Rush Revere Book #2 Hits #1

by Rush Limbaugh - Mar 12,2014

RUSH: Rush Revere and the First Patriots has hit Amazon’s number one slot. That’s not supposed to happen with sequels. Six months. That’s not only not supposed to happen with sequels, it’s not supposed to happen with books released six months apart. Not done. You made it happen. This is not done. We’re gonna end up here — other than Harry Potter, Harry Potter, that series, of course, is the other exception to the rule. But it looks like on the New York Times best-seller list for children’s books, both of them, Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims and Rush Revere and the First Patriots, is gonna be on the list at the same time.

But it’s not just Amazon. It’s Books-A-Million and Barnes & Noble. All three, numero uno. And I am gratified, I can’t tell you. Imagine getting that kind of response. I didn’t even have to go on an Internet comedy show to pitch the book. I didn’t need a celebrity endorser. I didn’t have to go on television or radio thousands of times. I just needed to tell you. And I can’t tell you how it irritates them.

I’m sitting in the library last night and I’m doing show prep, and I get a text message from Kathryn, “Check Drudge.” I said, “Oh, maybe they found the airplane.” So I went to Drudge and there’s a giant graphic of the cover of the book, number one again. And I said, “Wow, this is just so cool, folks.” And, really, nothing but you. I mean, we’re not out there on television pitching it. I didn’t go on Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis or anywhere else, for that matter. I made this point yesterday. I’ve gone out of my way not to make these books overtly political.

Now, that is by virtue of terminology, but political conclusions, lessons, are clear in the Rush Revere book series. I mean, it’s mindful of the audience here, 10- to 13-year-old skulls full of mush. So the label route is avoided and just the type is taught, the elements of liberalism, conservatism are taught but never mentioned. And this was done strategically. These books are about actual historical facts. Oh, by the way — well, I shouldn’t say this. Some things you gotta keep in reserve, but don’t you know how this is just irritating them, Mr. Snerdley? I’m talking about the left. They have been so sure that they have marginalized not just me, folks, but you as well. So, numero uno, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, and two books on the New York Times list at the same time.

Well, you know, it is interesting, apparently a lot of retail locations in Florida ran out of the book yesterday. I have no idea what was going on, but apparently a bunch of patriots went out there and just cleaned out a bunch of retail outlets as well. I started getting reports on that late in the afternoon. People were saying, “What is going on?” I had no idea. So it’s all good and it’s just the first day, just off and running.
