Rush’s Morning Update: Life’s Lottery

by Rush Limbaugh - Jul 20,2011

Back in the Clinton era, Democrats decided that you weren’t “contributing enough” – that is, you weren’t paying enough taxes. So they proposed massive tax hikes for those making above $200,000.

They sold this bill of goods under the theory that upper-middle-class people were “the evil rich,” and had to be punished. I’ll never forget Democrat House Leader Dick Gephardt saying, “Those who have prospered and profited from life’s lottery have a moral obligation to share their good fortune.”

So – meet Leroy Fick of Bay County, Michigan. About a year ago, Leroy Fick won $2 million on the Michigan lottery show, “Make Me Rich!” According to WNEM-TV in Saginaw, people have seen Mr. Fick driving a new Audi convertible. Others have seen Leroy Fick as he swipes his government-issued electronic card – to cash in food stamps.

But bless his heart, Leroy Fick doesn’t give a … Fick … what you think about him. First, he complains that over half of his two-million-dollar win was paid in taxes. Second, he says the Department of Human Services gave him permission to continue using food stamps. Fick told the TV station: “If you’re going to try to make me feel bad, you aren’t going to do it.”

And why try! Mr. Fick won Michigan’s lottery – not “life’s lottery.” He’s still entitled to your tax dollars, his food stamps, his pride – and his Audi.

One question. If you had to pick … would you guess Mr. Fick to be a liberal, or a conservative? Just asking!
