RUSH: I got an e-mail note from a friend with a website, says, ‘You’ve got to click on this.’ It’s live from the Western Wall in Jerusalem. And I clicked on it. What I got was live streaming, excellent picture quality of Obama showing up and then going to the Western Wall and placing his prayer in the crevices, something I, ladies and gentlemen, have done. I did this back in 1993. In walking out, there were campaign signs there. I don’t know who put them up, but this is a sacred holy site and this place last night was turned into a bit of a campaign. And the Drive-Bys are not reporting this, but he was not universally loved at this place, at this site last night. This is an unidentified protestor at the Western Wall in Jerusalem. It was early in the morning, predawn in Israel, about 5:08 when Obama got there. He left at 5:20. And this is one of the things that happened.
RUSH: Were you able to hear that? Protestor shouting, ‘Jerusalem is not for sale, Obama, Jerusalem is our land, Jerusalem is our land.’ CBS also has a story about poor old Barry, he just can’t get past the fact that his middle name’s Hussein and it makes people over here in Israel a little uncomfortable. And they hold up a copy of — anyway, Sheila MacVicar is the info babe that did that story. But there was a lot more ruckus than just this one guy is the point, and they got out of there pretty quickly. There was some resentment here that the whole event had been turned into a campaign appearance. This is exactly what it looked like, by the way. And it was crowded. There was a lot of people there even at 5:08, 5:20 in the morning Israeli time. I don’t know, folks. I tried to take my bias out, the whole meaning of this trip, as I’m watching this because I’ve been there. I have been to this site, and I know the only thing you hear there are prayers. It’s outdoors. You hear neighborhood sounds and so forth, but it just seemed unseemly with a bunch of SUVs pulling in there, Obama getting out, walking in, being escorted by Israeli officials, being told what to do. He’s following his lead and then leaves. Some people were shaking his hand, too. Don’t misunderstand. But there was a lot more ruckus than the Drive-Bys are reporting.
RUSH: I mentioned earlier in the first hour of the program that while exhaustingly engaged, feverishly so in show prep last night, a friend of mine sent me a web link to the live camera at the Western Wall in Jerusalem. And when I got the link, the Obama campaign had arrived. Lots of SUVs, and I looked. It was in a usual three by three, four by three inch screen size, maybe two by three. The images were very clear, looked like a high-definition picture actually, but I could swear I saw campaign signs at this very holy and sacred place. I wasn’t sure, but I thought I saw it for certain. And yet, my friends, once again my instincts and my eyes were right on the money. Aaron Klein writing at WorldNetDaily: ‘Sen. Barack Obama’s campaign plastered the entrance to the Western Wall — the holiest site in Judaism — with official campaign posters, WND has learned. Jerusalem Police spokesman Mickey Rosenfeld confirmed to WND posters that adorned police barricades erected at the Western Wall plaza for Obama’s visit were distributed by the presidential candidate’s campaign. ‘These posters were his campaign and not the doing of the police,’ said Rosenfeld, whose police department coordinated security and provided protection for Obama’s visit today to the holy site. Asked if it was traditional practice for politicians visiting the Western Wall to bring along posters or campaign materials, Rosenfeld replied, ‘No.’ Obama campaign posters can be seen in media footage of the Illinois senator’s early morning surprise visit to the Western Wall. The posters display Obama’s name in Hebrew.’
Okay, if that’s what they were, then they are huge. Because I’ve been there, and I didn’t see when I was there what I saw. They’re huge posters with Obama’s name in Hebrew. I, of course, didn’t know that. ‘One poster erected on the main police barricade used by Obama to enter the holy site boasts the official red, white and blue campaign ‘O’ symbol and advertises the candidate’s campaign’s website. A second poster also displays Obama’s name in Hebrew and contains an image of Israeli and American flags. Reuters posted images of the Obama campaign posters showing a handful of people waiting behind the police barricades. Reuters images had the following caption: ‘Supporters of U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) stand behind banners printed with his name in Hebrew as they wait for his arrival at the Western wall.’ The caption implied supporters brought along the pro-Obama material,’ when it was the campaign that did it.
So thanks to Aaron Klein of WorldNetDaily. I just knew that what I was looking at was what I was looking at, what I saw was what I saw last night. He lectures us on protocol, lectures us on the fact that we don’t speak foreign languages, lectures us in how we’ve got to remake the world. You know, if this gets widely out, this would be like papering the Vatican, if he went over there and papered the Vatican with Obama campaign signs outside in the plaza. This is not surprising to me how you have this kind of ego and arrogance and then to pass it off on Israelis who couldn’t wait to see Obama. He got there at 5:08, folks, 5:08 in the morning. The sun was just barely coming up. I can see it there. He left at 5:20 amidst shouts, ‘Jerusalem is not for sale, Obama.’ Now this makes sense. ‘Jerusalem is not for sale, Obama.’
