Rev. Jackson: What Happened?

by Rush Limbaugh - Oct 2,2009

RUSH: Los Angeles Times: ‘Chicago’s Swift Elimination at 2016 Olympics Host is Political Blow to Obama.’ F. Chuck Todd must not have written that story. From Fox News: ‘Obamas Fail in Personal Pitch.’ The Daily Mail UK: ‘Humiliation for Obama as Chicago is Eliminated in First Round of Voting.’ I wonder what David Brooks thinks. Obama is Brooks’ guy. For the UK Times Online: ‘Obama’s Olympic Failure Will Only Add to Doubts About his Presidency.’ What? Look at the word here, in the Fox News headline: ‘Obama Fails;’ and ‘Humiliation for Obama’ and the word ‘failure’ here at the UK Times Online. For those of you on the other side of the aisle listening in who were upset that I sound gleeful, I am.

I don’t deny it. I’m happy. Anything that gets in the way of Barack Obama accomplishing his domestic agenda is fine with me. I stand by it. You know, I don’t want Obamacare to succeed. I want national health care, socialized medicine to fail. I want cap and trade, a national carbon tax emissions policy based on a hoax to fail. I do not want the government owning car companies. I don’t want the government running banks. I don’t want the government in charge of loans, I don’t want any of it. I want all of that to fail. And for those things to fail, I’m sure to say, our president must fail, because they’re his ideas. It is the ideas I want to fail, but the architect of those ideas must (by the same sense of logic) also fail at the same time as the ideas do. So anything that weakens and helps people to see the real Obama, it’s a step forward. Gotta say it. Not gonna sit here and be silent. You know me, I’m not politically correct. The Reverend Jackson is dismayed. He was on the Fox Business Network. ‘What’s your reaction to this, Reverend Jackson?’

JACKSON: I would like to know what happened, ’cause there’s always underlying politics in these decisions, but I’m shocked and saddened, and I really anticipated we would win. We sent our A-team, president, first lady, made such a great presentation; the mayor, the governor, Oprah Winfrey, our Olympic — Olympians.

RUSH: They ‘sent the A-team.’ See, this is their problem. The A-team is 0-for-3! The president and first lady did not make a great presentation. It was all about them, Reverend Jackson, and aside from the media in this country and some cult-like followers in this country the people don’t care about them. They don’t have this personal cult-like investment in the Obamas. People aren’t going to award an Olympic city just because a couple of Obamas show up and ask for it based on sad, gut-wrenching personal stories. Then the reporter said to the Reverend Jackson, ‘There was about a 50-50 split in terms of people’s support for the city one of the lowest. Do you think that had a role? I mean, clearly members of the African-American community in Chicago were concerned about it, their neighborhoods potentially being exploited.’

JACKSON: It’s not just African-American! That’s not fair! I mean, this is all of Chicago involved. There is concern about displacement, about costs which came from all sides of town, the taxing burden. But also the opportunity to come with that. I’m concerned, of course, that we were committing ourselves to provide security for the hosts’ children who right now are in jeopardy. But that should not have been the main factor, the deal breaker in getting the Olympics in Chicago. I — I just don’t understand it yet.

RUSH: I don’t understand it. So there’s going to be an investigation. (interruption) Well, I didn’t understand half of what had he said, either, but I have the transcript you want me to read what he said? ‘It’s not just African-American! That’s not fair! I mean, this is all of Chicago involved. If there is concern about displacement,’ meaning Valerie Jarrett’s slums would be torn down and people kicked out. ‘There is concern about displacement, about costs which came from all sides of town, the taxing burden. But also the opportunity to come with that,’ the opportunities that come from the tax burden; and ‘we were committing ourselves to provide security for the hosts’ children who right now…’ Oh, is that what this was about, homes for children? That’s what the Olympic bid was about? Anyway, ‘that should not have been the main factor, the deal breaker in getting the Olympics in Chicago. I — I just don’t understand it yet.’

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I want to go back, I want to play — because I just enjoy it so much — I want to play the sound bite from the Reverend Jackson earlier today when asked on the Fox Business Network for his reaction to the embarrassing, humiliating failure and defeat of the Obamas and Oprah in Copenhagen.

(replaying of sound bite)

Let me assist here. Reverend Jackson, what happened was that a bunch of white Europeans voted against Obama, plain and simple. That’s what happened, Jesse. How soon before we see the new Obama bumper sticker: ‘No, We Can’t’? And think about this, folks. It is quite possible that Chicago may have gotten the Olympics if Obama hadn’t politicized the process; if he hadn’t gone over there in the first place; if he hadn’t sent his wife over there in the first place; if they hadn’t politicized it and had the media come over there and tell the world, ‘Oh, what rock stars, oh, these people have come and taken over. They are just the most popular people here.’ You know, human beings are human beings, they have jealousies. This is the IOC’s show, it wasn’t The Obama Show. They came over there, they tried to hijack the whole thing and the IOC bitch slapped them. It’s no more complicated than that. How about sop journalists looking into that angle of the story? Jesse Jackson wants to know what happened? Well, find out what really happened. Don’t just sit there and impugn the vote. Find out what really happened. Could be that the International Olympic Committee members simply didn’t like the arrogance of what the Obamas were doing. And maybe they don’t give two squats about Oprah Winfrey, who is now eating her way through the fjords after consuming Norway.

Here is Ken in Detroit as we go to the phones. Great to have you on the EIB Network. Hello.

CALLER: Yeah, Rush, I wanted to say that I am extremely happy that the International Olympic Committee did reject Chicago for the Olympic games. My reasoning behind it is that it shows me that the rest of the world, they have the intellect, the intelligence necessary to see through and reject the phony and the undeserving rock star, superstar, messiah image of Barack Obama that’s being promoted in this country.

RUSH: It could be that. It could also be that the IOC hates America.

CALLER: I don’t think so, Rush, because —

RUSH: It could also be that Europeans hate America. Look, just because George Bush is gone does not mean all this so-called animus against the country, the United States is gone. I think you’re right to a point. I do think that the IOC, as I just said, they’re human beings. Here comes this entourage over there, they’re taking over, and they got their media in tow, and there are stories all over the US media, the worldwide media, ‘Oh, the rock stars are here, oh, they’re taking over, oh, everybody loves them, oh, this or that, oh, my God, we can’t get enough of them, can I get a picture with you, please?’ I think it does illustrate that the image of Obama concocted by our fraudulent, corrupt media is a total myth.

CALLER: Well, Rush —

RUSH: It’s even a myth in this country.

CALLER: Well, Rush, I don’t think it really is a problem with the world not liking America and I say that because I know a lot of people who travel around the world and for the most part they actually do like us.

RUSH: Yes, I know, but I’m talking about these European socialist leader types.

CALLER: Well, you gotta look at countries like Germany, they’ve been voting in candidates who are pro-capitalist. They’ve been rejecting the old socialist way and they’ve found it does not work.

RUSH: The Labor Party is on its last skids in Great Britain, too. What is in store for us has happened to them, and they’re ready to throw the bums out in Great Britain.
