RUSH: Lebanon, Ohio. This is Dave. Thank you, sir. Great to have you with us on the EIB Network.

CALLER: Rush, it’s a real pleasure to talk to you. I’ve been listening to you since the days the Magic Johnson stuff was going on. I heard you on the radio. So I’m self-employed. I’m 52 years old. I’ve had a wife pass away. I do a little ministry. I’m a builder, remodeler, and I have a master’s in music. I’m not the dumbest guy in the world, maybe not the sharpest, either, but I was amazed when all this Obamacare stuff was going on. I listened to you a lot, other people, I did some reading on it. It was just kind of funny to me, I couldn’t figure out what the heck Obamacare was. I have chosen not to carry insurance for various reasons, personal and spiritual and so forth, and that’s fine, I don’t ask anybody else to do it and that’s what I’ve chosen, so I thought —

RUSH: Let me interrupt you.

CALLER: Yes.

RUSH: As a self-made and acknowledged sharp knife in the drawer, do you now what Obamacare is?

CALLER: Yeah, I could not comprehend that much government control, I think is what it was. So as I was —

RUSH: Wait, wait, wait, hold it a minute.

CALLER: Okay.

RUSH: That statement needs clarification. You couldn’t imagine somebody trying for that much government control, or you couldn’t comprehend it working.

CALLER: Yeah, I could comprehend them going for it. I look back at the Judge Roberts thing, I still look at that and I go, “I would love to find out someday what really happened there.” There’s too many stops in the way. There’s too many things that people are gonna see, and something’s gotta reverse it. There’s no way this could happen, and so —

RUSH: Yet it did. It did, and it is. And as you and I speak, the Regime is saying everything’s fine, it’s now been fixed and it’s working —

CALLER: Yeah.

RUSH: — just fine. They are lying through their teeth about it.

CALLER: Yeah. That’s exactly it. I looked at it, I guess, I didn’t realize until it rolled out, the bronze, silver, gold, whatever, I thought, well, I have chosen not to go that route so it’s really not gonna impact me —

RUSH: I’m gonna have to ask you another serious question. I mean this one now. I’m not trying to be provocative. I’m not being critical. Do not misread the tone of my voice. I’m really serious about this.

CALLER: Yeah.

RUSH: You said you’ve been listening to me since the beginning.

CALLER: Yeah.

RUSH: I told you what this was about. If you listen here, I’m serious, you knew what an abomination, what an impossibility, you knew what this really was. So I need to learn, you’re a member of the audience, and yet even after I explained it, you were stunned at what you saw, which tells me you really didn’t believe what I was saying.

CALLER: No, no, no, no. I believed everything you were saying. What I’m saying is I couldn’t comprehend the fact of what exactly was Obamacare. In other words, once it rolled out, I go, “Oh, you have to go to a website, and you have to sign up for something.”

RUSH: But that’s just it, I told you what it was, it’s not about health care. It’s about —

CALLER: Yes.

RUSH: — taking over one-sixth of the economy and controlling everybody’s life. What you eat, what you drive, because everything you do has health care cost ramifications, which they now are in charge of. Everything you do is now subject to government control because they are the health care provider. That’s what this is about.

CALLER: Yes. And I agree with that a hundred percent. Rush, I’m self-employed. I try to live my life and I try to teach people around me and my kids, about what freedom means and the tremendous responsibility that goes along with it. In my business I’ve been up and down, and every time I’ve gotten down and felt like a failure I said, “Well, I can either sit here and feel sorry for myself or I can get up and take responsibility and move on.”

RUSH: What you need to know is, as a small businessman, the Democrat Party has succeeded in making a lot of people think that you’re rich, always rich, you never lose money.

CALLER: Right.

RUSH: You’ve got a stash of money that you don’t want to spend on your employees or in their health care. You want to keep it for yourself because you’re selfishly and greedy —

CALLER: Right.

RUSH: — and you are part of the golden goose that will never go away.

CALLER: Yeah. Oh, I see that a hundred percent. I guess maybe I’m not communicating as clearly, either. I would talk to very intelligent people and none of us really comprehended what Obamacare was going to look like. We knew what it was about. We knew it was about government control. We knew it was about socialism, communism, whatever you want to call it, whatever depth you go to there, but we couldn’t grasp the facts of it, what is it really going to look like —

RUSH: Well, that make sense. They hid them from you.

CALLER: Yes, the facts.

RUSH: That makes sense. They didn’t detail for you at all what you’re talking about. You wanted to know, okay, Obamacare hits, what are the steps?

CALLER: Yeah.

RUSH: That’s what you didn’t know.

CALLER: Yeah. And so now one of my reasons for calling is, okay, if I missed it there, what are the next five, 10 years do you think — because I just assumed it was gonna be overturned. I don’t think there’s any more chances for that, but what do you expect in the next five or 10 years? And I’ve heard you talk a lot about that, but specifically I’m thinking, what of people like us who don’t want to be dependent on the government, is there hope for us, any option for us in this —

RUSH: If I have enough money, yes. If you have enough money, yes. People with the means, ability, and the desire are gonna find ways around this, and doctors are gonna find a way to have patients that aren’t using it, that will pay ’em directly. There will be ways around it, but not for everybody. If it’s not repealed it’s gonna be like the British system. There are models that you can look at. It’s gonna be like Great Britain’s, gonna be like Canada’s. There’s a model for what it’s gonna be. It’s gonna be broke constantly. It isn’t gonna work, gonna be long lines. It’s gonna be an abject disaster.

CALLER: Yeah.

RUSH: Let me give you very quickly, let me run through some things here, put something in perspective for you. Three and a half years of World War II, starting with the Japanese bombing Pearl Harbor December ’41, ending in ’45, in that three and a half year period, this country built 22 aircraft carriers, eight battleships, 48 cruisers, 349 destroyers, 420 destroyer escorts, 203 submarines, 34 million tons of merchant ships, 100,000 fighter aircraft, 98,000 bombers, 24,000 transport aircraft.

On and on, 93,000 tanks, 257,000 artillery pieces, 105,000 mortars. Three million machine guns, 2,500,000 military trucks. We put 16 million men in uniform, various Armed Services, all over the world, Africa, Sicily, Italy. We won the battle for the Atlantic. We won in the Pacific. Three and a half years we did all that. In the same period of time the Obama administration could not even build a website.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: So what’s Obamacare gonna be like in three to five years? It’s easy. It’s gonna be expensive. It’s gonna be hard to come by. It’s gonna be leveled with bureaucracy. Getting treated is going to be an absolute challenge. There are going to be long lines. There are going to be disputes and arguments with your insurance company and doctor that’ll have to be settled by the government after three months of reviews. The evidence is clear. How is it with the DMV, folks, or any government bureaucracy? Name one that you like working with.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I got a better example for you. This guy that I quoted a moment ago wanted to know what Obamacare’s gonna be like three to five years down the road. I said, “Pick your government bureaucracy. Pick one. Is there any that you enjoy dealing with?” I cited the DMV, which is everybody’s default.

But actually if you want to be more accurate, dealing with the government on Obamacare is gonna be more like dealing with the IRS than with DMV, ’cause they are the ones who enforce it. They are the enforcement arm of Obamacare. They’re the ones gonna be assessing the fines. They’re gonna be the ones to whom you have to prove you’re following the law.

Your tax return is gonna become even more important and that’s where you’re either going to be given a stamp of approval or a penalty for not following the law on Obamacare. So the IRS is gonna end up playing an ever larger role in everybody’s life. Three to five years down the road if something isn’t done about this, it’s gonna be something you’re not gonna want to put up with. Your health care isn’t gonna be any better. Medicine isn’t gonna be any better. It’s not gonna be any more efficient. It isn’t going to be cheaper. None of the things that Obama promised you are going to come true.

Your premiums aren’t gonna go down. Your deductible isn’t gonna go down. You’re not gonna be able to keep your doctor, you already know this. You can’t keep your plan, you already know this. The bottom line is, what is going to happen in the next three to five years with Obamacare is nothing any citizen would ask for. Simplest way I could explain it. If you could devise health care for you and your family, just write whatever you want your health care life to be. Whether you want to have insurance or not, just write it down. Whatever you want, whatever would work best for you is not even going to be available for the vast, vast majority of Americans, because you’re not going to have any control over your health care, which is the bottom line, none.

In three to five years, if nothing changes, the only place you’re going to be able to go for health insurance and medical treatment will be the United States government, and specifically the IRS and the Department of Health and Human Services. That’s gonna be your option unless you have a lot of money and can set up a health care system for yourself, a network of your own, which is not in any way a part of the nation’s system. And that will exist. It does exist in Great Britain. Do you think the queen, the royal family messes around with the National Health Service? They don’t. Wealthy people in Great Britain have their own hospitals. They’ve got their own doctors.

Now, the British government is not happy about it and they constantly target those people. Same thing is gonna happen here. But it’s gonna require a lot of wealth, thereby exempting the vast majority of people. It isn’t going to be good. They call it whatever they want, single payer. That disguises what it actually is. But what the Regime is hoping for is that in three to five years that you will have all forgotten that you ever had anything different, that you ever had anything better. That’s the objective. Just three to five years, just wipe out your memory that there was ever anything better, that there was ever anything more efficient. In three to five years they want most people to think this is what it is, it’s the best it’s ever been, brought to you by Barack Obama and the Democrat Party.
