RUSH: Cameron in St. Louis. Great to have you, sir.

CALLER: Thank you, Rush. The pleasure’s all mine. So changing gears a little bit from previous conversation today, there’s a big Senate race, as you know, going on in West Virginia.

RUSH: Right.

CALLER: It’s a real chance for the Republicans to defeat Senator Joe Manchin. Lots of sites list it as a toss-up. The primary is tomorrow, and it’s really, really close, and this morning President Trump tweeted to stay away from Don Blankenship because of his past deeds and just because he essentially seems to be unelectable.

RUSH: This is the guy that’s calling Mitch McConnell “Cocaine Mitch,” right?

CALLER: Cocaine Mitch. He dubbed him that. He got four Pinocchios on the Washington Post, things like that. So he doesn’t seem to be an electable guy. So President Trump, what he did was tweeted his support for two people. He said, “Don’t vote for Don Blankenship. You should vote for either Congressman Evan Jenkins or Attorney General Patrick Morrisey.” So that concerns me a little bit because he’s endorsing two people. My thought is what happens if that vote splits?

RUSH: Well, but, it’s a primary. See, he cannot endorse… Believe me, it’s problematic to endorse one over another in a primary here, ’cause he doesn’t want… One of them may win. He doesn’t want the guy mad at him. So he’s asking people to avoid Blankenship, whatever. He said remember Alabama. Clarion call, remember Roy what’s-his-face. Yeah, Roy Moore. Don’t want the same thing to happen.

I understand him not doing it. You would think if he endorsed one of those guys then one of those guys would have a better chance of winning and that way cut into the whatever damage Blankenship’s gonna do. You may have a point, but I just don’t see how he could endorse one of these two guys so he’s trying to endorse both of them. We’ll see what happens. The fact that Blankenship is attracting a crowd is its own interesting talking point to me.
