New Rush Media Center Debuts

by Rush Limbaugh - Mar 5,2010

RUSH: Folks, before we continue here with the meat of the program, a little update for those of you who are subscribers at RushLimbaugh.com. Today we’re launching our new media player, the Rush Media Player, and as usual, we’re testing it live. Why is this so funny, Brian? We’re testing it live. I mean, we could sit here for six months and say, ‘Folks, we’re working on our new media player,’ and so forth. We like to test things live. (interruption) My mood’s actually pretty good. I was just temporarily upset because I had to turn the Dittocam on, turn the microphone on, hit the cough switch, print something, make sure the cable doesn’t get run over by the chair. I feel like I’m 16 years old where I had to go and turn on the transmitter.

At any rate, where was I? Oh, yes. The new Rush Media Player. This is how Rush 24/7 members can now watch the Flash high-definition Dittocam. All you do, click on the flash HD icon, as always, and make sure you’re logged in and you’ll get right to the new player, where the Dittocam will automatically start playing when the show is on the air. You get four channels now in the Rush Media Player, you get the Dittocam, the Morning Update, TV appearances and speeches. Of course, I haven’t been to too many of those last two on purpose because I hate ’em. All archived Dittocams, Morning Updates are now in HD or available there, too. It’s just one easy-to-use and easy-to-find place, the Rush Media Player. Now, the free side can only access the TV and speeches channel but that’s pretty good, too. Interviews on numerous TV shows and stuff like the CPAC speech, Rush to Excellence appearances, they are available to people on the free side. There are some new features that we have on the Rush Media Player that again we’re testing live, option to go full screen, you can share links and embed the free videos on blogs. You can rate the videos — which are all mine so they’re all going to be five stars — but you still rate ’em anyway. The player has its own search engine. The link to it is right at the top of the homepage so everybody go check it out at RushLimbaugh.com.

RUSH: All right, only two complaints so far about the new Rush Media Player. The first complaint is you can’t pop out the video and keep it up while you browse to other pages. We’re going to fix that and add that feature ASAP and we’re working on it even now. A number of you people are complaining about the flashing red dot in the upper left-hand corner of the screen that says ‘live.’ You’re saying in the e-mails that you know it’s live and you don’t need to know, you don’t need to be told, it’s live, but I kind of like the flashing red dot. So it’s going to be up to me as to whether or not we remove it and I kind of like looking at it. I can see where it’s distracting but it kind of matches my shirt today. So I’ll think about that one.

RUSH: The pro-red dot crowd now weighing in on the Rush Media Player saying, ‘Don’t get rid of the red dot. If people are watching the red dot they’re not smart enough to focus on Rush anyway, so it’s not worth your time.’ By the way, if we do get rid of the red dot on the Rush Media Player we’re not going to be able to do it today, we’ll have to do it after we shut down and do it for Monday.
