RUSH: Well… ‘Whites are now in the minority in nearly one in 10 U.S. counties. And that increased diversity, fueled by immigration and higher birth rates among blacks and Hispanics, is straining race relations and sparking a backlash against immigrants in many communities. ‘There’s some culture shock,’ said Mark Mather of the Population Reference Bureau, a Washington-based research agency. ‘But I think there is a momentum building, and it is going to continue.’ As of 2006, non-Hispanic whites made up less than half the population in 303 of the nation’s 3,141 counties, according to figures the Census Bureau is releasing Thursday. Non-Hispanic whites were a minority in 262 counties in 2000, up from 183 in 1990… The biggest changes in were in Orleans Parish, La., home to New Orleans. The share of non-Hispanic whites in Orleans Parish grew from 27 percent in 2005 to 34 percent in 2006, while the share of blacks dropped from about 68 percent to 59 percent.’ I thought more of them left than that. ‘Many of the nation’s biggest counties have long had large minority populations. But that diversity is now spreading to the suburbs and beyond, causing resentment in some areas.’

Now, wait a second! I thought that was not supposed to happen. I thought ‘diversity is what made America great.’ I thought that diversity is what we are all supposed to strive for. Diversity is the defining characteristic of American. That is what libs are telling us. So how can this be? We are diversifying all to hell, and it is causing resentment? Actually, it is. We had a survey on it. We had research on this about a month ago. I remember the story. Koko, find it in the archives of the website before the end of the program, because we did a story on this. It was a liberal at Harvard or Yale or something who had done a research project on ‘diversity’ and he thought it showed so bad, that he wasn’t going to release it because it was an election year and he thought it would hurt Democrats and hurt liberals to release this. He was going to try to massage his analysis of his research. We know that diversity is causing these problems. The liberals — this is the dirty little secret — this is exactly what they want to happen! They want everybody roiled against each other. They like it when there is racial strife because it gives the Jacksons and Sharptons a reason to exist and keep the black vote up. They love divisions between men and women, the feminist and all of this, because it keeps people preoccupied at war with one another. They love creating this kind of crisis. They don’t want tranquility. They don’t want calm seas. They love there being giant waves out there, throwing everybody all over the place. If you doubt me, go back and explain to me why they were so hell-bent on having amnesty for 12-20 million illegals. The Democrats are the party of minorities, and keeping minorities poor and even continuing to call them ‘minorities’ when they are no longer minorities. A minority = victim. Victim = special treatment by the government. Liberals run the government. They are in charge of what these people have and don’t have. Keep them just on the bare edges of existence. It’s hideous! This is exactly what they’ve wanted to happen all this time. This guy does his research, scholarly research expecting to show how diversity is creating love and devotion, and new peoples orienting themselves around strange cultures and coming together in one giant Kumbaya — and he found just the opposite, and didn’t want to release it.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Alright, here’s the story. I knew I was right about this. It is a John Leo column from June 27. We talked about it on this program on June 28: ‘Harvard political scientist Robert Putnam, author of Bowling Alone, is very nervous about releasing his new research, and understandably so. His five-year study shows that immigration and ethnic diversity have a devastating short- and medium-term influence on the social capital, fabric of associations, trust, and neighborliness that create and sustain communities. He fears that his work on the surprisingly negative effects of diversity will become part of the immigration debate, even though he finds that in the long run, people do forge new communities and new ties. Putnam’s study reveals that immigration and diversity not only reduce social capital between ethnic groups, but also within the groups themselves. Trust, even for members of one’s own race, is lower, altruism and community cooperation rarer, friendships fewer. The problem isn’t ethnic conflict or troubled racial relations, but withdrawal and isolation. Putnam writes: ‘In colloquial language, people living in ethnically diverse settings appear to ‘hunker down’ — that is, to pull in like a turtle.” So, they do the story here, whites are now the minority in nearly 1 in 10 U.S. counties and talk about how the societies are roiled, where this is happening. Yeah, it is true, but it is not because of racism or anything like that. It’s just people aren’t choosing it! You know, it’s like anything else to do with liberalism. They force all of the stuff on us because we don’t know what’s best for ourselves. ‘So we got to go do this. We got to have this done! We need taxes raised.’ There you have it.
