RUSH: Let’s go to Tony in Seattle. Tony, it says here you think I’m taking Hoffa out of context. Hello, testing one, two, three. Tony, you there? Guess not. Moment of truth comes, Tony bags it. Is he there or is he not there? He’s not there. I don’t know what I took out of context. Would you explain to me again, Mr. Snerdley, what he said that I took out of context about Hoffa and the S.O.B. comment? He claims I edited the sound bite to leave out the part about jobs, jobs, jobs. All right, let’s see here. Let me go back and grab the transcript of the sound bite as we have it. (audio dropout) Tony, you back in Seattle?

CALLER: I am, yes. Thanks, Rush.

RUSH: Yeah, okay, what did I take out of context here?

CALLER: Well, those two quotes I’ve heard, I heard the full quote on a news program earlier, and in essence he said that about you’ve got an army here ready to go to battle,
blah, blah, blah then he went on to say, “and we are ready to focus on the one thing that makes a difference, and that’s jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs,” he said that several times, they clapped, they cheered, then he went on to say and we are ready to go to battle and take these sons-of-bitches out. But the two quotes were separated by quite a bit in —

RUSH: So the jobs are the sons-of-bitches he was talking about?

CALLER: No, he was talking about the army is ready to go to battle for jobs.

RUSH: Okay, the army is the union people.

CALLER: Right.

RUSH: And they’re gonna go to battle for jobs.

CALLER: Right, and they’re gonna take the sons-of-bitches out.

CALLER: Right.

RUSH: Okay. I don’t know what changes. I’m still the son-of-a-bitch. The Tea Party is still the son-of-a-bitch whether it’s jobs he’s talking about or whatever.

CALLER: Right, but I guess —

RUSH: Where are you getting this? Are you getting this from Media Matters or something? Are you getting this from some left wing website that’s destined to prove that Hoffa didn’t say what he said?

CALLER: No, that wasn’t the point at all, as far as I heard. Basically, it was on a local news program here. I won’t name the call letters because it’s a different station than I listen to you, but they just played it during their newscast, and I guess, quite frankly, I thought, okay, Larry O’Donnell, Sergeant Schultz, Chris Matthews, they do that kind of thing. The point is still the same even in the full context, but I just thought, oh, come on, I trust you of all people.

RUSH: What’s the point, if it’s still the same? We have a time frame element here. I’ve given Cookie a time element of 60 seconds on sound bites so as to not lose the audience’s attention. People are not tuning into this show to listen to Jimmy Hoffa. So we cut this thing down to 33 seconds, she cuts it down. She takes nothing out of context. She leaves it in context on purpose. All that was edited out was “everybody here’s gotta vote,” and “jobs, jobs, jobs.” But the fact is that Jimmy Hoffa said that we have got to take the S.O.B.s out. Now, he’s not talking about jobs, he’s talking about Republicans, he’s talking about the Tea Party. There’s nothing out of context here. We don’t have to take these people out of context anyway. It’s not our intention.

All right, look, I appreciate it. It turns out here Tony is concerned about our credibility. He’s not a Jimmy Hoffa supporter. But, you know, there was nothing edited about “jobs, jobs, jobs.” Anyway, you can see, by evidence of this that there is nervousness out there about this. Now, you might be interested in knowing the Detroit Free Press did not even mention Hoffa’s comments in its coverage of the event. I’m told so, anyway. The Detroit Free Press didn’t even mention Hoffa’s comments. John King, CNN, didn’t even ask Hoffa about his comments. When Debbie “Blabbermouth” Schultz on Fox was asked about the comment, the White House has been asked about the comments, and they refuse to comment. Nobody is saying Hoffa was taken out of context with this.

When James Hoffa talks about taking the S.O.B.s out, everybody knows what he means, pure and simple. TheHill.com didn’t even mention Biden’s barbarian at the gates comments in their report on his speech. I still say, ladies and gentlemen, that the irony of all of this is that here’s Obama praising Hoffa after Hoffa’s remarks, Labor Day ceremony in Detroit, a city that epitomizes the disaster brought about by the alliance of labor unions and a Democrat-led government, a city that’s being bulldozed, a city that’s got something like 16% unemployment, they’re tearing the city down, leaving it for farmland, and of all the places Obama could go on Labor Day, he goes to Detroit to celebrate the triumph of organized labor.

There is no place you can go to celebrate the triumph of organized labor. In fact, organized labor today, to increase its membership, has to cheat. It has to schedule elections that nobody knows are happening. It has to perform these elections in ways that are intimidating to potential union members. Look, all of this is quite disturbing to people on the left, make no mistake about it, and that’s why all these attempts are being made that claim that Hoffa didn’t say what he said or that people are taking it out of context.

RUSH: Fremont, Ohio. This is Rick. I’m glad you called, sir. Great to have you on the program.

CALLER: Thank you, Rush, this is great. This is Rick from Fremont. I am the president of a Tea Party named SQUIRREL, and SQUIRREL stands for Society of Conservatives United for Independence, Representative Republic, Equality and Liberty, and our motto is to crack some nuts, gather up the ACORNs and bury ’em, Rush. We’re ready. Hey, we’re ready to take on —

RUSH: Sounds like you’re ready for Jimmy Hoffa and the sons-of-bitches.

CALLER: Well, we’re ready to take on the S.O.B.s, and S.O.B. stands for sons of Beelzebub.

RUSH: Sons of Beelzebub. Yeah, you know, what they’re claiming here is that Hoffa was talking about taking out officeholders, you know, take ’em out, vote, vote, vote, beat ’em at the ballot box and that sort of thing. The only problem with that is he was talking about the Tea Party, and the Tea Party doesn’t really have any officeholders.

CALLER: No, we have nothing to lose, Rush, we have nothing to lose. The Tea Party is strong and growing. We’re not afraid because we have nothing to lose. Socialism is coming down our throats and we are ready to battle.

RUSH: Well, you know, you have a point when you say you’ve got nothing to lose. I kind of like that way of looking at it. If somebody said, “Oh, yeah, you do have something to lose,” what would it be?

CALLER: Well, I mean what can they do, kill us? You know, I mean that’s what Obama wants to do through Saul Alinsky’s book Rules for Radicals, is to put fear, create this idea that the unions are gonna be this civil police force, and they’re trying to put fear out there through words.

RUSH: Well, I’ll just tell you this. If you want to put the S.O.B. comment in context, let me do it for you. Exactly the way the left tried to do it to Sarah Palin and me. Gabby Giffords was an officeholder, and somebody took her out. And here you’ve got Jimmy Hoffa talking about taking the sons-of-bitches out. Now, I don’t care whether you people on the left want to start talking about what he meant by voting at the ballot box or whatever. He’s a union honcho, and we know what they mean when they say what they say. You can try this context stuff all you want, but it ain’t gonna fly with us.

RUSH: You know, there’s a little irony, folks, in James Hoffa being such a brownshirt for the Democrats when it was they, especially Bobby Kennedy, that spent years trying to put his dad behind bars, and they eventually succeeded, and here James Hoffa in bed with the party that targeted his dad.

Welcome back, Rush Limbaugh, documented to be almost always right 99.6% of the time here on the EIB Network. Our telephone number if you want to join us, 800-282-2882, and the e-mail address, ElRushbo@eibnet.com.

All right, some of the typical shameless, dishonest, left-wing blogs are accusing people of taking the James Hoffa S.O.B. sound bite off context. So here’s the whole thing. In fact, let’s play sound bite one first. Let’s play our edited version, that would be sound bite number one that runs 35 seconds.

HOFFA: We got to keep an eye on the battle that we face: The war on workers. And you see it everywhere, it is the Tea Party. And, you know, there is only one way to beat and
win that war. The one thing about working people is we like a good fight. And you know what? They’ve got a war. They got a war with us and there’s only going to be one winner. It’s going to be the workers of Michigan and America. We’re going to win that war. President Obama, this is your army. We are ready to march. Let’s take these son-of-a-bitches out (cheers) and give America back to America where we belong.

RUSH: Okay. Now, that’s our edited version for time. And you must understand that Cookie, who does the audio sound bites here, lives in daily fear of me ’cause I have put upon her a 60-second limit for all of these sound bites. And that’s simply a professional judgment made by me. So she tries to edit this stuff down to the essence, you know, brevity being the soul of wit and everything. Here’s the whole bite which takes 58 seconds, and you see if there’s any difference.

HOFFA: We gotta keep an eye on the battle that we face: The war on workers. And you see it everywhere, it is the Tea Party. And, you know, there’s only one way to beat and win that war. The one thing about working people is we like a good fight. And you know what? They got a war. They got a war with us, and there’s only gonna be one winner. It’s gonna be the workers of Michigan and America. We’re gonna win that war. President Obama, this is your army. We are ready to march. And, President Obama, we want one thing: jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs. That’s what we’re going to tell him. He gonna be — and when he sees what we’re doing here, he will be inspired. But he needs help, and, you know what? Everybody here’s gotta vote. If we go back and we keep the eye on the prize, let’s take these son-of-a-bitches out.

RUSH: Okay, so what’s different? What’s different? I submit there’s nothing different at all. Let me put it to you this way. Do you suppose the mobsters who took his dad out misunderstood and they were just supposed to vote him out? Do you think the mobsters that took James Hoffa’s father, Jimmy Hoffa out, misunderstood the orders “You take him out.”? All they were supposed to do was vote him out, instead they took him to Giants Stadium? Or wherever. Hell, I don’t know. (laughing) Anyway, there’s the whole sound bite. I don’t care how you define it, the language is the same and the intention is the same. Jimmy Hoffa, James Hoffa wants jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs. You’re talking to the wrong guy, Mr. Hoffa. This guy wouldn’t know how to create a job, well, not a private sector union job, this guy won’t know how to create a private sector union job if his life depended on it. It’s not what he’s interested in anyway.

RUSH: Sanford, Michigan. This is Randy. I’m glad you waited, sir. Welcome to the EIB Network. Great to have you here.

CALLER: Hey, thanks for taking my call, Rush.

RUSH: You bet, sir.

CALLER: Hey, I’d just like to make a comment on the unions and Democrats. As a former UAW, as a former Democrat, this name-calling is getting to be disgusting. I personally am sick of it. You know, we have laws in our schools now to stop the bullying.

RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: But yet we continuously allow the Democrat Party to go out and call Americans names.

RUSH: Excellent point.

CALLER: Disgustful, and uncalled for. My point is as a former Democrat and a former UAW person, I will never, ever for the rest of my life vote for another Democrat in this country.

RUSH: You know, it’s an excellent point that you’re making, the point of hypocrisy.

CALLER: Right.

RUSH: These are the people that are authoring all the anti-bully legislation. These are the people that are responsible for all the anti-bullying stuff in school, and who are they? What are they but a bunch of bullies themselves. Proudly so. They applaud themselves for their bullying-like tactics. Excellent point out there.

RUSH: Let’s go to the Detroit. This is Kathleen, great to have you on the program. I’m glad you waited. Welcome.

CALLER: Hi, Rush. It was definitely worth the wait.

RUSH: Thank you very much.

CALLER: I just wanted to let you know what our union leadership’s response was to Mr. Hoffa’s remarks yesterday here in Detroit.

RUSH: Yeah?

CALLER: I listen to your program on WJR here in Detroit —

RUSH: Thank you.

CALLER: — in the morning.

RUSH: Thank you.

CALLER: Yes. And in the morning Paul W. Smith is our morning host, and he was interviewing UAW President Bob King, and about halfway through the interview they were
talking about Mr. Hoffa’s remarks, and Mr. King’s response initially was that, oh, he was just merely expressing his frustration with the current labor situation, and when Paul pressed him further and said, “Come on, really? Taking the S.O.B.s out”? Mr. King laughed. I was stunned. He laughed, and then he was a little tongue-tied and fumbled a bit and said, “Well, I just can’t comment on the words that he chose, but Jimmy Hoffa is a really great guy —

RUSH: Kathleen, they love it when they tick us off. They love it when they think they’ve gotten under our skin. That’s what he didn’t want to betray.

RUSH: But they love it.

CALLER: It’s embarrassing. I mean I have a lot of friends and family who are union members, albeit reluctantly in some cases, but they should be embarrassed that their leadership didn’t come back out and somehow rebuke those words.

RUSH: Ah, it’s not gonna happen. In fact, Hoffa has refused to apologize. He told some leftist stooge site that he’d say the exact same words all over again.

CALLER: Well, it was embarrassing. He just chuckled at him like he was an incorrigible child, and that’s pretty embarrassing.

RUSH: It’s our culture today. This is our culture today. A lot of people don’t think this is over the top. It’s nothing. Besides, he was talking about Republicans. What’s wrong with that? They are a bunch of S.O.B.s. That’s what the left thinks. So don’t expect an apology. And that laughter, that’s the closest thing to the truth you were gonna get from the guy.
