RUSH: Charles in Atlanta. Charles, I’m glad you waited. Next up you are here on the EIB Network. Hi.

CALLER: (garbled cell connection) How you doing?

RUSH: Pretty well, sir.

CALLER: Yeah. I was just commenting what Rush was talking about the Clintons and the homes they own and all that stuff, you know? I’m from Atlanta, Georgia, I’m a retired soldier and all this stuff. You know, it shouldn’t matter about people’s net worth, how much money they make and all that other stuff. If you’re out there to support the people, trying to make the country a better place, money has no issue. Because, you know, money, everybody gets out there to make money to sustain their family. Rush B. Limbaugh (sic) is worth $350 million. He’s the most controversial reporter out here. Nobody plays it and people still listen to him. But the bottom line is —

RUSH: Wait, wait, wait just a second.

CALLER: Let me finish. Let me finish, now. Let me say this!

RUSH: No, no, no.

CALLER: Donald Trump’s worth four million, four billion dollars. It doesn’t matter.

RUSH: Hold on, Charles!

CALLER: That doesn’t matter.

RUSH: Charles, hold it a minute. Hang on a minute. I’m honestly having trouble understanding you because of the phone line quality. Are you saying that you don’t think it matters, you don’t care who has what and how much money anybody has?

CALLER: No! It’s all about who’s trying to take care of people. You can be the richest man in the world or the poorest man. If you’re trying to do the right thing for the people that you’re serving, it doesn’t matter. Because look at you. You’re doing the right thing for your family. No matter what you say, how controversial it is, you will say it to support your family. Am I right or wrong?

RUSH: Well, in the first place I need to ask you something.

CALLER: Am I right or wrong?

RUSH: Where did you —

CALLER: No, no! I asked question.

RUSH: Charles?

CALLER: (garbled)

RUSH: Charles? Charles?

CALLER: I listen to you.

RUSH: Charles?

CALLER: I listen to you (unintelligible).

RUSH: Charles? Charles, I’m gonna answer your question, but I need to ask you one first.

CALLER: Well —

RUSH: Where did you see that I…?

CALLER: All right.

RUSH: Where did you say that I’m worth $350 million? Where did you see that?

CALLER: Well, that’s irrelevant. The question I asked —

RUSH: No, no, it’s not irrelevant. There’s no wrong answer. I’m just — and I’m gonna answer. I’m just curious: Where did you see that?

CALLER: You know what? Answer the question I asked first. That’s what the politicians out there do. You ask another question.

RUSH: All right, what’s the question? What’s the…? (imitating muffled phone line)

CALLER: See, that’s what I’m saying right there. Instead of answering the question you want to make comments and jokes.

RUSH: (laughing)

CALLER: You have not answered the question. Rush Limbaugh, you —

RUSH: Charles, I’m trying to tell you I can’t understand what you’re saying. Please go slower than you are. Ask me the question you want me to answer.

CALLER: Okay. Question.

RUSH: Go.

CALLER: You would say and do what you need to do to support your family, correct?

RUSH: I would do what I need to do to support my family?

CALLER: Yes. Your controversial show. You have a whole lot of controversy when you speak about people talk about people and bring people’s situation to light, correct?

RUSH: Look —

CALLER: Whether it’s true — (unintelligible)

RUSH: I don’t… (sigh) I understand the question, but I don’t get the point of it. You’re asking me —

CALLER: The point is it doesn’t matter how much money anyone has.

RUSH: Can anybody understand what he’s saying? Do you understand it? I can’t make it out because of the phone line.

CALLER: It does not —

RUSH: Are you…? Charles, it sounds like you think that I have decided to be controversial in order to support my family.

CALLER: No. No. You listen (unintelligible). You still haven’t answered the question I asked.

RUSH: Well, then help me to understand the question. Of course… Charles, I’m just trying to be the best I can be. That’s all I’m trying to do. I’m trying to have fun, enjoy my life, and do what I do the best it can be done. I’m trying to do it better than anybody else does it, and at the same time I’m trying to make the business I’m in as profitable as it can be, all by trying to be my best. That’s it.

CALLER: So does it matter how much money the Clintons have to be president, to run for president, does it matter? Does it matter, Donald Trump is worth $3 billion.

RUSH: Okay, I see where we’re headed. You think I’m ripping the Clintons while I’m sitting here — no, I’m just saying — Charles, I’m talking about the stupidity of the voting public today. I’m not talking about how much money people have. I’m using how much money people have and how many people don’t fricking know it to talk about how stupid the American people have become. That’s what I’m talking about.

CALLER: How stupid have you become? You don’t want hear nothing about nothing.

RUSH: (laughing)

CALLER: You only hear —

RUSH: (laughing).

CALLER: It ain’t about money, it’s about the individual.

RUSH: You know Charles I’m beginning to think that I may be somewhat stupid —

CALLER: (laughing)

RUSH: — because while I think I saw most of what’s coming, there’s some things that I missed about just how off the tracks our country is, and I’m beginning to really ask myself, “Do I know as much as I think I know about how stupid people are.” So, yeah, you’re raising a good point here.

CALLER: Well, I don’t… Well, why do you not —

RUSH: What?

CALLER: — sit back and take an intelligent conversation instead of going up and down in the conversation and trying to little people when —

RUSH: I have intelligent conversations every day. I’m having one with you.

CALLER: No, you’re not. You know why I say you’re not? Because listen to you.

RUSH: I’m answering every question you’ve got. I’m being honest with you. Other hosts would have hung up on you 20 minutes ago.

CALLER: Well, if you wish to hang up, that’s the way that it’ll be. But my question you still have not answered.

RUSH: I’m not gonna hang up no matter how much people in the audience are demanding that I do it.

CALLER: My question to you still stands. What does it matter the amount of money anybody has long as they’re trying —

RUSH: Charles, let me tell you what it matters. It matters when Millennials, 34 years old, are asked who owns these $15 million houses, and think somebody who only makes a hundred grand a year owns ’em and cannot believe that the Clintons own ’em. When you have the news media convincing all of these people the Republicans are mean-spirited, sexist, racist, bigot, homophobes. When you have the news media lying about the Republican Party and individual Republicans who are great people, when you have the news media lying about it, and I’m pointing out examples of how successful the media lying is, that’s all I’m doing. It’s very intelligent, Charles. It’s so intelligent, it makes me wonder if I’ve been wasting my time for 27 years here.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: So I finally figured out what this guy was saying. I’ve had some people tell me what he was trying to say. He was trying to say: So what the Clintons got a lot of money. You have a lot of money, but the Clintons are doing good things for people, and you are doing controversy. That’s his point. The Clintons are doing things for people and I am just doing controversy.

Let me tell you something, Charles. You know what the Clintons do? The Clintons run around and beat up and attack and try to destroy the very people who’ve done what they’ve done. Hillary’s entire presidential campaign is based on class warfare. The Clintons constantly attack the rich as evil, and they are the rich. It’s just like the Kennedys. The Kennedys had money coming out of every orifice and then some, and they could run around and attack the rich even though they were at the top of the list of the rich.

You know what the difference between the Clintons and me is, Charles? I don’t ask anybody for a dime. The Clintons are constantly begging people for money. The Clintons are asking for this donation, that donation, please give me this, please give me that, $275,000 for a 10-minute speech? Charles, I don’t charge anybody a penny for any speech I give, and never have. And I pay my own expenses to get there. But none of this matters because none of this is ever gonna get reported. None of it’s ever gonna reach anybody, and it isn’t gonna matter if it did, because the Clintons are said to be good people, compassionate, care about people. Ask Monica Lewinsky how nice they are.

It’s pointless to have these conversations with people. I mean, it’s fun to listen to, I’m sure, it’s fun to do, but at the end of the day, in terms of changing people’s minds, Clinton equals Democrat equals they help people. I equal Republican, equals controversy, equals don’t help people. So what am I left to do? I would have to tell you, “You know how much money I’ve raised for this charity, how much I’ve given to that charity?” And you know how low class that sounds to do? So you can’t even go out and defend yourself on charges like this. And it’s not enough to say it’s the media. I mean, it is the media, but there are other factors involved. Remember, we are talking about limited intellect that we’re dealing with here.

Here’s Joe in Philadelphia. Joe, glad you called, great to have you on the EIB Network. Hello.

CALLER: Hey, Rush. Thanks for taking my call.

RUSH: You bet, sir.

CALLER: Rush, I listen to you because you’re positive all the time. Don’t get wrapped up with that. We love you. Please don’t give up. You’re not wasting your time. Smart people get it, I promise.

RUSH: I’m not gonna give up. I just blow off some steam now and then, but I’m not gonna give up.

CALLER: It was entertaining.

RUSH: Yeah, Joe, don’t worry, I’m not giving up. I’m gonna be totally positive like I always am.

CALLER: That’s why we love you, smart people get it. Mega 1% dittos from Philly. I’m worried about the whole country turning into Philadelphia like a microcosm where it’s been 50 years of Democrats and it seems like the whole federal government’s gonna go that way where we’re gonna have 50 years of Democrats. I’m trying to be positive and one thing I was thinking of is, going back to Christie, and I actually like Christie a little bit because the local media hates him so much, they put up the ugliest pictures of him, you know.

RUSH: Right.

CALLER: And I know wherever they’re going one way, I always try to go the other like you’ve taught us so well. But I just want to win, you know?

RUSH: See, our side is tired of losing. I hear you. I know exactly what you’re talking about.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Mark in Orlando. It’s great to have you with us, sir. Hello.

CALLER: Rush, what a pleasure. That previous caller is missing the point where you and Kathryn are such generous people. I remember when you matched the, what, $2 million that the letter had raised in the auction for our soldiers, and what you give away your books, your Two If By Tea, and yet the media portrays you as being controversial, and that gentleman has in his mind that you’re controversial. Whereas the Clintons go take a bunch of money from foreign countries for their Global Initiative, and they’re okay. That’s what this gentleman is missing is how the media will portray Rubio as being rich for an $80,000 boat. Trust me, it’s gotta be a 21- to 32-footer. You don’t get much more 80 grand anymore.

RUSH: By the way, you reminded me of something. I’ve even done more investigation on this Rubio story, and it turns out that the Rubio campaign liked the story the New York Times did on his fishing boat, 84 grand, because they thought it made him look like a real guy. My point is our people don’t even understand how the media is smearing of them! You can take a look what people think of Rubio’s wealth here as a result of that New York Times story. Average, ordinary Americans think that Marco Rubio lives in a $12 million house.

CALLER: Exactly. And that’s what the media has done, and that poor gentleman who had called a couple times ago was missing the point. He thinks that, yeah, it’s okay to have money as long as you do right with it. But here you are doing right with it and he’s been led to believe by the media, the other people do, and it’s way off base. Thank you for try to educate the American people every day and defending our Constitution, Rush.

RUSH: Thank you.

CALLER: You’re a very good man.

RUSH: I appreciate that very, very much. Yeah, you know, it’s a dilemma, because when you have a guy like that, “The Clintons have a lot of money, yeah, but they give it away! They help people. Controversies, that’s what you do!” You can’t take that person aside and say, “Can I explain to you?” Anything you say about yourself in that situation is considered ill-mannered. It just doesn’t… I don’t know that anybody has a way of effectively correcting people who have such erroneous conceptions of how other people are.

You look at the Koch brothers. The Koch brothers… Let’s talk David. (Charles Koch is a little quieter than David.) David Koch lives in New York. David Koch gave a cancer hospital in New York, I forget. $25 million, I think it was. It might have been $125, I don’t. But it was more money than anybody else has given. The reaction from people that worked at the hospital was to demand the hospital give it back, because David Koch is a reprobate. “He’s a Republican!” He’s actually not. He’s a libertarian, votes Republican, raises money for Republicans.

But they didn’t want the money because he didn’t really mean to give it. “He was just doing it because he knows people know how he really is. They know what a bad guy he really is, so he’s just giving that money to try to convince people he’s a nice guy.” What’s he to do? He didn’t do anything. He just continues to be philanthropic. That’s one of the things that David Koch has done, all of them. I mean, there’s a bunch of Koch brothers, and they’re all wealthy, and they are all philanthropic.

And they all are generous and do more for other people than the Kennedys and the Clintons and the Democrat Party combined. But even when you tell people, they don’t want to believe it. It doesn’t matter. It goes deeper than the actual behavior of being philanthropic or charitable. It goes deeper than that. I mean, the Clintons are out selling bribes. The Clintons are selling bribes to foreign countries, selling influence when Hillary’s secretary of state. Hillary Clinton is openly lying about what happened in Benghazi.

Hillary Clinton hasn’t done one thing for anybody, but for some reason — and this has spanned many generations. I mean, you talk to people that grow up in Democrat houses, and you listen to what they think of Republicans (particularly if he grew up in a union house, household), and it’s so deeply ingrained that any amount of real world evidence doesn’t sway them. Look at how easy it was to convince people that Mitt Romney is practically an inhumane murderer who didn’t pay his taxes. Look at how little effort was required to convince people that was all true.

Romney never even once tried to refute any of it, because he knows it’s a pointless exercise. It’s just like the allegation of racism. “I’m not racist. I’ve got plenty of black friends!” You know how that doesn’t work. That’s mocked and made fun of. Any evidence that you offer that you’re not what the media and the Democrats accuse you of just convinces people that you really are that stuff, and nobody has devised a method, nobody’s devised a technique to refute it and rebut it. Now, in the case… Everybody I know on the so-called Republican/conservative side, whatever philanthropy they engage in or charitable giving is not for anything other than the act itself.

They’re not trying to image build, nor are they trying to counter lies that are said of them. They actually are oriented toward philanthropy, charity, and good works. And yet it’s their motives that are impugned from the get-go simply because of the label that attaches to them. In this case, Republican or conservative. And I know right in the middle of the mix is the media.

But my only point here is, the point of telling you the story about this Campus Reform video, ilet me briefly review this. Campus Reform, it’s a website, one of the good guys, one of ours, they set up an easel and a giant poster board near the White House. And on the poster board were pictures of four or five mansions with the price tag underneath each one. They ranged in price from five million to $15 million, and they purposely stopped Millennials. Clean cut looking, average, ordinary, everyday, just good quality Millennial types, who owned the houses. “Who do you think owns these houses?” And the two names most mentioned were Marco Rubio and Dr. Ben Carson.

I didn’t know at the time the New York Times had done this story on Rubio and his $80,000 fishing boat ’cause that story happened when I was out for a week on vacation, but stop and think, even a story on an $80,000 fishing boat convinced people that Marco Rubio is one of these. That’s the first name that popped into their heads. And apparently the New York Times is a Bible to Millennials, whereas to you and I, it’s actual bird cage filth. We don’t believe anything in it because we know the bias and prejudice that goes into putting that paper together every day. The young skulls full of mush just eat it up, they swallow it, they believe every word of it.

When these Millennials, and they were male, female, black, white, in their thirties, when they were told that every one of those homes is owned by the Clintons, they could not believe it. And, further, they didn’t want to believe it. They had no idea. They were floored when they found out the Clintons owned them. Every house on that poster board. And just one young little Millennial woman said, “Wow. That may affect the way I vote.”

The others, “Oh, get out, the Clintons? No way. No way. Not possible.” As I say, we will link to the video here at Rush Limbaugh. We probably already have linked to it at RushLimbaugh.com. It wouldn’t be enough to play the audio for you because it’s like four or five minutes and we can’t let that much time go by without pictures so I have to tell you the story, but now that you’ve heard about what it is you can watch it, you can see it.

Marco Rubio lives in a house he put on the market a year and a half ago for $675,000. How do you arrive at Marco Rubio, of everybody in politics. The question was, “Politicians own these houses.” There was a qualification. They asked which politicians live in these houses. Rubio? Even a story with $80,000 fishing boat? Anyway, the Rubio campaign, I’m told, was very happy with the story. They have no idea how that story was actually absorbed by people who read it. The Rubio campaign, “Hey, that makes us out to be average, ordinary guys, $80,000 fishing boat?” No. For some sad reason, it doesn’t work that way.
