Rush’s Morning Update: Let There Be Light

by Rush Limbaugh - Mar 29,2011

As you know, liberal Democrats have targeted for extinction one of the greatest inventions in history. Unless there’s a policy reversal, next year the 100-watt incandescent light bulb will be banned. Two years after that, 75-, 60-, and 40-watt incandescent bulbs will go away.

But not everyone is willing to let the bulbs go quietly. South Carolina lawmakers are debating the Incandescent Light Bulb Freedom Act, which would allow incandescent bulbs to be manufactured in the state despite federal law. The bulbs would be stamped “Made in South Carolina,” and sold only in South Carolina. Under that scenario, proponents argue, the federal government has no constitutional authority to intervene, because the Commerce Clause addresses goods that cross state lines.

So far, only one company in South Carolina makes these bulbs but the hope is other companies would open shop if the law passes. Environmentalist wackos have another view. Says Kit Kennedy, energy counsel for the Natural Resources Defense Council: “Most states, whether they’re red states or blue states, are interested in promoting energy efficiency. We hope that South Carolina ‘sees the light,’ as it were.”

Most Americans resent — deeply resent — their liberties and choices being infringed upon because a ragtag coalition of wackos and repressive politicians buy into the global warming hoax. You people are the ones in the dark — which would be fine, if only you didn’t demand the rest of us join you!

Let there be incandescent light and freedom. That’s the American way.
