RUSH: Rick in Fayetteville, Arkansas, glad you called, sir, great to have you on the EIB Network, sir. Hello.

CALLER: Mr. Limbaugh.

RUSH: Yes!

CALLER: Dittos from the college town that created the Clintons.

RUSH: Thank you, sir, very much, great to have you here from the college town that created the Clintons.

CALLER: Yeah, I know, it’s not that good.

RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: Hey, last night on his press conference, this sharp looking black guy from BET stood up and said, ‘Mr. President, in New York, the unemployment rate among black American males is 50%. What, in your stimulus package is, going to help them out?’ And all he talked about was education, health care and energy. And it was the most lame answer, and all I kept thinking was this guy — and all he talked about was African-Americans and Latinos. And I thought, this reporter’s gotta be back here going, ‘I don’t care about Latinos, what are you going to do for the brothers? Because we put you in this office. What are you going to do?’ And he had no answer. It was horrible.

RUSH: You know why he’s got no answer?

CALLER: (Unintelligible) answer.

RUSH: I will tell you why he’s got no answer, ’cause he’s not working on it. He’s not working on the dropout rate. He might say so. But I thought the American education system was designed to educate people and not have anybody drop out. The dirty little secret is — and, by the way, Hispanic and African-American dropout rates in major American cities run by Democrats — in New York it’s 50% — but I don’t care what blue city you go to, whatever blue city, whatever city run by Democrats, the education system is a mess, unemployment rates are high. And they’re not doing anything about it. ‘What do you mean, Mr. Limbaugh? They’re trying to fix it all the time.’ That’s my point. They’ve been trying to fix it all the time. For as long as I’ve been alive, they’ve been trying to reduce the dropout rate, it’s going up. Are they really fixing it? Are they really trying to fix it? Well, unemployment, dropout, whatever, dropout rate’s the same thing. It’s the same situation. It’s Democrat-run cities. It’s rotten economies, it’s Democrat-run states. Michigan is a state, Detroit a city.

Whether it’s the unemployment rate or whether it’s the dropout rate, education, it’s the same thing, you ask about education, ask about unemployment, you get health care. He’s just going to spread his agenda on this stuff. They’re not trying to fix it. ‘Mr. Limbaugh, I disagree. They are morally outraged by the unemployment rate.’ It’s just gotten worse in the last three months. I don’t see anything being done to stop it. See, the dirty little secret is that the more misery among people who are already miserable are voting Democrat anyway. People in dire educational or economic circumstances are already voting Democrat, and they’ve been voting Democrat all their lives, under the premise it’s all gonna get better. It doesn’t get better, particularly in blue cities, major metro areas. The conclusion, therefore, has to be one of two things: Either they don’t know how to fix it, quote, unquote, or they don’t want to.

If you have a statist and authoritarian whose objective is to grow the government as large as possible, the fundamental element of that is having as many people dependent on that government as possible. And then when you have them dependent, it also furthers your cause to blame other people, like the Republicans, or the rich, or others who don’t care about the fact you don’t have a job or you can’t get an education. Do you people realize how absurd it is to say that people cannot get an education in the United States of America? Do you realize how absurd that is? If you are not being educated in this country, you ain’t trying. It’s just that simple.
