RUSH: Here’s this big story, ladies and gentlemen. It’s in Science magazine but it shows up on the Nature.com website. Clear Skies End Global Dimming, is the headline. “Earth’s air is cleaner, but this may worsen the greenhouse effect. Our planet’s air has cleared up in the past decade or two, allowing more sunshine to reach the ground, say two studies in Science this week. Reductions in industrial emissions in many countries, along with the use of particulate filters for car exhausts and smoke stacks, seem to have reduced the amount of dirt in the atmosphere and made the sky more transparent. That sounds like very good news. But the researchers say that more solar energy arriving on the ground will also make the surface warmer, and this may add to the problems of global warming.” Now, can I offer an opinion on this? If this is going to increase global warming – and what do I know – but if this is going to increase global warming, this may be the first genuine man-made incident of it.
All this time they’ve been telling us that fossil fuel use and pollution and all this other rotgut that we human beings, primarily in America and the westernized world have been doing, has led to more pollutants up there, created a greenhouse effect and the earth is warming and pretty soon we’re all going to die because we’re going to boil to death or fry. And I’ve always said that earth warms and cools all the time. I’m not going to deny that there’s global warming going on because it happens all the time and I’m not going to deny that there’s global cooling that goes on all the time, either, because it does, but I will take serious issue with anybody who thinks that we human beings have the ability to cause it on such a worldwide or global scale as to be destructive in nature. We can’t cause global warming, therefore we can’t fix it. I mean, there’s no way we can cause it. It’s a bunch of vanity and pap, pop science. Now, what have we done? We have embarked on policies to clean up our atmosphere and our air, have we not? We have done incredibly good jobs at this. This is one of the problems I’ve always had with the global warming crowd. We capitalists, capitalists in the world, are the best mess cleaner uppers in the history of the world. You take a look at any western civilized nation and you go to a Third World nation and you tell me which does a better job cleaning up its messes. It’s not because the people are any different; it’s because they have more resources, we do, as capitalists.
That’s why I’ve always been in favor of exporting capitalism. You know, we don’t have an unfair distribution of resources in the world; we have an unfair distribution of capitalism. Okay, capitalists clean up, cleaning up our messes. We’re getting rid of a lot of emission pollution, smokestack pollution, all kinds of pollution, we’re cleaning it up. This has led to a more transplant atmosphere (gasping), a clearer sky (gasping), and so the sun can get here with fewer refractions and absorptions (gasping), and that may hasten global warming. Well, that may be right, that may be right, and in fact we may be causing this by cleaning it up, but it’s not (interruption) no, do you see my point? By doing the right thing we’re causing global warming. We can’t win. We’re doing the right thing and we cause global warming, we’re doing the wrong thing and we cause global warming. We do nothing we cause global warming. We all die, that will cause global warming. A nuke will cause global warming, hurricanes, global warming, snow storms, global warming, it has been colder in many parts of the country this spring than people can remember. I got on the phone and talked to them. It was 48 degrees this week one night in Atlanta. It hadn’t barely gotten to 70 all week in Atlanta. I’m talking to friends up there, “It’s never been this cold in May at all.” I said, “You know, it’s global warming.” “You know?” “Yeah, this is global warming!”

Yeah, because no matter what happens, the global warming aficionados, if it’s unseasonably cool, that’s because of global warming. Blizzards and snowstorms in the middle of February, that’s because of global warming. If it’s 90 degrees in April in Atlanta, that’s global warming the way they’ve got it structured.
Dawn, you took your daughter to the planetarium yesterday, right? How old is your daughter, 13? Oh, the one in first grade, okay. Six years old, so you took her to the planetarium. I didn’t know they had a planetarium here. Where the hell is it? Hm-hm. Okay. Never heard of that, either. I don’t know where the zoo is. They have a zoo here? What in the world is in the zoo, dogs and cats? Okay. Well, I know dogs and cats are real animals, too, but all right, so they got a zoo here. Planetarium, okay. The zoo is near Trump’s golf course. Must be those rejected from membership, then. All right. So we have a planetarium here, and Dawn took her six-year-old to the planetarium, and it was just a massive dose of global warming. Greenhouse gases causing global warming, they had to lay down on their backs and look up at the sky, global warming here, global warming there. This is being inculcated into young minds. They’re being indoctrinated with this utter BS from the earliest moments of their impressionability. It’s going to take hold, there’s nothing we can do about it other than talk sense about it, but it’s getting to the point now it’s ridiculous. We’re doing what we should be doing. We’re cleaning the air better than we ever have, and we’re still doomed, we still don’t have a fighting chance folks. We are suicidal. No matter what we do we’re killing ourselves. It’s the most preposterous bunch of news that is labeled science that I can remember coming down the pike in a long time. So cleaner air will make the world warmer. Our planet’s air is cleaned up in the past decade or two, it allows more sunshine to reach the ground, two studies in Science magazine say. So some people are saying, “Should we start polluting more in order to fight global warming?” But then people say, “No, no, the pollution causes global warming.” Well, wait a minute. How can pollution cause global warming if we’re getting rid of pollution and that’s causing global warming? So there’s nothing we can do, folks. In fact, there was a global warming report some six weeks ago that said it’s too late now to do anything anyway. Remember that? Too late to do anything, even if we started now we couldn’t stop it. And I said, “Well, hell, if we can’t stop it, how in the hell can we be accused of causing it?” It’s just asinine. It’s totally a hundred percent absurd.
I have this question. You know, there has been a period of time in this planet before we were here. I mean, man was here, but not all these industrialized nations polluting. There was a time when man was here with no automobiles, just a bunch of horses and carts, and horse manure, donkeys and donkey manure. That kind of stuff was in the middle of the street, just watch Deadwood and you’ll see what I mean. You have to pick your way through this stuff. You don’t want to ever fall down going through those old towns but we’ve got to go back and live that way. All right, my point is, if back in time when we had no automobiles, no fossil fuels being burned, none of the typical industrial pollution going on, the air would have been very clean then, too, right? Very transparent then, too, right? Why didn’t we all fry to death back then? How come cowboys survived? How come when you watch a western the cowboys aren’t even sweating? Have you ever noticed that? Have you ever gone out to the old west? It’s hot as hell out there. You can’t take five steps without sweating through your clothes and everything else. I watch a John Wayne movie, I never see him sweat. They don’t even look like they stink. They must not have been very hot, either when they were making the movies or out in the old west because if they had no pollution the earth would have fried way back then. Why didn’t it? Now, these are questions I am sure that if I asked these pointy-headed intellectual scientific elites, I’d be discarded and ignored as a plebe who doesn’t understand the intricacies of the global climate and climatology and so forth and so on. But, my friends, you have to understand something here. There’s no hope. Clear skies end global dimming, clear skies increase odds of global warming. Pollution is causing the greenhouse effect, which is going to lead to global warming. I mean, we’re doomed, we’re finished. May as well just forget it and go ahead and live your life and wait till you fry.
