RUSH: They said that it was the Republicans that wanted to keep the Ground Zero mosque flap alive, and now — now — the media have got their poster boy for anti-Muslim backlash: This guy that tried to stab the New York cabbie. Now that that’s happened, we’re not going to hear the end of it. Guess who is going to keep the mosque flap alive, ladies and gentlemen?

(song starts)

RUSH: The media! They think they can kill the Republican Party with the mosque story. They’ve got it wrong. They have their new Oklahoma City bombing as far as they are concerned.

<*AUDIO*> (‘Take It Back’ parody song)

RUSH: That is white, Christian comedian Paul Shanklin. Barack Obama and the verbal portrayal there on Take It Back, a parody of the Rolling Stones’ Paint It Black. The guy that stabbed the Muslim cabdriver, you know, as I said the media was all excited, it was the Republicans keeping the mosque issue alive and now the media can’t let go of it, they think they’ve got their new Oklahoma City here. Now, it’s interesting to know, this guy that stabbed the cabdriver in New York was a volunteer for a group that seeks outreach with the Muslim community and that is for the mosque! So the guy that stabbed the cabbie works for a group that’s for the construction of the mosque near Ground Zero. And they’re blaming everybody here. They’re running around and blaming Fox News, the Republican Party, and of course me for the stabbing of the cabdriver in New York when I, ladies and gentlemen, wasn’t even there.

RUSH: Let’s go back to the audio sound bites. Chris Matthews won’t leave it alone. I am trying to — in a subliminal way — call Obama a Muslim, which I never have. All I’ve ever done is quote Moammar Khadafy when he said Obama was a Muslim. And these guys in the media are just beside themselves. They don’t understand why 20 to 25% of the American people think Obama is a Muslim and a bunch of them, a decreasing number think he’s a Christian. I’ve been trying to help them understand. I’ve been telling Matthews and anybody who will listen, unlike you, we just do not blanketly believe everything Obama tells us or that you tell us. Common sense gets in the way of mass belief.

Okay, so Obama tells us he’s a Christian but we don’t see any sign of it. The latest thing that Matthews has misunderstood and is over the top on is — and I knew this is going to happen, it was the Media Tweak of the Day. I said, ‘How in the world can the United States be considered Islamophobic when we elected a man whose name is Barack Hussein Obama?’ Now, Matthews said, (imitating Matthews) ‘See, there he goes again, he’s a smart guy, he’s trying to tell everybody he’s a Muslim.’ No. I did not say, how can a country that elects a guy, Barack Hussein Obama, be considered Islamophobic? What I said was, ‘How can America be considered Islamophobic when it elects a man with the name of Barack Hussein Obama?’

RUSH: Can we all accept the fact that the name Barack Hussein Obama has links to particular cultures? Barack Hussein Obama, those are Muslim names. Here’s a guy with a Muslim name, and he was elected president. Therefore how in the world can this country be said to be Islamophobic, which is the latest attempt by the left to once again impugn the entire population of this country? So instead of understanding what I said, Matthews is out there trying to say I’m subliminally trying to convince people that Obama is a Muslim. We had George Pataki on, and Pataki cleaned up with Matthews. Here’s the first of a couple of sound bites from last night’s Hardboiled.

MATTHEWS: Governor, it just seems to me that the people on the right of the spectrum, right across the right, center right all the way over really don’t like Muslims. Take a look at the — here’s Rush Limbaugh today. Here’s what he said today about the — our election of — well, he refers to President Obama basically as a Muslim here again, here he is.

RUSH ARCHIVE: My question, Mr. Matthews and Mr. Fineman, a question for you: How can America be Islamophobic? We elected Obama, didn’t we? If this is a nation that is Islamophobic, how do we elect a man whose name is Barack Hussein Obama?

RUSH: Now, that question to me is artfully posed. You know, I say what I mean. I mean what I say, and I love hearing myself say it. It’s just like George Brett once told me he loved hitting home runs. Well, I can understand that. I love being right. I love the sound of me being right just like he loved the sound of a home run off the bat. So, we elected Obama, didn’t we? If this is a nation that is Islamophobic how did we elect a man whose name is Barack Hussein Obama? I didn’t say, ‘How did we elect a guy who’s a Muslim?’ I didn’t say that. I said, ‘Whose name is Barack Hussein Obama.’ The exchange with George Pataki continued.

MATTHEWS: Governor, this is why I think 25 or some 30% of the people think that Barack Obama is Muslim. This trash-talking by Rush Limbaugh, the voice of the American right here who speaks for so many Republicans, assuming that he’s a Muslim because we voted for him, that proves we’re not anti-Muslim. What do you think of guys that keep putting out lies like that?

PATAKI: Well, I think it’s clear that Rush and I both understand that Barack Obama is a Christian. He has expressed his Christianity. He has shown that he goes to church although I have doubts about his choice of the right church when he was with Reverend Wright for so many years in Chicago.

RUSH: And Matthews says that Muslim students are gonna hear me and decide not to go to Michigan State.

MATTHEWS: A national poll that says most Republicans don’t like Islam, period. I just quoted Rush Limbaugh from today’s broadcast where he’s making it sound like we’ve elected a guy who’s Islamic and therefore we’re not anti-Islamic, playing that old game again, that canard that he’s really not a Christian. I would think if I were a guy sitting in a Cairo cafe right now I’d be thinking, ‘You know, I don’t really want to go to Michigan State and study engineering because those people don’t like me.’

RUSH: How can he get that out of it? Chris, why in the world are you thinking about a guy sitting at a cafe in Cairo? The guy sitting at a cafe in Cairo is trying to figure out how to get out alive. He’s not trying to think about how to get into Michigan State.

RUSH: Now, let’s go a little bit further on this Islamophobia the United States: ‘How in the world could we be considered Islamophobic if we elect a guy whose name is (Dadelut! Dadelut! Dadelut!) Barack Hussein Obama. Do you know ‘Baraq’ — spelled with a Q on the end, ‘Baraq’ — was the name of the winged horse-like creature that took Mohammed to paradise in the famous night journey. ‘Baraq’ was the name of Mohammed’s horse, spelled with a Q. ‘Baraq,’ spelled with a Q, can also mean ‘Allah’s blessing.’ ‘Hussein’ was the name of Mohammed’s grandson, who was one of Mohammed’s fiercest warriors. But the question is: What’s wrong with being a Muslim? It’s not like the Muslim world’s declared war on the rest of us. What’s wrong? In fact, speaking of Matthews worrying about a guy in Cairo listening to the EIB Network: How can that be? Then it would make perfect sense. Yeah, a guy in Cairo listening to EIB Network and saying, ‘Yeah, you know what? After hearing this, I don’t want to go to Michigan State and get my engineering degree.’ Here’s Mayor Bloomberg, who quickly is becoming one of these guys that you put a bag of manure somewhere in front of him he’s bound to step in it.

BLOOMBERG: Islam did not attack the World Trade Center. Al-Qaeda did. To implicate all of Islam for the actions of a few who twisted a great religion is unfair and un-American. Today, we are not at war with Islam. We are at war with Al-Qaeda and other extremists who hate freedom. Let me declare that we in New York are Jews and Christians and Muslims, and we always have been — and above all of that we are Americans, each with an equal right to worship and pray where we choose. There is nowhere in the five boroughs that is off limit to any religion.

RUSH: Hmm. I wonder if we should take that literally: ‘[A]nd above all of that, we are Americans, each with an equal right to worship and pray where we choose.’ What’d happen if a Jewish guy wants to go into a mosque and pray? Do you think he has the right just because he’s an American? ‘Oh, come on, Rush! You know what he means.’ By the way, the Japanese did not bomb Pearl Harbor. Extreme militarists under the command of the emperor did, but the Japanese didn’t attack Pearl Harbor! Everybody knows that. And the Americans did not attack Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Americans didn’t do that. Bombs did, bombs that happened to fall out of airplanes flying over. But the Americans didn’t attack. (pause) What is this? This guy is just hell-bent on getting this mosque built. Now, who is Mayor Bloomberg? Let’s go back, May 3rd, on the CBS Evening News the anchorette infobabe Katie Couric interviewed Mayor Bloomberg. This is about the — the Times Square bomber.

BLOOMBERG: If I had to guess 25 cents? This would be exactly that. Somebody —

COURIC: A homegrown…

BLOOMBERG: Homegroooown. Maybe a mentally deranged person or somebody with a political agenda, that doesn’t like the health care bill or something. It could be anything!

RUSH: Yeah, could be anything. It could not be a militant Islamist; it could not be a terrorist. No, no, no. The guy that wanted to blow up Times Square had to be a tea partier. It had to be somebody didn’t like Obama’s health care plan. That was the gut instinct of Bloomberg. I’m telling you: These people hate us more than they hate any foreign enemy. The American left, the Democrat Party, leftists, they hate conservatives more than they hate anybody else. We are a bigger threat to them than people who would actually kill them.

RUSH: The Ground Zero Hamasque developer, the Imam Sahib Skyhook Rauf says that the Hamasque could accommodate 1,000 worshipers. One thousand worshipers. (interruption) How many pilots did you say? (laughing) Snerdley, why do you… This is why these people do not have IFBs or microphones so that you can hear them. I wasn’t even thinking of how many pilots.

RUSH: Chuck in Long Beach, New York, great to have you on the program, sir.

CALLER: Hi, Rush. How you doing? Thanks so much for taking my call.

RUSH: You bet.

CALLER: You know, I think that Mayor Bloomberg and the rest of America needs to be reminded that in light of how questionable this imam is, that the first World Trade Center bombing was planned at a mosque on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn, the Al-Farooq mosque and refugee center.

RUSH: Are you sure it was a mosque in Brooklyn or New Jersey?

CALLER: No, the one was in Brooklyn, according to Andrew McCarthy’s book, Willful Blindness, but they were training terrorists throughout mosques in New Jersey.

RUSH: Well, no question about it. Look, this is one of these things where if you utter the truth you’re committing a gaffe, political correctness. Some mosques are recruiting centers. I mean there’s no question about it. These guys, the first World Trade Center guys, they actually returned the rental car, one of the vans. That’s how they ended up getting caught. The big lesson of the 1993 bombings is that nobody thought to think, ‘Well, they may come back again.’ We thought we’d foiled them and that was it. In ’93 they just learned that their attempted way to explode the thing in the underground garage wasn’t going to bring down the tower which was their objective, so they came back and did it a different way.

CALLER: Correct, but we still haven’t learned that lesson. You know, we have a man who’s obviously questionable —

RUSH: No, no. A lot of us have — no, no —

CALLER: — we have apparently no right on what he’s doing.

RUSH: A lot of us have. Some don’t want to. Some don’t want to learn. You know, liberals, I don’t care whether they call themselves independents and run on a Republican ticket or what have you, liberals are the same. They’re scared to death of our enemies, except of us. They’re scared to death. They will appease, they will do anything, ‘Don’t blame us! Don’t hurt us! We’re not your problem. Limbaugh is your problem. Go after Limbaugh. We’re not your problem.’ They’ll do anything, ’cause they’re a bunch of cowards, and they’ll also do anything to make themselves feel like they are better people, that they don’t suffer from prejudice and bigotry. And so they will deny what’s five feet in front of them in order to make themselves feel superior to other people.
