RUSH: This is David in Raleigh, North Carolina. Great to have you on the EIB Network. Hello.

CALLER: Rush, it’s a pleasure to speak with you.

RUSH: Thank you, sir.

CALLER: Last week you talked about the Let It Collapse Chorus, the Republicans who are saying let Obamacare go and fail and everyone will see how bad it is and blame the Democrats. Well, as you have pointed out they are thinking of this law incorrectly as though it is a statute that will just stand or fall on its own merits. This thing is more like a weed that was designed to morph and change and creep through our health care system and take it over. For example, over 700 times in the law you find the phrase “at the discretion of the secretary.” In other words, Secretary Sebelius can just change things if she doesn’t like the way things are going.

Once this weed is planted, it will find a way to stay alive.

RUSH: That’s right. It’s exactly right and a great description. It’s a weed, and Miracle Grow or whatever the hell you use on weeds isn’t gonna work on this. Roundup, is that what it is? Roundup’s the weed killer? Well, there is no weed killer for this. Well, there is, actually, defunding it. Anyway, that’s a good description of it. I think the Let It Collapse Chorus, it’d be great if that happened, but it requires a certain level of education among the population.

I don’t know. It’s not my nature to sit around and hope things will collapse, especially when that strategy hasn’t yet worked. I remember people back in 1992 saying, “Come on, Rush! Get out of the way and let Clinton win. Let Clinton win! Republicans suck anyway so let Clinton win.
Let people see how bad country gets when the Democrats run it.” Well, it didn’t work, ’cause Democrats continue to be elected after that. (interruption)

What are you laughing at in there? What the hell’s so funny? Weeds? I don’t want to go to Home Depot. They’re all thinking I have just stepped in it. See, because I don’t know what the weed killer is, that means I’m out of touch and not a real person, so they want to take me to Home Depot and show me what the weed killers are. Roundup is the weed killer? I’ve heard of Roundup. You know, it’s a serious question.

There are no weeds where I live. I’ve done away with ’em all. Whenever a weed pops up, it’s done away with. I don’t have to do it. Why do I not get credit for that? I’m expanding the economy. I’m hiring other people take care of my weeds, and yet I’m somehow to blame ’cause I don’t do it myself. But I do do it myself. I’m being productive in other ways while others are being paid to de-weed my place. Yeah, have you ever had a neighbor, one of these every spare moment he’s fixing up his house?

He’s painting the roof offer whatever? That guy’s replacing windows or he’s doing the roof or he’s got his pocket drill out doing something, and, you know, all the home improvement stuff. (interruption) Yeah, he’s a real man. All the other wives in the neighborhood say to their husbands, “Why don’t you do like Brad does?” Well, I’m sorry. I’d rather watch football while Zeke out there is doing the roof.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Here’s Gerald in Worcester, Mass. Great to have you on the program. Hi.

CALLER: Yes, Rush. I’m calling because I take issue with you. Yesterday you had said that the individual mandate for Obamacare was unconstitutional, and then you added, no matter what Justice Roberts said. And the point is, is that if you do disagree with the individual mandate, you and your friends have options to go through the courts to try to overturn it. That’s the American way. Not what’s going on with the silly games going on in the Congress. I think you’re choosing the wrong arena to — I know you don’t like Obamacare. But I think you and your friends are choosing the wrong arena, and that’s just not the American way.

RUSH: Well, what arena should me and my friends be choosing?

CALLER: The courts.

RUSH: The courts. Well, but the Supreme Court, which is the Supreme Court, and there’s nowhere to go after the Supreme Court, other than to try to take the case back there if you can find a new reason to, and you can’t simply to challenge their ruling.
CALLER: No, but then give Obamacare a chance and then you’ll have plenty of reason, you know, what you contend, to overturn it.

RUSH: You know, that’s like saying give the Soviet Union a chance. No way. I didn’t want to give the Soviet Union a chance. There are certain things I just know I don’t want to get a foothold, and solid, tried-and-true socialism, statism, is what this is, is one of those.
