RUSH: His name is Cedric. He’s from North Haven, Connecticut, and it’s great to have you on the EIB Network, Cedric. Welcome.
CALLER: Hi, Rush. Happy Friday.
RUSH: Same to you, sir.
CALLER: Yeah. It used to be Friday was a payday but we’re paid biweekly now, one other thing that slows us down here. But I wanted to —
RUSH: Don’t worry, it’s going to change.
CALLER: (laughing) I wanted to thank you —
RUSH: You’re going to get paid every day, Cedric.
RUSH: Gas tank’s going to get filled up, your mortgage is going to get paid off, no worries.
CALLER: Yeah, I called to thank you, honestly, because I had been, for about five years my coworker was a Republican, every day arguing and debating the ideology of the parties, but, you know, he was a listener, you know, Rush and Hannity, he listened, and he pretty much got turned off by the daily smears and no real Republican message.
RUSH: What, your Republican buddy got turned off by the daily smears?
CALLER: Yeah, he voted for Barack. I was amazed. It wasn’t because of me, it was because of you.
RUSH: I’ll bet you a dollar to a doughnut if we’d have had a nominee that had been articulating what your Republican buddy’s ideas, core principles are, that he would have voted for that nominee.
CALLER: Yeah, that’s what he said.
RUSH: Well, how do you blame me for that? I didn’t nominate our guy.
CALLER: No, but he was turned off by the daily smears, the —
RUSH: What daily smears?
CALLER: No message, just daily smears —
RUSH: From who?
CALLER: — attacks.
RUSH: From me?
CALLER: Yeah, you and Hannity.
RUSH: Oh, come on, Cedric. All we did was tell the truth about who Obama is when our colleagues on the Drive-By Media wouldn’t. We’re not smearing anybody. Is it a smear to play Reverend Wright?
CALLER: It’s an association game, and it had no place —
RUSH: It’s no game. It’s his pastor. He chose him for 20 years. Pastor baptized the two kids, his wife is sitting there all — everybody around Obama was angry all —
CALLER: Let me ask you, did you ever see the PBS interview, the Moyers interview with Reverend Wright which —
CALLER: — put everything in perspective?
RUSH: I did. I heard about they took the snippets. None of that was out of context. When you say God damn America —
CALLER: It was out of context, which —
RUSH: It wasn’t out of context. It wasn’t out of context. When you say after 9/11 America’s chickens are coming home to roost and we got what we deserved, there’s no out of context there, Cedric.
CALLER: No, but it’s metaphorically — the point he was putting across is we can’t go out and do things around the world —
RUSH: We didn’t. See, there you go, blaming the United States and saying we’re guilty and responsible for the terrorist attack against us, that’s not smearing, that’s trying to tell people the truth. Glad to talk to you, though, Cedric, thanks much.
