The Sad Story of Monica Lewinsky

RUSH: From the UK Daily Mail: Monica Lewinsky: ‘I’m still in love with Bill.’ Friends say she’s never got married or had kids because she hasn’t gotten over Clinton. ‘The scandal almost destroyed his career and left his presidency permanently tainted. But 15 years on, Bill Clinton’s former intern Monica Lewinsky has not got married or had children because she is reportedly still in love with him and ‘always will be’. Miss Lewinsky, 37, has run a successful business, hosted a reality television show and moved overseas — but has never found love, according to friends.’

This is not the Enquirer. This is the UK Daily Mail. ”Monica still hasn’t got over Bill and would take him back in a second,’ a friend said. ‘She told me, ‘There will never be another man in my life that could make me as happy as he did.’ Monica still carries a torch for him. She’s dated some guys, off and on, since the whole White House mess. But she’s never been able to get Bill out of her heart.” She was 22 in 1995. ‘When Clinton’s memoir My Life came out in 2004, Miss Lewinsky spoke of her upset at its contents to the Daily Mail, saying rather than being a physical fling, it was a mutual relationship. ‘He could have made it right with the book, but he hasn’t.” Now, some of you might be saying, ‘What’s so sad about this?’ Folks, you have a 22-year-old intern who was dragged in carrying a pizza box. We know what happened in there. President of the United States, and he’s celebrated, folks, as God’s gift to women. Still to this day, the stories are about Bill Clinton, rock star. The stories to this day in the media, whenever Clinton goes somewhere, the Clinton Global Initiative or wherever, it’s always about how the women can’t tear themselves away from him, big stud.

Well, there’s wreckage in the wake here, the life of a woman. I don’t care what you think of Monica Lewinsky, but apparently she’s still not right after all of this, which happens to everybody, I understand that. But here you have a Democrat president and his big allies, the National Association of Gals, the NOW gang, the NAGs, did everything they could to portray this woman as a slut and Paula Jones as well. I don’t know, to just go out and destroy somebody’s life and become an even bigger stud. Using the power of your office to titillate and tease, lead on, who knows what this woman thinks she was promised. (interruption) I know, it does blow, Snerdley. It’s a sad thing. And look, I know it happens to everybody. There’s nobody who lives that doesn’t go through heartbreak, but in this case the cad is an even bigger hero ’cause he got away with it as far as the media’s concerned and of course other political commentators.

I don’t have any grief for Monica Lewinsky. I just think this is the kind of thing that back in the day, as they always say, when there was a little bit of a more honorable code of honor, something like this would not make you a bigger star. There would be a price to pay for this, at least with the chink, the loss, whatever, in your reputation. It’s just the exact opposite. (imitating Clinton) ‘Hey, hey, Limbaugh, let me tell you something. I understand what you’re trying to say out there, pal, but you think she’s the only one? Ha-ha-ha. You ought to try living with me for a week. My life is littered with Lewinskys, they’re everywhere out there. I can’t help it. I can’t help it. I just go places and they latch onto me. What am I supposed to do? Half the time I don’t do anything. They’re throwing their bras at me. They’re throwing their underwear at me. They say they’ll give me a Lewinsky if I don’t do anything on abortion. What am I supposed to do? Hell, half my buddies get the rest of them. I can’t help what they say about me. You better drop it. You’re just jealous, Limbaugh. That’s all this is. I know it. I know it.’

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: (imitating Clinton) ‘And, by the way, one more thing, Limbaugh, you know what, you can go on and on and on about all you want, you can Monica Lewinsky this and you can talk about Kathleen Willey, but I’m gonna tell you what, just remember one name. Mary Jo Kopechne. All of mine are still breathing, Limbaugh, they’re still alive, they still got their chance. You never bring that up. Not a single time do you ever talk about that, I just want everybody to know, keep it all in perspective.’
