RUSH: Bud in Red Wing, Minnesota, thanks for waiting and welcome.

CALLER: Thank you very much, sir. It’s nice to speak to you. Happy birthday, by the way.

RUSH: Thank you very much.

CALLER: I just wanted to call and talk to you because just before you went on vacation for the Christmas holiday, you had done this brilliant monologue in response to comments by the Archbishop of Canterbury.

RUSH: Oh, yes.

CALLER: I was highly impressed with that. I mean, you’re always impressive, but this was so insightful.

RUSH: Well, I appreciate it. This is a guy — Dr. Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury — a typical, liberal priest who was disparaging everything. ‘Well, you know, the star of Bethlehem, it didn’t stand still. Stars don’t do that.’ He was doing everything he could to say, ‘Don’t believe in biblical miracles.’ He even went so far as to get close to the resurrection, and say, ‘Well, you can still have Christian and have doubts about the resurrection.’ No you can’t! The resurrection is the key.

CALLER: It’s what Christianity is all about. Absolutely.

RUSH: It’s the key, and if that didn’t happen, and none of it happened. For an archbishop, the archbishop of Canterbury, to come out and try to water down like that? He can have whatever religion he wants. I remember what I said, he can have whatever religion he wants, whatever faithful belief he wants. Don’t call it Christianity.

CALLER: Absolutely.

RUSH: It’s just another one of these liberals trying to tear down institutions and traditions that people find comfort in, and they use as anchors. It burned me up, especially on the verge here of Christmas! Bud, I appreciate that. It’s very nice for you to have remembered, since before the holidays, and to call and tell me that.
