I don’t think anyone’s purposely trying to get the latest update on my cochlear implant wrong, it’s just that no one can talk to me about it, which makes it a little difficult. I think the most important rumor to squash right away is that I can hear again. I’ve been totally deaf for two and a half months, and I still am.
The other thing I want clear up is what’s going to happen once the implant is turned on. Folks, I have no idea. The doctors have no idea. You have to understand, this isn’t your typical surgery with an X, Y, or Z outcome. I could fall anywhere in the alphabet on this one, as no two cochlear implant patients are the same.
