Vet Forced to Smoke Cheap Cigars

by Rush Limbaugh - May 19,2009

RUSH: Scott, Washington Township, New Jersey, nice to have you on the EIB Network. Hello.

CALLER: Yeah, hey, Rush, I’ve been a student of yours, EIB since ’91.

RUSH: Thank you, sir, very much.

CALLER: Yeah. You know how Obama said he wouldn’t raise taxes on the average person, only the rich?

RUSH: Well, what he said was that we’re gonna raise taxes on 95% of the American people.

CALLER: (laughing) Well, anyway, you know, cigarette taxes went up 50 cents per pack, and I’m a cigar smoker, each cigar went up 60 cents. I can no longer afford the average cigar I used to smoke. Now I have to smoke a cheaper, less tasty cigar.

RUSH: Well, have a couple drinks, you won’t notice the difference. Of course the tax on booze has gone up too.

CALLER: Well, I don’t drink.

RUSH: Then you’re screwed. Then you gotta get used to the worthless taste of the cheaper cigars.

CALLER: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I also drive an SUV, I have a family of six and a German shepherd, and we need a big vehicle to go wherever we need to go.

RUSH: Better enjoy it while you can. Pretty soon the car you drive is going to be big enough for you and the dog.

CALLER: Yeah, yeah. Hey and finally I’m a former Navy pilot, and I took an oath to defend the Constitution from enemies both foreign and domestic, and it looks like we might have a domestic enemy.

RUSH: What did you fly when you were with the Navy?

CALLER: H-46 helicopters, big twin rotor helicopters.

RUSH: Wow. Cool. H-46. I’ll look ’em up.

CALLER: It’s like the Army Chinook. It’s a little smaller, a little faster.

RUSH: So here’s a man, ladies and gentlemen, served his country in the United States Navy, has an SUV with a German shepherd and six family members, he was told by the president of the United States that his taxes would not go up and now he’s smoking cigars essentially made from tobacco swept off the tobacco room floor because they’re cheaper. This is a good lesson. Everybody’s taxes are going up. Everybody’s. There’s not one person in this country whose taxes, federal taxes, are not going up. Thanks for the call, Scott.
