Architects of Financial Collapse Bask in Washington Applause

by Rush Limbaugh - Jul 21,2010

RUSH: Big signing today, financial reform signing. It’s a new era of responsibility. You know, nothing epitomizes the Orwellian world of — (interruption)

This is the point. If we had a press, if there were a media today it would be full of Journolistgate, it would be full of all the e-mails written by these journalists on this now torn down website, but we don’t have a press. We don’t have a media. There is no media. There is no journalism. There really is no education. All we have is a bunch of leftists who are disguised as teachers, professors, scholars, academics, reporters, anchors, judges, lawyers, senators, congressmen, representatives, none of it’s real. They’re incestuous, and there’s a revolving door from all these people to all their groups, and they are interchangeable. They go back and forth. You work for a congressman and then you go work for the media. You stop working for the media and you go back and work for a congressman. You become a spokesman for the vice president, whatever. It’s an incestuous bunch of people. It’s all leftists, but none of it is real. There is no media.

We’ll get to that here in just a second, but this signing ceremony today, nothing epitomizes the Orwellian world of Washington than the sight that just happened 20 minutes ago of everyone applauding Chris Dodd and Barney Frank before today’s financial reform signing. If we cannot affix blame when it is so blatant, when it is so flagrant, then there will never be any chance of real responsibility in government. Our leaders, quote, unquote, now know that they can get away with anything, literally. Here are the architects of the financial straits that we are in being awarded, being applauded, being allowed to write the reforms that they screwed up in the first place. Who’s gonna stop ’em? There is no media. There is no watchdog media. There’s no media period. So who’s going to stop these people?

We have witnessed a series of crimes over the last year and a half, a looting spree, the total now, $3.7 trillion in bailouts. We have witnessed a looting spree that dwarfs anything in the history of the world. Many of the top people who helped pull it off are applauded like heroes by the people who enabled them to engage in the criminal behavior and get away with it in the first place. It’s stunning to watch this because you say, ‘Well, where’s the accountability?’ There is no accountability. These people are not going to hold themselves accountable. They don’t think they’re doing anything wrong. There is no watchdog media speaking truth to power or whatever the phrase is. The only people noticing here are the American people. ‘A year after President Barack Obama’s political Honeymoon ended, his Job Approval Rating has dropped to a negative 44 – 48 percent, his worst net score ever, and American voters say by a narrow 39 – 36 percent margin that they would vote for an unnamed Republican rather than President Obama.’

The American people, by 39 to 36, say they would vote for an unnamed Republican running against Obama in 2012, this according to the Quinnipiac University poll that was released today.
