning. These people never solve problems with this stuff. They just create new ways to deny liberty and freedom. He said, “As the father of two teenage girls, I am extremely concerned about this kind of advertising which can demean people, particularly women, and make them ashamed of their bodies. It is high time it came to an end.”
“The mayor added, ‘Nobody should feel pressurized, while they travel on the Tube or bus, into unrealistic expectations surrounding their bodies and I want to send a clear message to the advertising industry about this.’ … Recently, advertisements featuring bikini-clad models in the British city of Birmingham were spray painted over. Birmingham has a high Muslim population.”
Now, can you imagine this happening in New York City? No, no. I want you to imagine that the new mayor of New York, whenever, is a Muslim and he has decided that, not only are all the billboards and all the bus cards and all the taxi cabs and all the stuff on the subways too provocative because of the way women are portrayed, he’s gonna ban it.
No more beautiful women. No more scantily clad. You gotta be average, frumpy or whatever or you don’t get to appear. And then says, “You know what? We’re gonna move on to the magazines. I mean, if it’s body shaming, we gotta protect people from feeling embarrassed about themselves. And then no movie filmed in New York will be permitted.” It’s going to happen at some point if it’s happening in London. Mayoral decree.
RUSH: This story out of London where the new Muslim mayor has just decreed that no more pictures of attractive women will be allowed on advertisements in the subway — the tubes — taxicabs, buses and so forth in London? That is a much bigger story than anybody is paying attention to right now, because nobody’s getting shot in the process. This Orlando thing is covering everything up.
But I’m telling you, that is huge, in terms of what it portends and what it shows and what there is to learn from it. And the people that ought to be worried about that are some of the most radical partiers and leftists that publish magazines and entertainment websites and TV networks, people that make their livings off of stigmatizing and exhibiting beautiful women had better be taking notice. They are targets — and it’s not Christians doing it, and it’s not conservatives doing it.
It’s one of these things, it’s gonna sneak up on ’em. They’re not even paying attention. They may even be laughing. “Did you see that stupid mayor in London?” Well, you just remember, that is a much bigger story.
