RUSH: So the media started having heart palpitations late yesterday afternoon. The president apologized. Finally, the president apologized. He had an interview with F. Chuck Todd on NBC, and the president apologized for lying to you. That’s what they said. But he didn’t really do that, folks. He didn’t take any responsibility for his actions. All he said was that he’s sorry you misunderstood him. He’s sorry that your misunderstanding has made you unhappy. He did not apologize, nor is he sorry for lying to you when he said you could keep your policy and your doctor and your premiums would come down an average of $2,500.

Now, he wants people to think that’s what he did. And the media is dutifully reporting that Obama apologized for this. But we parse the words of politicians here. ‘Cause we think it’s important. Others accuse us of nitpicking. This isn’t nitpicking. It’s simply getting it right. It’s just simple truth seeking, truth telling, and accuracy. We got the sound bites. You can hear, judge for yourself. He doesn’t take any responsibility. In fact, I think the real killer comment — we got this coming up — I don’t know if anybody else has pointed this out to you. They might have.

But the real telling comment here, I mean this is Limbaugh Theorem stuff. Obama, in one of these sound bites in his apology, “Yeah, I got burned by a website.” As though here I am, I’m the president and I farmed this Obamacare website out, and I got burned by all these incompetent boobs that don’t know what they’re doing. I got burned. You didn’t, I’m the one that got burned. I’m the guy that looks bad. I’m the guy that’s really harmed here. That’s what he said. That’s basically the summation of this. He’s ticked off he got burned, because you do not embarrass the Dear Leader like this. You end up in a jail or dungeon if it’s possible. You just don’t do this.

RUSH: NBC News, F. Chuck Todd, their big scoop: Obama apologized for lying to the American people when he told ’em they could keep their health insurance if they liked it, and keep their doctor if they liked him, and that their premiums would go down $2500.

But he didn’t apologize for that.

Essentially what he says here is that he is sorry you believed him.

That’s really what it comes down to. He’s sorry you believed him. Here we go with the first bite. F. Chuck Todd. “Let me start with health care, Mr. President. Probably the most quoted thing you’ve said in your presidency: ‘If you like your health plan, you can keep it.’ You said it a lot during the run-up. At this point, though, it’s obviously a promise that has not been able to be kept. Just today the Denver Post reported 250,000 people in Colorado are seeing health insurance policies canceled. Some of those people like those policies and they can’t keep them. What happened?”

OBAMA: I meant what I said, and we worked hard to try to make sure that we implemented it properly. But obviously we didn’t do enough — uh, a good enough job, and I regret that. Uh, we’re talking about 5% of the population, uh, who are in what’s called the individual market. They’re out there buyin’ health insurance on their own. I am deeply concerned about it and I’ve assigned my team to see what we can do to close some of the holes and gaps in the law because, you know, my intention is to lift up and make sure the insurance that people buy is effective. And so we’re gonna have to work hard to make sure that those folks, uh, are, you know, taken care of.

RUSH: Wow. This is really cool.

So F. Chuck says, ‘Okay, people losing their policies when you said they could keep them. What happened?” Obama said, “I meant what I said.” When? What are you talking about, Mr. President? You meant when you said what? And he said, “Well, we worked hard to try to make sure that we implemented it proper, but we didn’t do enough — a good enough job. I regret that. We’re talking about 5% of the population.” No, you’re not, you’re talking about almost all the population. Before it’s all said and done.

Ah, look, I gotta take a break. Aw, darn it, ’cause the real big bite was coming next. Aw, jeez.

RUSH: Here’s the next sound bite with F. Chuck Todd asking Obama (summarized), “Okay, so you tell people that they keep their plan, doctor, all that, if they liked them and they can’t. Just today, Colorado, 250,000 people. What happened? What went wrong?”

OBAMA: I regret very much that what we intended to do, which is to make sure that everybody is moving into better plans because they want ’em as opposed to because they’re forced into it, that, you know, uh, we weren’t as clear as we needed to be in terms of the changes that were taking place. Even though it’s a small percentage of folks who may be disadvantaged, you know, it means a lot to them and it’s scary to them. Uh, and I am sorry that they, uhh, you know, are finding themselves in this situation based on assurances they got from me.

RUSH: Now, that’s it.

He did not apologize for lying.

He didn’t even get close to apologizing for lying!

I know some of you say, “So, Rush, big deal. So what?”

I know. We did all this with Clintons what he was lying and nobody cared. I know. But it’s still the historical record. What Obama is saying here is, “Sorry you believed me.” See, I think this is a different kind of lie than what Clinton told. We went through this earlier this week. This is a deeply personal lie. This is a purposeful lie. You know, this needs to be hammered, and now he’s apologizing based on, “I’m sorry you believed me. I’m sorry that you listened to me that closely. You weren’t supposed to hear it that way.”

That’s what he’s saying.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Some people might say, “Come on, Rush,” about Obama’s apology. “I think it is important to get the truth in this. He’s not apologizing for what he said, folks. He’s not apologizing for anything that’s happened. He’s not apologizing for what he did. He’s not apologizing for Obamacare at all. He’s apologizing for how you misunderstood him. He’s sorry that you believed him. He employed the Limbaugh Theorem and claimed he’s a victim too.

It was predictable even before he said it. You know, when I heard that he was gonna go on NBC and apologize, I knew what he was gonna do. He was gonna set himself up as a victim. He is victim number one, by the way, in this country. He sets himself up as an outsider. He’s not really governing and all these other people are gonna have screwed something up. Damn it. He’s as excited as anybody is to get it fixed. He’s as mad as anybody is that it went wrong.

He’s as mad as anybody is that what he said isn’t true, and somebody’s gonna pay the price. He’s gonna get somebody’s gonna pay for this, and that’s just the way he does it. He claimed he’s a victim. He even said, “Look, I was burned by a website. I was burned by a website.” The president of the United States is saying, “I was burned by a website,” meaning, “Everything in this plan’s cool! It’s the greatest thing under the sun. It’s just the stupid website doesn’t work.

“I got burned by a website. I’m only here having to apologize because of that stupid website.” But most of all, he acts like he didn’t have anything to do with the situation that people are, quote, “finding themselves in.” Yes, he didn’t have anything to do with it. It’s your problem. He’s really sorry that you believed him. It’s like all these athletes that get caught. They say, “That’s not me. You know, the person that stole that car and ran it into the bridge abutment with an alcohol level of 5.7, that’s not who I am.”

“Well, it’s not who I am,” and if I’ve offended anybody, I am really sorry.” So you don’t apologize for what you do. You apologize for however incorrectly people interpreted what you did. If he were really sorry about these cancellations, he’d do something about it. He could remove these provisions. He could do any number of things if he wanted to. If he were really sorry about what’s happening to people, he could change it. We know this. He’s changing anything he wants any time.

But he’s not changing anything — and, by the way, numbers are tough on the radio, but he keeps throwing this number out, “5% of the population,” as though it’s no big deal. “We’re only talking about 5% of the population. It isn’t any big deal. It’s a minor percentage.” Well, you know one way of putting that number in perspective? Best guesstimates, gays are 1.7% of the population. That’s according to UCLA, not me.

According to UCLA, gay population of America, 1.4%. But we’re concerned about gays, aren’t he we? I mean, in dealing with gay rights or gay this or gay that, you never hear Obama say, “Well, we’re just talking about 1.4%.” No. It’s made to sound like they’re half the population. But in this case, “Well, it’s just 5% of the population. It’s only 15 million people! Come on.” That’s 15 million people!

They’re real living, breathing human beings whose lives are being torn upside down because of all of this. Let’s keep something else in mind. Supposedly the best guess number that’s been, I guess, the most consistent number thrown out of the uninsured is around 30 or 45 million. Of that number, only about 18 million could afford insurance and decided not to get it. The point is that less than 5% of the population was enough to Obama completely destroying or health care system.

In other words, whatever the number uninsured — 30 or 43 million — the vast majority of ’em uninsured on purpose. They were young people; they didn’t want to spend the money on it. They weren’t running around thinking they were gonna die the next day. They weren’t running around thinking gonna get in a car crash that would send ’em into bankruptcy. They weren’t thinking they were gonna get a terminal disease the next day.

They were eating trans fats.

They were drinking beer, 32-ounce soft drinks, and enjoying life.

They did not want to buy health insurance!

In fact, the vast majority of the uninsured didn’t buy it on purpose. The Democrats are running around wailing, “Oh, woe is us! Oh, these poor people! Everybody’s desperate to have health insurance, and they can’t afford it.” So for essentially 5% of the population, we had to totally upend the American health care system, and it’s now a disaster. I don’t care how you slice it, the president of the United States repeatedly for three years looked the American people in the eye and knowingly lied.

Don’t forget what we know. It’s New York Times Federal Register, the Bible, the diary of the federal government. Administration officials, in discussions with each other at various levels, departments, all agreed that when Obamacare was implemented, 93 million Americans would lose their current plan. They knew this. They planned on that. Again, if everybody liked their plan, why “reform” anything? If everybody liked what they had, leave it alone!

I mean, Obama’s running around saying, “If you like your plan, you can keep it.” Why did he say that? Why did he lie? Well, one of the reasons was to get support for the reform that was coming. Another reason for the lie was to create this image that not much was really gonna change, that all we’re gonna do here is insure the uninsured. “You like your plan, you get to keep it. If you like your doctor, you get to keep it.

“Because of my brilliance, your premium is gonna go down $2,500!” Well, who wouldn’t support that? “I get to keep my plan, the uninsured get insured, and it’s gonna cost me $2500 less a year.” Who wouldn’t sign up for that? So it was a purposeful, multipronged lie. But the proof in the pudding is if 90% of the American people like their plans, why reform anything?

Why blow up the health care system and then try to put it back together under government control, if everybody was already happy — and they must have been, otherwise Obama wouldn’t have lied about that. I’m sure they had all kinds reasons. I’m sure they do now. I think the reason for this faux apology yesterday was focus group polling. I’m sure they’re being beat up left and right in the focus.

I’m sure they looked at the election results in Virginia and they’re scared to death. They know what an albatross around Democrats’ necks this Obamacare is. So now he goes out and compounds the original lie with a fake apology. But I want to focus here on the original lie and ask you to think about that for a second. Throughout this whole debate, one of the things that Democrats and the president said was that the health care system’s broken and nobody’s happy with it.

I don’t think there’s any question about this: The primary sales technique, the number one selling point used by the president was, “If you like what you have now, you can keep it.” That was what he used to sell everybody on accepting it. Why tell them that if you know you’re gonna blow it up and if you know nobody’s gonna be able to keep their plan? Why tell them that? Because there really was no justification for doing what he’s doing in real life, because most people liked what they had.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have made his number one selling point, “You get to keep yours if you like it.” If he hadn’t lied about that, and instead told people that because of what we need to accomplish you’re not gonna be able to keep your current plan, he might not have been elected. If he woulda gone anywhere near truthfulness on this, he might not have been reelected. So the whole thing here is a giant scam predicated on a false premise.

The false premises. There are two of them: All these uninsured, and everybody that had insurance was miserable and angry and hated it. And that equaled the need for massive reform. But then, “Oh, by the way, if you like your plan, you can keep it. If you like your doctor, you can keep him.” Well, why even say that to people if they’re mad at what they’ve got and don’t like their plans and they’re fed up? The number one selling point was, “You don’t have to change anything,” so why did we do this in the first place, then?

Well, look, the reason we’re doing this is because Barack Obama is a leftist activist, a socialist, a communist, a collectivist, I don’t care what you want to call him, but he’s not just a liberal Democrat. He is far more radical than that. And the purpose of taking over the health care system is the control of as much of everyone’s life as possible. And running the health care system from Washington gives you that control, because everything you do in your life is at some point gonna have a cost component to your health care. We’re all gonna die and we’re all gonna get sick and all gonna need treatment, and with those people in charge of who gets treated and who doesn’t, based on how much it’s gonna cost, they get to control how you live.

So they then now go get to ban trans fats. Yeah, we’re gonna ban trans fats because it leads to more heart attacks and it puts a cost on the health care system, and they make it look like they’re doing it all for your benefit because they really care about you. But government doesn’t care. Obama doesn’t care. Obama coerces. I’m still fixated on the very beginning, “If you like your plan, you get to keep it.” The number one selling point, which, to me, argues no need for any change. He lied through his teeth because he knew people weren’t gonna be able to keep their plans.

If he had gone on television and said for two years, “Sorry, you can’t keep your plan. For my Obamacare to work, you’re going to have to give up your plan and join a different pool, and some of you are gonna find your costs doubled and tripled,” he wouldn’t have been reelected. He had to lie to people, but he lied about something deeply personal. And now he goes out with F. Chuck Todd at NBC and wants you to think that he’s sorry he lied to you. But he’s not sorry he lied to you. He’s happy he got away with it. He’s happy that he can now go apologize that you misunderstood. He’s sorry if you’re offended. He’s sorry if you bothered to believe him. And now he’s using the Limbaugh Theorem, “Gee, you know, we all kind of got screwed here, but I’m gonna get to the bottom of this. I’m gonna find out who did this.”

In this interview with F. Chuck Todd, Obama never once mentioned those lousy old plans that he was constantly trashing just the day before. That must not be testing well with the focus groups. Those lousy old plans, remember that, because that lousy old plan turns out was the one you liked and wanted to keep. That lousy old plan, we’re gonna get rid of it, and you’re gonna get an upgrade. It may cost you a little bit more. He didn’t tell you that, though. The big take-away, Obama doesn’t care, folks. That’s what’s really clear. He lied for power. He lied for gain, personal gain, political gain, political power. He lied to fundamentally transform this country to something that was never intended to be. And he is happy as a clam that he has gotten away with it.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Just a couple of more Obama sound bites ’cause you gotta hear the Limbaugh Theorem aspect of this where Obama makes himself out to be a victim of all this. So F. Chuck Todd says, “Do you understand if people are gonna be skeptical of the next promise you make, or are you concerned that people are gonna be wondering, ‘Jeez, what’s the fine print that he’s not telling me?’ Do you get that people might be a little more skeptical of you? Forget the partisans. Just average Americans, Mr. President.”

OBAMA: People know that I speak my mind and I tell folks what I think, and I’ve been very clear about what I’m trying to do. And I think most people know that, even if they disagree with me on certain issues, that I’m every day working hard to try to make life a little bit better for middle-class families who are —

RUSH: That’s just —

OBAMA: — and folks who are trying to get in the middle class, who are doing the right thing and being responsible.

RUSH: — crock.

OBAMA: I mean, we’re talking about —

RUSH: Excrement.

OBAMA: — 5% of the population.
RUSH: Yeah, gays are 1% of the population, 1.7. But here again, it’s not just 5% of the population. So to hell with them. It’s only 5%. Screw them. (imitation) “I’m working hard for you. Everybody knows I’m working hard. It’s only 5%, who cares. It’s probably Republicans anyway. So what? It’s just 5%.” And here’s the “I’ve been burned by a website.”

OBAMA: I am deeply frustrated about how this website has not worked over the first couple of weeks, and, you know, I take responsibility of that. I’m confident that it will be even better by November 30th and that the majority of people are gonna be able to get on there. Having said that, given that I’ve been burned already with a website — well, more importantly, the American have been burned by a website that has been dysfunctional, what we’ve also been doing is creating a whole other set of tracks, making sure that people can apply by phone effectively, making sure that people can apply in person effectively.

RUSH: Okay. So he catches himself. I mean, that’s really stepping in it, you know, “I’ve been burned by a website.” “Given that I’ve been burned already — well, more importantly, the American people,” blah, blah, blah, blah. “And we’ve been setting up a whole other set of tracks.” Ladies and gentlemen, I don’t know how to explain, you and I all know, this man hasn’t the slightest clue what he’s doing, not operational, he doesn’t know how to set up a website. But he doesn’t care, really.

In one sense, he is really way far ahead of everybody else ’cause he doesn’t care how much pain and suffering this causes. He doesn’t care if people are losing their policies. That’s not what this is about. What he cares about is changing this country. He doesn’t like the way this country’s been operating. He doesn’t like the way it’s founded, and he’s getting away with changing it big. He doesn’t care about all this. The fact he has to go on this stupid interview and fake being sorry bothers him more than anything. But it’s something his handlers told him he had to do. This is all just rampant incompetence in the real world.
