Obama Consults Daughters on Gay Marriage

by Rush Limbaugh - May 10,2012

RUSH: Michael in Hawaii, the Big Island. Great to have you on the program, sir. Hi.

CALLER: Aloha dittos, Rush. Thanks for taking my call.

RUSH: Mahalo.

CALLER: Well, my comment here is that a few weeks ago Romney said that he spoke to his wife about women’s issues, and then the libs and the media said that Romney’s wife was not qualified to do so, since she’s never worked a day in her life.
RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: Well, now Obama said he spoke to his wife and daughters about gay marriage issues, as if they were qualified to do so? Well, they’ve never been gay a day in their lives. So where is that flip-flop?

RUSH: You know I can’t answer that. (laughing)

CALLER: (laughing)

RUSH: What kind of trap are you springing on me here today? Let’s grab audio sound bite 11, in case you didn’t hear. Hang on there. Don’t go away, Michael. Here is audio sound bite number 11. This is yesterday on ABC, broke into regular programming, a special report about Obama’s evolution being finished on gay marriage.

OBAMA: Malia and Sasha, they have friends whose parents are same-sex couples. There have been times where Michelle and I have been sitting around the dinner table and weÂ’re talking about their friends and their parents. And Malia and Sasha, it wouldnÂ’t dawn on them that somehow their friendsÂ’ parents would be treated differently. It doesn’t make sense to them. And, frankly, that’s the kind of thing that prompts a change of perspective.

RUSH: Even though he’d already made up his mind earlier in the interview. He’d already made up his mind on this. But Michael here has a great question. It really is a good question. Mitt Romney says that his wife informs him on economic circumstances American women are facing. And Hilary Rosen, (imitating Rosen) “What the hell, she’s never worked a day in her life. She wouldn’t have the slightest idea.” And of course the media tries to run with it until it backfires. Now, Obama basically, as Michael here just said, has cited his wife and his two daughters as qualified to advise his thinking on gay marriage. Now, the natural response is, “Come on, Michelle Obama has never been gay a day in her life or married to a women a day in her life, and certainly your daughters haven’t.” If things were equal.

Nobody said that. Nobody on the Republican side, ’cause we’re on the wrong side of history, so we wouldn’t have thought of that. But you see, Michael is exactly right. There is a double standard here. But Hilary Rosen didn’t get away with it. By the way, why is marriage called matrimony? Well, matrimony implies mater, M-a-t-e-r. Maternal. What does that mean? Woman. Means woman. Patri is father. As in patricide, kill your kids. But matrimony, ’cause you gotta have motherhood in there.
