RUSH: There’s another argument that’s percolating out there that I’m gonna nuke as well, and here it is articulated by well-known racist, Luis Gutierrez, Democrat, Illinois. He’s on the floor of the House yesterday.

GUTIERREZ: This is despicable and cowardly and precisely the kind of reaction ISIS wanted! ISIS could not have written a better script. The free people of the world are turning their backs on people seeking safety and freedom. When we sent Jews back to Germany and when we sent Japanese to internment camps, we regretted it — and we will regret this as well. … … [T]hey cannot actually stop refugees from resettling in their states, and they know it. How sad. instead, they have instructed state agency not to assist people fleeing terror. We are a better country than that.

RUSH: So we’re all bigots, folks, according to Luis Gutierrez, we are all bigots because we are wary of an unstemmed flow of Syrian refugees. And the latest attempt being employed by people like Gutierrez here is to equate this with what we did with the Jews in World War II. They made a movie of this, by the way. I saw the movie, and I was too young. I didn’t know what it was. It was one of the most boring movies I’d ever seen. I didn’t know what it was about. I didn’t have any historical concept or knowledge at the time I saw the movie. But it was popularized. But it’s time to nuke this, too, folks. I mean, these people are coming at us with arguments that are just hanging curveballs.

RUSH: Look, folks, this whole argument that we are being mean-spirited, inhumane, no compassion, and that ISIS is loving this, this is exactly what ISIS wants. ISIS is trying to demonstrate that we are the world’s bad guy, according to Luis Gutierrez, and that we’re falling for an ISIS trap by opposing these refugees. You know, we’re not the Republican Party here and fall for stupid tricks like this. That is one of the most pathetic attempts at intimidation, bullying or persuasion I’ve encountered, that by protecting the country, engaging in national security concerns, determining who gets in the country and who doesn’t, we are doing the work of ISIS? Somehow we end up on a scale, a bigger threat and more immoral than ISIS, according to Luis Gutierrez and Obama and the Democrats.

What percentage of Syria is Christian, do you know? I will tell you. It’s 10%. Ten percent. Of all these refugees from Syria, 2.4% are Christian. Ninety percent of Syria, well, 70% of Syria is Muslim. It doesn’t sound like we’re being too discriminating to me, unless you want to talk about discrimination against Christians. We’re letting in Syrian refugees left and right. Obama wants to ramp it up. We’re at 10,000, he wants to make it a hundred thousand. He wants no end to it. Then you go to the southern border and add up what’s happening there and you find out this isn’t about compassion. It just so happens the Hispanic vote’s 80% Democrat. So is the Muslim vote in America, 80%. They don’t care what happens to the country as long as they’re running it because they don’t think any of this is ever gonna end up being in their neighborhood. Sad but true.

The French, they’ve been tolerant as all get out. Look what happened. Did ISIS love them? Is ISIS appreciative of all the tolerance the French have engaged in over the years and the rest of the countries in Europe? It seems to me ISIS has been mounting attacks in these places that have been over abundantly tolerant, Mr. Gutierrez. It seems like these European countries have set themselves up. They thought they were being nice guys and they thought they were demonstrating they were being nice guys and they thought they were demonstrating they were tolerant, and they thought they were buying insurance against any terrorist attack, and look what’s happening, Mr. Gutierrez.

You can try this rigmarole bullying on us, but remember, we’re not the Republican Party here, we’re not gonna fall for this kind of tactics designed to get us to shut up or agree with you.

RUSH: I have a great place here from National Review Online today by Ian Tuttle: “There Are Serious, Unbigoted Reasons to Be Wary of a Flood of Syrian Refugees.”

That’s the headline. And, by the way, I’ll admit there are a lot of comparisons you can make between Nazis and Muslims, but this is not one of them. But that’s not stopping the Drive-Bys. It’s not just Luis Gutierrez. This whole Jewish card that’s being played out here is starting to ramp up, and we need to shut it down.

“Among politicians and their clingers-on, journalists, nothing takes hold like a bad historical analogy. Thus as politicians — 29 governors chief among them — call for a halt to our Syrian-refugee-resettlement program on the grounds that it might be exploited as a conduit for terrorists, pundits are invoking the plight of Jewish refugees fleeing Adolf HitlerÂ’s Germany in an effort to soften American hearts. The Washington PostÂ’s Dana Milbank wrote Monday, ‘This growing cry to turn away people fleeing for their lives brings to mind the SS St. Louis, the ship of Jewish refugees turned away from Florida in 1939,’ while his colleague Ishaan Tharoor contended: ‘TodayÂ’s 3-year-old Syrian orphan, it seems, is 1939Â’s German Jewish child.’ Meanwhile, a Daily Kos headline shouts: ‘Replace “Syrian” with “Jewish” and weÂ’re back to 1939.'”

This is nonsense on its face, “which should be obvious from the terms being compared.” Does anybody spot the first analogous error? Jews are an ethnic group. Syrians are a national group. Syrians are from a nation. Jewish people are ethnic. “An honest, apples-to-apples comparison would line up German Jews and Syrian Muslims. … The first, and most obvious, difference: There was no international conspiracy of German Jews in the 1930s attempting to carry out daily attacks on civilians on several continents.”

It was the first thing I thought of. I read these comparisons, Dana Milbank and others, the Jews of World War II and that ship, the SS St. Louis that wasn’t permitted to land in Miami, what do they have in common with the Syrian refugees? Absolutely nothing. German Jews were not terrorists in any way, shape, manner, or form. They were not trying or carrying out daily attacks on civilians in several continents and fleeing capture.

large
“No self-identifying Jews in the early 20th century were randomly massacring European citizens in magazine offices and concert halls, and there was no ‘Jewish State’ establishing sovereignty over tens of thousands of square miles of territory, and publicly slaughtering anyone who opposed its advance.” There’s no comparison to ISIS and Jewish people. There’s no comparison to Syrian refugees and the Jews that were fleeing Germany, and why is the comparison being made? Don’t forget the reason for the comparison is a bunch of liberals looking to find fault yet again with America. We are the rotten apple. We are the common denominator bad guy in this, as far as they are concerned. We didn’t let that ship of Jewish people land in Miami. We are not letting the Syrian refugees in. We are reprobates. We are inhumane. We’re bitter clingers. We’re rotten people, no compassion, no hearts.

But the analogy is so flawed, it doesn’t hold up, it doesn’t make any sense. And the only reason for the analogy is so these liberals can once again attack this country and this country’s majority population. That’s exactly what this is, make no mistake about it. There is no Jewish state today like there is an ISIS doing what they’re doing, and there wasn’t then, back in World War I or World War II.

“The vast majority of Syrian Muslims are not party to these strains of radicalism and violence, but it would be dangerous to suggest that they do not exist, or that our refugee-resettlement program need not take account of them,” which is what Obama is saying, don’t worry about it, we got a handle, we’re vetting them. There’s nothing to vet them against. Anyway, it’s an absurd allegory and analogy and comparison, but remember the primary reason for it is so that these people can once again blame America for what’s happening here. That’s why I think people need to know who liberals are the minute they spot them because that’s what liberals do.
