RUSH: Here’s John in Alcoa, Tennessee, as we head back to the phones.  Hey, John. What’s up. What is happening?  How are you?

CALLER:  Mr. Limbaugh, thanks for taking my call.  I definitely appreciate it.  And I just want to say right off the bat, I’m not saying you’re wrong.  I just think you’re looking at this the wrong way.  I think for this Thanksgiving, I’m eternally grateful for the media.  I think they’ve been so over the top in Hillary Clinton’s camp, and so over the top with their bias against conservatism — and, of course, especially Donald Trump — that I think they actually helped elect him.  I think they’re exposing — you know, WikiLeaks, of course, exposing — the collusion with Democratic Party.

RUSH:  Okay.  But what are you gauging that I may be, not wrong about, but thinking wrong or whatever you’re saying?

CALLER:  Just… (chuckles) It’s probably the first time I’m saying this in recent years, but again, I’m grateful for the media.  I think that we should be happy and we should encourage —

RUSH:  I know, but what do you think I…? What do you think I want to happen with the media that I’m wrong about?

CALLER:  No, I just think that looking at it in a negative fashion, their bias and their —

RUSH:  No.

CALLER:  — over-the-top liberalism.

RUSH:  No. It… Well, yeah, but I do what I always do; I am trying to help people decipher it and understand it.  I don’t think they’re gonna change.  Look, it’s nothing more than a circle jerk.  These people do not know anything. They don’t know what they’re talking about.  It’s been demonstrated!  Whatever show, whatever panel, they don’t know what they’re talking about.

CALLER:  Agreed.  I just think we should be celebrating that fact.

RUSH: Did I just say, “circle jerk”? Well, it is. I’m sorry.

CALLER:  They’ve gone so over the top —

RUSH:  Right.

CALLER:  — they’re not even hiding it anymore, and that’s helping the independent —

RUSH: (little kid’s voice) “Mommy, what’s a ‘circle jerk’?”  I’m sorry.  They don’t know what they’re talking about. So your point may be good, that the media in effect… You’re saying that it was a net asset.

CALLER:  Absolutely.  I feel like after the election with their accusations of racism and homophobic — not against Trump, but against the people who voted for him, I feel like they’re already working on the Trump 2020 reelection campaign.

RUSH:  You’re right. Look at their approval numbers. Like 70% of the people say they have no respect for and no belief in what they see in the mainstream media today.  That’s pretty high.  I mean, that ranks up there with members of Congress.  That’s pretty low. The thing is, they don’t care.  That’s the thing about it. They’re not gonna change, John. You need not worry that I’ll be effective in getting them to change, because they’re not going to.

CALLER:  No, no, no. I don’t want them to change.

RUSH:  That’s right.

CALLER:  I want to encourage them to be even more over the top, because I think in the long run that helps us.

RUSH:  Well, maybe, but I think it’s destructive.  I think it’s destructive to the culture.  Look at the people it misinforms.  Look at how… Look at the hatred in this country directly traceable to media reporting.  Look at the people scared to death. Look at the absolute BS millions of Americans think all because of the media and college professors and education. It’s not… It may help us win elections, but at some point, it’s still destructive.  There’s no way if you ever want the country to unify or example — or even come close to unifying. Total unification is not possible.  But, anyway, before I go here, John — I’m about out of time — would you like a brand-new iPhone or iPhone 7?

CALLER:  I would love one.  I’d be stupid to say no.

RUSH:  Which one, the 7 or 7 Plus?

CALLER:  That 7 Plus is just too big so probably the 7.

RUSH:  Okay.  It’s gonna have to be AT&T.  I do not have any Verizon iPhones… Well, now, wait a minute.  No, I don’t.  I do not have any Verizon iPhones in the small size.  Are you AT&T —

CALLER:  How about Sprint?  I’m Sprint.

RUSH:  No.  Verizon and… (sigh) I got caught up. I don’t have time to tell you why this is, but the upshot is, I do not have any iPhone 7s that work on Verizon.

CALLER:  Whatever you have, I’ll be appreciative of it.

RUSH:  You’ll like the Plus.  What color?

CALLER:  Did you say something about flat black or black?

RUSH:  Either one.  I’ll send you the matte black.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH:  Yeah, here’s more from the media.  Gallup poll. Ready for this?  Gallup poll just out.  “Most Americans are afraid Trump will just divide us further.” I’m telling you, folks, they don’t know what they’re talking about.  They’re out of their minds.  Now they’re putting stuff out there that doesn’t even makes sense with what just happened in the election.

RUSH: Thanksgiving week where once again on Wednesday we will tell you The True Story of Thanksgiving.

I was driving around yesterday, I was on the way to play golf, and I once again heard somebody describing the purpose of Thanksgiving as to give thanks to the Indians for saving the Pilgrims, as what it was.

That story has stuck. It is ingrained in the minds of at least — well, I don’t know how many different generations of people, but we’re starting to change that now.  You know, the Rush Revere Time-Travel Adventures with Exceptional Americans book series, that was our first book, Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims, a true story of the Pilgrims, who they were, where they came from, why they came, what was the first Thanksgiving, and who was the object of the thanks.

It was God.  The real Thanksgiving, first Thanksgiving, Pilgrim Thanksgiving was the Pilgrims thanking God for showing them to way to survival and success.  They originally landed and they tried what was known — it wasn’t known — tried essentially what was socialism.  Everybody got a fair plot of land, same amount, and they pooled everything that they made and they sold it and everybody got the same price for whatever.  It was a total commune.

And what quickly happened was human nature, a bunch of people figured out they were gonna get as much as anybody else no matter what they did, no matter what how hard they worked or if they didn’t work at all.  William Bradford didn’t take too long to figure out this wasn’t working, so instead they scrubbed it and they basically let the colonists — not the colonists — the Pilgrims produce what they wanted on their land and as much as they want and they got to keep essentially what they made, and there was bounty and abundance beyond their wildest dreams.

Now, the Indians had been helpful in a lot of ways.  The first Thanksgiving, the Pilgrims thanked the Indians for some of the assistance, but they had so much food they shared it with the Indians.  It wasn’t thanking the Indians for saving them and showing them the way.  It was thanking God.  But the point of all this is how much literal BS that people now believe in the media.  And I think, you know, our last caller said, “I hope this keeps up.  I think the media is why we won,” and I understand the thinking.

But, folks, I think what really happened was a majority of people that voted for Trump finally tuned ’em out.  I think people just stopped watching ’em.  I think people stopped reading.  I think they just got fed up and they realized that whatever they were watching did not reflect what they think or the country in which they live, the things they cared about, it just wasn’t there.  And I think they just turned it off.  And they found what they wanted within themselves, social media, radio talk shows, wherever they went, they found it elsewhere because it’s plentiful out there.

There’s all kinds of stuff other than the Drive-By Media.  They just ignored it.  But we didn’t know that at the time.  The fear during the entire year-and-a-half of the campaign was the media was wildly succeeding.  The media presented a picture every day of Trump falling apart and crumbling and Hillary just triumphing and soaring, reaching new heights.  And that’s what I think a lot of Trump voters didn’t even see ’cause they had tuned it out, and it was gradual over the course of the campaign to the point that I think millions of Americans just didn’t watch it.

Middle America, flyover country, elected Trump despite all the efforts of the Drive-Bys.  And I think it’s a trend.  I think it’s gonna continue.  The media is not going to change, folks.  The media is gonna double down and intensify, in fact, on the way they have been.  The media — I have pointed it out countless times — the only business I know of where the customer is happily wrong, the customer is dumb, the customer is ignorant, the customer is stupid.

In fact, it’s even worse than that.  The mainstream media doesn’t even care.  Their audience is each other.  It really is.  Take your favorite drive-By Media person.  They go on the air with a report.  They’re not reporting to you.  They’re not trying to inform you or raise your level of awareness.  They’re showing off to other people in the media, “Hey, look at my report. Look who I know. Look what I got out there. Look at the news I found. Look how I’m moving the meter,” or what have you.  It’s all insider stuff.

This is the thing that has amazed me because I’m the exact opposite.  The audience is everything, and gaining as big an audience as possible as a true measure of success has always been my metric.  It obviously is not theirs.  Their metric, their success, they absolutely measure it by who wins and loses elections, and some other factors, but they’re not market oriented factors at all.  And they’re going to continue this and they’re gonna continue to alienate people as time masses here.

And if you’re holding out hope that they may one day see the light and report on Trump and his administration honestly, I wouldn’t put a lot of money on that if I were you.  It isn’t going to happen.  Their mission is gonna take Trump out.  It’s like this Gallup poll that just came out.  There’s a Gallup poll out that 77% of Americans believe the nation is divided on the most important values.  But it’s not Obama’s fault.

Seventy-seven percent of Americans, a new high, believe the nation is divided on the most important values.  Twenty-one percent believe it’s united and in agreement.  So they’re trying to say that Trump has divided the country.  The timing of this poll, after the election, 70 some odd percent, you can’t fool me what they’re trying to portray here.

So after Trump wins an election that nobody thought he was gonna win and wins it decisively, guess what?  The country thinks we’re more divided than ever.  Well, a caveat.  The country may think that, but the Gallup poll is attempting to say Trump’s election is the cause of their thinking that.  And nothing could be further from the truth.

Trump was elected because of the cast of Hamilton.  Trump was elected because of Black Lives Matter.  Trump was elected because of Occupy Wall Street.  Trump was elected because of Obama.  Trump was elected because of what the Democrats have been doing.  And there are other positive reasons why Trump’s been elected, too, because of who he is, what he stands for, and what his voters all believe is going to happen.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: So here’s another example that I just love.  This is right up there with what happened at the Hamilton show with Pence. It’s a little bit different venue, but it’s the same mind-set.  Our old buddy Joel Pollak, who is one of the reporters at Breitbart, accepted an invitation to appear on NPR, a program called…? What’s the name of the program?  Ta ta ta ta.  It doesn’t matter. Whatever the program, he went to appear on the program, live.

And he ended up telling the truth about Hillary and Trump. In other words, he said a bunch of things that leftists do not believe.  He defended Steve Bannon, who ran Breitbart.  He turns the tables.  He pointed out that NPR has racist programming, including a story calling the 2016 election results, “Nostalgia for a Whiter America.

And NPR was so upset that the opposing point of view has been heard that they have banned live interviews of conservatives.  NPR is now going to pre-tape any interviews with conservatives and edit out the “conservative lies,” quote/unquote before airing it, and this is federally funded.  This is National Public Radio! Live interviews with conservatives, according to Breitbart, will no longer be permitted on NPR.  It’s the only way to stop them from telling the truth.
