RUSH: The economy is so bad that President Obama’s out there in Atlanta trying to get people to focus on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. That’s how bad things are in the economy. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has offered to debate Obama about whatever, about anything. Kill the music. (staff singing happy anniversary) Twenty-two years, the EIB Network, 22 years old today, and the staff in violation of every instruction here, brings in a cake celebrating the 22nd anniversary. Blow it out. There you go. Thank you all very much. You may cut the cake and enjoy it amongst yourselves. (laughing) The New York staff says, ‘Come up here. We won’t do anything.’ Yeah, leave me alone on my birthday, too.

Anyway, Ahmadinejad says he wants to debate Obama. Don’t know about what. We assume it’s Iran’s rush to nuke up. Charles Rangel is telling everybody not to rush to justice, even though the investigation’s gone on for two years. Obama is in Atlanta, Disabled American Veterans, and he’s trying to get everybody to focus on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Now, let me tell you something. His buds on the left, we were talking the other day about why the left is so unhappy, why they’re so miserable and so angry. We’ve dissected this in every which way you can imagine, but this is not going to make ’em happy. These people want out of every war we’re in.

They thought Obama was going to get us out and we were going to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Not only were we going to get out, we were going to lose, we were gonna get humiliated in Iraq, humiliated in Afghanistan, that’s what Obama’s supporters want and now he’s out there touting his successes. This is not what Obama’s base wants to hear. Stories throughout the media today: Obama is not going to be campaigning for Democrats. He admits he’ll be a hurt and a drag. Other Democrats don’t want him anywhere near their reelection efforts. It’s an amazing way to kick off a week.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I mentioned in the program open today that Obama is trying to distract people from the economy. The economy is so bad, he’s out there today in Atlanta, the 89th annual Disabled American Veterans convention and he’s talking up the war in Afghanistan, talking up the war in Iraq. Listen to this.

OBAMA: Our nation has had vigorous debates about the Iraq war. There are patriots who supported going to war and patriots who opposed it but there has never been any daylight between us when it comes to supporting the more than one million Americans in uniform who have served in Iraq, far more than any conflict since Vietnam.

RUSH: Really? There’s never been any daylight between us when it comes to supporting the more than one million Americans in uniform in Iraq? Why, the hell you say, Barack. The hell you say. You and your party attempted to undermine those million uniformed personnel day in and day out for four years. Harry Reid: ‘This war is lost.’ Biden: ‘The surge won’t work. These guys are crazy.’ Here’s Obama himself from January 14th, 2007, on Slay the Nation.

OBAMA 2007: We cannot impose a military solution on what has effectively become a civil war. And until we acknowledge that reality, we can send 15,000 more troops, 20,000 more troops, 30,000 more troops. I don’t know any expert on the region or any military officer that I’ve spoken to privately that believes that that is gonna make a substantial difference on the situation on the ground.

RUSH: We all wanted victory in Iraq, he said. We all wanted victory in Iraq. He’s trying to make people forget that he did everything he could to ensure defeat in Iraq. And now Joe Bite Me, the vice president, is out there saying Obama’s greatest accomplishment is Iraq. And now, ‘there’s never been any daylight between us when it comes to supporting the more than one million Americans,’ blah, blah, blah, blah, and then, ‘we can’t oppose the military solution, the surge isn’t gonna work, we can’t do that, nobody thinks it’s gonna work.’ History revisionism right before your very eyes. Here’s more, February 10th, 2007, in Chicago.

OBAMA 2007: It’s time to admit that no amount of American lives can resolve the political disagreement that lies in the heart of someone else’s civil war. That’s why I have a plan that will bring our combat troops home by March of 2008.

RUSH: It’s July of 2010. Combat troops still in Iraq; Club Gitmo is still open, thriving licensed merchandise business down there, you can see it at RushLimbaugh.com. And we’re ramping up troops in Afghanistan. But we couldn’t win either of these places. Well, we coulda gone to Afghanistan, Obama said, that’s why he owns Afghanistan. And then this morning, let’s go back to Atlanta, 89th annual Disabled American Veterans convention, Obama says he kept a promise.

OBAMA: As a candidate for president, I pledged to bring the war in Iraq to a responsible end. Shortly after taking office, I announced our new strategy for Iraq and for a transition to full Iraqi responsibility. And I made it clear that by August 31st, 2010, America’s combat mission in Iraq would end. And that is exactly what we are doing —

RUSH: Whoa!

OBAMA: — as promised —

RUSH: What?

OBAMA: — and on schedule.

RUSH: Wait a minute. We just heard you say you had a plan that will bring the combat troops home by March of 2008. Now it’s August 31st this year? What? He kept a promise? Getting out of Iraq on schedule? He voted against funding the Iraq war in 2007, by the way. So lying, history revisionism. And the great thing about this is that his fringe kook insaniacs on the left hate this kind of talk, they despise it. They’ve got the most liberal Marxist socialist president they’ve ever dreamed of having and we’re still in Afghanistan, we’re still in Iraq, and he’s cozying up to all kinds of corporate people. They don’t like this at all. They’re miserable. And they are unhappy.
