RUSH: I’ll tell you what’s become abundantly clear to me, and that is that I don’t care whether you’re talking about domestic policy or foreign policy, it’s not about the United States anymore, it’s about Barack Obama. I really do believe the guy’s got a God complex. I really do think he believes he is The One. We’ve got some audio sound bites coming up to illustrate this, but perhaps the most outrageous or, depending on how you look at it, the funniest story to me coming out of the weekend from the summit was a story from the Associated Press, Steven Hurst, comparing Obama favorably, favorably to Mikhail Gorbachev.

Now, before we get to the details of this, I want to take you back to last Tuesday. We had a great call from Victor in Boca Raton, Florida, who had lived under Soviet communism, had escaped, come to the United States. He made the brilliant point that he sees similar things here to what he saw then in the Soviet Union. For example, in the middle of Stalin’s reign of terror and the massive famines, a lot of Soviet people, ‘Well, Stalin can’t possibly know about this.’ He was so beloved, he was so respected by the Soviet Union people that 10 million, 11 million deaths, Stalin could not possibly have known about that. And he said, ‘You’re exactly right, Mr. Limbaugh, when you say the administration says, ‘Well, Obama doesn’t know this is all going on. He can’t possibly or it wouldn’t be happening if Obama knew about it.” And during the course of my conversation I happened to make a joke. Listen to this.

CALLER: Thank you. Please — please — please hang in there. Don’t trust any of these whiners who call and complain. You are indispensable for us, and I just hope you stay healthy in all that happens to you.

RUSH ARCHIVE: Thank you, Victor. And we’re going to continue our fight here against glasnost and perestroika from the Obama administration.

RUSH: I’m making a joke. Glasnost and perestroika, the two big policies that the left credited Gorbachev with, for opening up the Soviet Union, ending communism, and of course Reagan just happened to be a dunce bystander while all this was going on. So last Tuesday, after making a joke that we’re going to be keeping a sharp eye on a fight on glasnost and perestroika from the Obama administration, get this: ‘President Barack Obama has gone abroad and gored an ox – the deeply held belief that the United States does not make mistakes in dealings with either friends or foes. And in the process, he’s taking a huge gamble both at home and abroad, for a payoff that could be a long time coming, if ever. By way of explanation, senior adviser David Axelrod describes the president’s tactics this way: ‘You plant, you cultivate, you harvest. Over time, the seeds that were planted here are going to be very, very valuable,” meaning the seeds at the Americas summit.

‘While historic analogies are never perfect, Obama’s stark efforts to change the US image abroad are reminiscent of the stunning realignments sought by former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev.’ Well, hells bells here, folks. The Drive-By Media has just compared our president to a communist leader of the Soviet Union and they have done so, they think, in a complimentary way. ‘During his short — by Soviet standards — tenure, he scrambled incessantly to shed the ideological entanglements that were leading the communist empire toward ruin.’ So we have here a comparison, our president, Barack Obama, to Mikhail Gorbachev. Gorbachev, it is said here by Steven Hurst, was trying to get rid of the ideological entanglements that destroyed the Soviet Union. What were those? What were the ideological entanglements that were destroying the Soviet Union? It’s called communism! What Gorbachev was trying to do — and you cannot count on the Drive-Bys to tell you this factually — Gorbachev knew full well that the economic days of the Soviet Union had never met their promise and there was no future, and it was over. What Gorbachev was trying to do was hold onto a communist leadership while parceling out freedoms — perestroika, glasnost, openness, and all that — but it was too late, because you can’t parcel out freedom.

Once you enslave people who have experienced freedom, they want all of it. They do not accept little bits here and there, and Gorbachev was not able to maintain control of the communist government of the Soviet Union, at least he wasn’t able to maintain his hold on it. So we have a comparison here. ‘Gorbachev scrambled incessantly to shed the ideological entanglements that were leading the communist empire toward ruin.’ Obama, according to AP, is doing the same thing. Obama is shedding incessantly the ideological entanglements that lead the US to ruin — what are the ideological entanglements Obama is shedding? Capitalism! Now, would somebody explain to me the connection here? How can you claim that Gorbachev and Obama are the same, when they were trying, ostensibly, to shed different ideological entanglements?

And get this next paragraph: ‘But Obama is outpacing even Gorbachev. After just three months in power, the new American leader has, among many other things:
– Admitted to Europeans that America deserves at least part of the blame for the world’s financial crisis because it did not regulate high-flying and greedy Wall Street gamblers.
– Told the Russians he wants to reset relations that fell to Cold War-style levels under his predecessor, George W. Bush.’

Oh, yeah, all of this is our fault. All of this is the fault of the United States of America, but it’s not his fault because Obama gets to exempt himself. He wasn’t alive, he wasn’t old enough, none of this was happening when he had anything to do with it. So he’s going to come along and he’s going to apologize to the people of the world for his own country. He’s not apologizing for him. And he’s not representing the best interests of the United States here.

‘- Asked NATO for more help in the fight in Afghanistan, and, not getting much, did not castigate alliance partners.
– Lifted some restrictions on Cuban Americans’ travel to their communist homeland and eased rules on sending wages back to families there.
– Shook hands with, more than once, and accepted a book from Hugo Chavez, the virulently anti-American leader of oil-rich Venezuela.’

I had a friend of mine sending me some notes over the weekend about this, and I said this is not hard to understand. Please, folks, this is a ‘virulently anti-American leader, Hugo Chavez.’ Do you realize that Obama and Chavez have more in common than they do not have in common? One of the big things they don’t have in common, and I think this is an important point, first you’ve got Obama over there kissing the ring of the Saudi king, and what do we care about the Saudis for? Oil. So he’s kissing their hand. He goes down to Venezuela, yuks it up, yuks it up with Hugo Chavez, who has insulted the United States of America, insulted George W. Bush at the UN two years ago, called him the devil, said, ‘I can still smell the sulfur here in the room.’ Goes down, yuks it up with these guys, accepts a book as a gift from some leftist that claims the United States is the focus of evil in all of the western hemisphere. Central America, South America, we have plundered, we have destroyed. Obama accepts the book from Hugo Chavez, yuks it up, Hugo Chavez has nationalized his nation’s oil companies. His oil wealth is the hold he has on the country, that and his command of the media. Chavez and Obama — and the word has gotten out that they were yukking it up and they were good friends, and viva Obama, and now Chavez is going to put the ambassador from Venezuela back into Washington, he’s gonna restore these kind of ambassadorial ties.

He said ‘America’s appetite for illegal drugs and its lax control of the flow of guns and cash to Mexico were partly to blame for the drug-lord-inspired violence that is rattling the southern U.S. neighbor.’ He said this: ‘One of the benefits of my campaign and how I’ve been trying to operate as president is I don’t worry about the politics — I try to figure out what’s right in terms of American interests, and on this one I think I’m right,’ meaning yukking it up with Chavez. And the last line of the AP piece: ‘So thought Gorbachev. But being right is not always politically healthy.’ So he’s Mikhail Gorbachev. Now, you have to understand the media template. They love Gorbachev. Gorbachev saved the world. Gorbachev saved the world from Reagan. They are factually uninformed and refuse to see the truth on this. So now our president has been compared favorably, and he’s own outpacing a Soviet communist dictator, Mikhail Gorbachev. I can’t help think of the idiots on our side, the so-called intelligent conservatives who kept saying, ‘Well, at least he’s a centrist. At least Obama is following Bush’s foreign policy. At least he’s appointing centrists on foreign policy and defense.’ They’ve never understood who this guy is. He’s either a useful idiot or he’s worse. And I, frankly, think he’s worse. I think he’s stupid, Obama, but he’s been trained well, Bill Ayers, Jeremiah Wright, all of his liberal professors, and now he’s going to meet with the cabinet today.

He’s gonna meet with cabinet today to make a big PR splash about how he’s telling them to cut their budgets. How clever, after increasing spending with trillions in deficits. Let me give you the numbers. Barack Obama, big PR thing, and it’s working, the Drive-By Media’s, ‘Oh, oh, oh, Obama’s cutting spending, Obama’s cutting spending,’ they’re just having orgasms here over what Obama’s cutting in spending. He’s ordered a hundred million dollars in budget cuts. Do you know what the interest per day is on the Porkulus bill? Try $95 million. He’s not even eliminating the interest on the Porkulus bill with these budget cuts and yet he’s getting all of this, ‘Oh, he’s cutting spending, he’s cutting spending.’ There’s no way it’s going to happen anyway. A hundred million dollars in budget cuts, compared to $4 trillion in spending and debt. Just amazing. He increases the deficit fourfold. Then he says he’s going to cut it in half, even the CBO said baloney to that, you’re not cutting anything. The bigger point here is he doesn’t want to cut spending, he doesn’t care if it’s spent well or not, his goal is to crush the private sector, and he just got through palling around with people who have crushed their own private sectors in their own countries, yukking it up and palling around with them.
