Another Journalist Joins the Regime

by Rush Limbaugh - Sep 13,2013

RUSH: Did you hear the news that Richard Stengel is leaving TIME Magazine and going over to the Regime? I’ll tell you, folks, I’ve mentioned it I don’t know how many times. There’s an incestuous relationship that exists between the Washington press corps and any Democrat administration.

But I think the Obama administration has seen more members of the press corps leave the press corps and join the Regime than any previous Democrat regime in my lifetime, anyway. Richard Stengel was the managing editor of TIME Magazine, and he has left TIME Magazine to go over to the State Department, and it’s a ho-hummer. It’s not a big deal, and you question these people about it: “How in the world can you claim to be objective in the media when you decide to leave the media and go over to the Regime?

“What’s the difference?” There isn’t any difference.

Journalists are simply leftists disguised as reporters. They’re political activists disguised as reporters. That’s all they are, and this is just the latest example. “According to the Atlantic, Time managing editor Rick Stengel’s decision to join the [Regime] is just the latest example of a new trend among mainstream media journalists who are making it official by officially joining the [Regime],” rather than being a satellite member at a newspaper or magazine.

“Stengel, who is joining the State Department, is just one of 15 (or 19) who have given up a career in journalism to join Obama’s crusade to fundamentally transform America.” Not only that. It’s not just the number of reporters who have decided to make their work for Obama official rather than, as I say, in newspaper or magazine or even TV network. It’s who they are married to. Some of these Obama Regime people married to people in the media. You’d be stunned. The numbers is in three figures.

You could easily get to 100 if you count the number of reporters who’ve gone to work for the Regime, the number of people in the Regime who are married to reporters, the number of reporters married to people that work at places like Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac. So there’s no possibility of objectivity. It’s not even possible. That’s why they’re not even a pretense to it anymoreWe got a couple of sound bites from Stengel just to remind you who he is and things that said. He named Obama Person of the Year for TIME Magazine one year because Obama got the votes of low-information voters. That was the qualification. Obama was named TIME Magazine Person of the Year because he was able to reach out and get the votes of the ignorant.

RUSH: Okay. December 19th on the Today show, 2012, Savannah Guthrie and David Gregory talking to Richard Stengel, and she said, “Who is TIME’s Person of the Year, Richard?”

STENGEL: Our Person of the Yer for 2012 is … President Barack Obama.

GREGORY: Oh, wow!

STENGEL: He won reelection despite a higher unemployment rate than anybody’s had to face in 70 years. He’s the first Democrat to actually win two consecutive terms with over 50% of the vote. That’s something we haven’t seen since Franklin Delano Roosevelt. And he’s basically the beneficiary and the author of a kind of new America, a new demographic, a new cultural America that, ummm, he is now the symbol of.

RUSH: The ignorant, low-information voters. TIME Magazine. That’s Richard Stengel. He just left TIME and is heading over to work for John Kerry (who served in Vietnam, by the way) at the State Department. See, all of these people are Democrat activists. When they’re at TIME Magazine, they’re just Democrats activists disguised as journalists.

Then they get the itch, and they want to get closer to the center of the action. So they abandon the publication and the TV network, and they head on over to the Regime. Here’s this guy, and what did he say? “Two consecutive terms with over 50% of the vote, higher unemployment rate than anybody’s had to face in 70 years”? An unemployment rate he’s responsible for! But not in these people’s eyes. No way.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: This Richard Stengel, managing editor, TIME Magazine, said, “Yeah, we named Obama Person of the Year 2012 because he won reelection despite a higher unemployment rate than anybody had to face in 70 years.” Well, no thanks to you guys, right? He’s in charge of the unemployment rate. Two million people have left the workforce. There are 90 million Americans not working — 90 million Americans not working! The labor force participation rate is down.

People have given us looking for work. The job market has been destroyed. College graduates have nothing to do. There aren’t any careers to be had. Full-time jobs are being converted to part time. We’re gonna name this guy Person of the Year? Absolutely, if this is what you want to happen to America. He deserves to be our guy of the year because he got elected even though the unemployment rates was higher than anybody’s had to face in 70 years?

How about the unemployment rate that he is responsible for? He’s the first Democrat to win two consecutive terms, and he’s the beneficiary and the author of a new kind of America, a new demographic, a new cultural America that he is now the symbol of. Low-information voters is what he’s talking about. They were all excited at TIME Magazine that Obama came along and found a way to get the ignorant involved in politics. Obama came along and found a way to get the ignorant to vote Democrat.

Stengel was asked by Charlie Rose about Obama being Person of the Year, and Stengel said, “They like Obama because they sense something about him, that he’s not really a part of it.” The Limbaugh Theorem! Richard Stengel actually said to Charlie Rose, “Yeah, they like Obama because they sense something about him that he’s not really a part of it.” He’s not a part of what’s going on. He’s not to blame for what’s going on. He’s not responsible for it. He’s not a part of it.

They sense that.

I wonder why that is, Stengel!

Do you think you guys in the media might have something to do with that by not vetting the guy, by not holding him accountable? This is more Stengel with Charlie Rose: “The Obama campaign discovered that these people who say they’re not interested in politics, who don’t like the Republicans, who don’t like the Democrats, who don’t like Washington, you know what they do like? They like Obama, ’cause they sense something about him, that he’s not really a part of it,” meaning Washington.

So even that first debate which when all thought was a debacle, a lot of people thought, well, I like that, ’cause he’s not playing that game, he’s not say gotcha, he’s not say nasty things, that helped tip the balance for him. So the more Obama appeals to the ignorant, the better he is. Stengel was ecstatic in naming Obama Person of the Year. But this is the Limbaugh Theorem hit right on the head of the nail.

“Obama discovered these people who say they’re not interested in politics, don’t like the Republicans, don’t like the Democrats, don’t like Washington. You know what they do like? They like Obama ’cause they sense something about him that he’s not really part of it.” How can that be? He’s president for four years! How in the world could he not be part of it? Well, the constant campaign, never appearing to govern, not being held accountable by the media. It’s a brilliant strategery.

And somebody who’s a Democrat activist disguised as a journalist names him Person of the Year because he found a way to appeal to the ignorant. Back to the Today show on December 19th of 2012. David Gregory said to Stengel, “Well, what about some people who’ve pushed back on that this year, saying it was more about the lesser of two evils in the course of the campaign? A lot of the circumstances seem to be bigger than the president compared to when he was first chosen.”

STENGEL: Our story by Michael Scherer, our White House correspondent, really probes deeply into the “data folks” at the White House who really help make it happen. And one of the things they found out is there’s about 15% of voters who actually don’t care about politics. These are the people we didn’t know who are gonna show up at the polls who actually like Barack Obama, in the sense they feel like he’s outside of politics.

RUSH: There it is, folks. It’s the Limbaugh Theorem, expressed by Stengel in 2012. These people, they sense that Obama’s outside of politics. He’s not responsible for it. This guy, he just left TIME Magazine and is now over at the State Department working for John Kerry (who served in Vietnam).
