Civilian on the Phone from Iraq

by Rush Limbaugh - Jul 16,2007

RUSH: Here’s Curt, a civilian who is on the phone from Iraq. Curt, I’m glad you called. Welcome to the program.

CALLER: How are you doing, Rush? It is an honor to talk to you.

RUSH: Thank you, sir.

CALLER: I just wanted to thank you for that Rush in a Hurry newsletter that comes out, since we only get one hour of you a day here.

RUSH: You listen on Armed Forces Radio?

CALLER: Yes.

RUSH: Okay. Well, what do you do? I mean, you’re a civilian. What kind of work are you doing?

CALLER: Um… I’m not sure I should really say.

RUSH: Ah. It’s classified! That’s quite all right. I understand. I’m sorry I asked. I was just trying to learn a little about you, get to know you. Well, I’m glad that you get the Rush in a Hurry, but there’s a problem. You are only able to hear one hour of the program, but you’ve got a summary of the whole problem. It’s got a drive you nuts to see what you’re missing.

CALLER: Well, there are a lot of holes in the synopsis here, but I understand you can’t send it all, so…

RUSH: (laughing) Well, we’ve gotta find a way. Are you allowed to go on a computer and stream audio and video, or are there restrictions on your machine for that?

CALLER: No, we can do that, especially at eight o’clock at night. So…

RUSH: And that’s what time it is now, coming up on eight o’clock?

CALLER: It’s coming up on nine right now.

RUSH: Coming up on nine, right, there’s an eight-hour difference. Well, you could actually listen to it on the website. You could be listening to live-streaming audio even as we speak.

CALLER: Actually, yeah, I could, couldn’t I?

RUSH: Yeah, you could. You actually could. See what Rush in a Hurry has done for you? It has opened up new vistas of opportunity and knowledge, and that’s what happens on this program. Curt, thanks for going to the trouble of calling us all the way from Iraq, doing classified work. I could tell he was tempted to tell me, but I shut it down because, I understand rules and regs. Curt, thanks much.
