RUSH: A random act of journalism on CNN last night. I was getting e-mails all night long, “Rush, you gotta see this! Rush, you gotta talk about this! Rush you gotta tell people! Debbie ‘Blabbermouth’ Schultz was taken to the woodshed by Anderson Cooper.” Now, folks, can I say something about this? We’ve got a lot of sound bites on this, and there’s no question: Debbie “Blabbermouth” Schultz went on CNN and tried to lie about a story in the LA Times and Mitt Romney.

Anderson Cooper would not let her get away with it.

Anderson Cooper just jumped down her throat, and made her look like the blabbermouth fool that she is. Now, stop and think about this. I’m getting e-mails all night. The conservative media press came to a stop. “Stop the presses! Look what’s happening!” And it struck me how rare real journalism is, how rare it is that a mainstream media outlet actually questions the honesty and veracity of a Democrat. How rare that is that, when it happened last night on CNN, everybody stopped what they were doing and told everybody they knew about it?

To me, that alone is an illustration of just how out of whack the media is.

We all know it is, but it’s great to find unique, different illustrations of it. I think this is a good one. This ought to be happening every day. I mean, the media loves to say that what they do is “speak truth to power” or whatever that convoluted phrase is. The media loves to tell us that they’re the ones who are gonna make sure the powerful are kept in check. “We are gonna make sure that the powerful are held accountable for what they do! When we find cronyism…”

Of course, they don’t anymore.

They align themselves with the power when the power is with Democrats. There is no interest in holding the powerful accountable. The only thing the media cares about is the same thing the Democrats care about, and that is defeating (however necessary) conservatives. Tarring, feathering, discrediting — impugning the character, honesty, and veracity of — conservatives whatever it takes. The media has joined that. And here we have a random act of journalism.

Here we have the media actually doing something that ought to be happening every day for everybody in power. They ought to be doing this to Republicans, conservatives, liberals, Democrats, whoever. But they never do it with Democrats. And when they do, it shocks and stuns everybody, and they say, “Looky, looky!” That’s how rare it is. So we gotta take a brief, obscene profit time-out. When we come back, I’ll let you hear this random act of journalism that took place with Anderson Cooper on CNN last night.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Here we go. Last night, CNN Anderson Cooper 119. He was talking to Debbie “Blabbermouth” Schultz, the Democrat National Committee chairwoman. Anderson Cooper said, “Factually speaking…” You know what’s interesting? See, the media normally… The reason this stands out is that most people in the media are not journalists; they’re collaborators. So when one of them acts like a journalist it’s, “Stop the presses!” It’s jarring; it’s unbelievable. Because they are. They’re collaborators.

The media collaborates with the Democrats, pure and simple. With the regime. I don’t know what it is, but they’ve been going after Debbie “Blabbermouth” Schultz lately. When was the last time? Who was the last sound bite we had? Somebody went after Debbie “Blabbermouth” Schultz. It might have been somebody on Fox. So, anyway, Cooper says to Debbie “Blabbermouth” Schultz, “Factually speaking, Mitt Romney didn’t design or direct the writing of the Republican Party platform. In particular, the language on abortion is the same as it’s been for years. You can fault Romney and Ryan, as you did, for not pushing their position, but you can’t say that they designed the abortion section.”

SCHULTZ: Anderson, we definitely can say it because even in the previous platform… Mitt Romney has embraced previous Republican Party platforms and embraced that language and said he’d be delighted to support a constitutional amendment banning all abortion.

COOPER: You have to acknowledge he has, for years, publicly said that he supports abortion in the case of rape, incest, and where the life of the mother is at stake.

SCHULTZ: I can certainly acknowledge that he says that out loud. And I think it’s very clear that Mitt Romney talks the talk; certainly doesn’t walk the walk.

RUSH: Anderson Cooper is not accepting that…

COOPER: Do you at least acknowledge that —

SCHULTZ: And people should know that.

COOPER: — the quote you gave from the LA Times is completely incorrect?

SCHULTZ: No, I don’t acknowledge that. I know that’s what you’re what saying, but (stammering) what I acknowledge —

COOPER: Well, I can read it to you right now ’cause —

SCHULTZ: — is that —

COOPER: — what you said is, “Guess what…?”

SCHULTZ: Anderson, what I’m saying is: It doesn’t matter.

COOPER: I think what you say does matter. You’re quoting the LA Times. And, again, you’ve misquoted them to back up a position.

SCHULTZ: Anderson? Anderson? The point of the e-mail — and there’s no getting around that, and I would think you would agree — that there’s no way that a presidential candidate, a party’s nominee, can separate themself (sic) from that party’s platform.

COOPER: He has.

SCHULTZ: There is no exception —

COOPER: I mean, he has.

SCHULTZ: — for rape or incest —

COOPER: He has.

SCHULTZ: — in the Human Life Amendment.

RUSH: So she’s out there lying, and she doesn’t care what he said. The thing that Anderson doesn’t get through all of this is that she doesn’t care. Anderson, Debbie “Blabbermouth” doesn’t care whether what she’s saying is true or not. That’s what Anderson doesn’t understand. The truth is never gonna get in the way. He’s trying to tell her, “Look, you’re lying; Romney is for a rape exception.” And she’s trying to tell Cooper, “No, he’s not. He may say so, but he doesn’t believe it.” She’s just blatantly lying about it, and she’s using the CNN forum to do it.

Anderson Cooper keeps challenging her, and it’s becoming a daily occurrence now.

Her lies are so blatant that even these hosts, after a while, can’t help but accidentally call her out.

Here’s the next bite…

COOPER: I do think accuracy is important, and my job is to point out things that are not factually correct. What you said —

SCHULTZ: Accuracy is important.

COOPER: You said, “Guess what? The Los Angeles Times reported yesterday that the platform was, and I quote, ‘written at the direction of Romney’s campaign.'” That sounds very direct. But that’s not actually what the LA Times —

SCHULTZ: Anderson?

COOPER: — was saying.

SCHULTZ: The bottom-line message of our e-mail is that, A: Women need to know the difference between the two parties and the two presidential candidates on a woman’s right to make her own reproductive choices. And that Mitt Romney can say that he’s for an exception for rape or incest; his party platform doesn’t reflect that.

RUSH: By the way, the party platform doesn’t talk about it nor does the Democrat Party platform. The Democrat Party platform doesn’t talk about a rape exception. Anyway, the great thing here? (There’s still one more sound bite.) The great thing here is that the Democrats really are in the midst of utter economic decay. In the midst of their own policies wreaking havoc on the middle class, they are excited to make this about abortion. Let them, folks. Let them. They are just jazzed! Their whole convention is gonna be about abortion. It’s like a knee-jerk reaction. Somebody’s tripped ’em up here.

The next bite is Anderson. He’s so frustrated. He’s really only trying to help her. He says, “Debbie, lying doesn’t look good. You have to understand that.”

COOPER: It’s my job, on both sides of the aisle, to point out things that are inaccurate.

SCHULTZ: Right.

COOPER: In a fundraising e-mail, to misquote something to serve your argument, just doesn’t seem — in the long term — to serve your argument very well. But —

SCHULTZ: I understand your point, but I think we… I — I — I — I mean, the balance of the e-mail makes the case very clearly. And the main thrust of the information we’re trying to convey is that Mitt Romney is disingenuous when it comes to his position on a woman’s right to make her own reproductive choices. And he’s extreme! And has embraced an extreme position! And we want women to know that.

RUSH: But he hasn’t.

He’s said he’s for the rape exception.

And she’s out there on CNN saying (summarized exchange), “No, he’s just lying about it.” And Anderson Cooper says, “But — but — but it’s not true what you’re saying.” “Anderson, it doesn’t matter. Don’t you get it, pal? I’m here to advance the agenda.” And his answer is, “Well, but look: My job is to hold both sides accountable. My job is to point out things that are inaccurate.” “Come on, Anderson! Wake up! What do you think I came here for? A lesson on the truth? I’m here to smear Romney, and I’m gonna smear Romney no matter what you do! There’s nothing you can do, Anderson, to make me stop smearing Romney.”

Now, when I got these e-mails last night from people saying, “You gotta watch this,” I’ll be honest with you. People told me that Anderson Cooper just creamed Debbie “Blabbermouth.” That she was just embarrassed here to all hell. I don’t hear that. I hear him very sheepishly saying (impression), “You know, Debbie, really, y-y-you know, what you’re saying isn’t true. Don’t you think it would be better to tell the truth?” “Anderson, look, you don’t understand. Our fundraising e-mail is designed to lie. Romney is saying one thing, and that doesn’t help us what he’s saying.

“So we gotta tell people that he’s lying! He doesn’t really mean what he’s saying. He’s an extremist. Every Republican is ‘an extremist.’ Every Republican wants babies to live! Oh, gee. We can’t have that, ’cause we’re the ones killing babies.” But I don’t think he “profoundly embarrassed” her. I don’t think she can be embarrassed. I don’t think Biden can be embarrassed. Oh, speaking of that, Charlie Rangel said (impression), “You’re damn right Biden was talking about slavery and he’s damn right about it!”

Yeah, Rangel’s out saying, “Damn right he was talking about slavery.” Another circling of the wagons around Plugs. Anyway, maybe I’m hearing this differently than you guys, and I didn’t see it. Maybe Debbie “Blabbermouth” Schultz looked guilty, but… (interruption) Okay, HR says he saw it and she looked guilty. Fine. When you just hear it, she got her message out: Romney’s lying and hates women and is extreme!

Now, it’s absurd — and, again, it’s illustrative of their pursuing the Moron Vote.

No question about it.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

Here’s Roy in Chester, South Carolina. Great to have you on the program, sir. Hello.

CALLER: Yes hello, Rush, how are you?

RUSH: Good.

CALLER: It’s nice to talk to you with you, sir, thank you for all you do.

RUSH: You bet. I appreciate that, sir, very much.

CALLER: And I want to tell you, you are not the Paul Revere, you are the George Washington of the movement.

RUSH: Well, thanks much.

CALLER: And I just wanted to bring up a point that you mention a lot — actually, lately on your show, and that is the random acts of journalism.

RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: — being committed, and that sentence is funny in itself. And you know something, I agree a hundred percent with you, but I wonder, do you think that it’s possible there’s more to this than meets the eye? And the reason why I say that is —

RUSH: Wait, wait. More to what?

CALLER: The random acts of journalism. Do you think that there’s more to it? Do you think it’s just Anderson Cooper gets up in the morning and decides, “I’m gonna be honest today on my show”?

RUSH: No. No. I don’t think that happens ’cause I don’t think the feeling would last that long. No. But, now, you’re raising an interesting question. Why are the random acts random?

CALLER: Exactly.

RUSH: That’s what you’re essentially asking me.

CALLER: Exactly. I mean, I don’t want to go as far out there as to say that — is the news media starting to turn on Obama —

RUSH: Oh, no, no, no, no. Don’t tease yourself that way.

CALLER: Okay. Okay.

RUSH: That is not happening. That is the last possible explanation, to answer your question. It’s a good question: Why are the random acts random. You know, I’ll tell you, in both recent random acts of journalism on CNN, the target has been Debbie “Blabbermouth” Schultz. The last time it happened it was Wolf Blitzer going after Debbie “Blabbermouth” Schultz. For the same reason Anderson did. She wasn’t telling the truth. Wolf was saying — I forget what Wolf was talking to her about but it was cut-and-dried, crystal clear — he kept saying, Debbie, look, they didn’t say that, that’s not what they believe, and she kept saying, you’re wrong, Wolf, here’s what they think, and everybody knows it. And with Anderson, it was the same thing. So both random acts of journalism have involved Wolf Blitzer and Anderson Cooper attempting to protect themselves. I’ll tell you what I think it is. Now that you ask and I articulate this answer, I think what it is is strictly their own reaction to Debbie “Blabbermouth” Schultz. I think it is so obvious that she’s a partisan hack, it is so blatantly obvious that she is nothing but a robotic partisan hack, that they cannot afford to let the woman go by unchallenged.

CALLER: I agree.

RUSH: But they’re not really challenging her. If you’ll note particularly Anderson — and I’ve gotta say this. I have to say this, folks. I alluded to it earlier. Last night, I’m sitting in a minding my own business, bothering nobody, and all of a sudden I’m deluged with e-mail about how Debbie “Blabbermouth” Schultz has just been humiliated by Anderson Cooper. He cleaned her clock. He mopped the floor with her. You’ve gotta see it. Well, I don’t watch video on computers much ’cause of the hearing aspect of it. So I waited. I knew that Cookie would have the sound bite. So I didn’t hear any of this ’til I played them for you today. And as I played them I didn’t hear her clock getting cleaned. I didn’t hear the floor being mopped with her, and I didn’t even hear her being humiliate.

What I heard was Anderson Cooper trying to help her and protect her: “Look, look, we’re trying to be honest, Debbie. We’re trying to get the facts out. We don’t want to be wrong.”
If she had been a Republican trying to do what she was doing, he’d-a been in there with both fists and pounding away. But it was kid gloves. She got her message out, for whatever length of time went by, two minutes she was able to perpetrate the lie that her point was that Romney’s lying when he says that he’s for rape exception in abortion.

She’s saying, “Bo, he doesn’t. He doesn’t really believe that. He’s just saying it.”

And Anderson Cooper, “Well, no, he’s never said it, Debbie. He doesn’t write the platform.”

“Doesn’t matter, Anderson, Romney’s an evil, mean guy, he’s a felon, puts the dog on the roof of the car, wants everybody in chains, and he wants women not to be able to have abortions.” And she got the message out. And Anderson — I think it’s all about these guys trying to distance themselves from her a little bit. I think it’s specific to her, ’cause she’s not that likable, because she’s so over the top and if you’re a collaborator with the regime, you have to have credibility. And if you are seen as nothing but a fellow hack, then it’s going be tougher to maintain the illusion. So I would not for a moment, Roy, think that what it means is the media’s finally seen the light about Obama. That’s not it at all.
