RUSH: San Diego. It’s Mike. Glad that you waited. Welcome to the EIB Network. Hello, sir.

CALLER: Hi, Rush. I’ve got a big smile on my face because I’ve listened to you for years and this is the first time we’ve ever talked.

RUSH: Well, welcome to the snow.

CALLER: Last hour you talked about the fact that the left is doing everything they can to nail Trump, and yet his ratings still go up. And it dawned on me, why is that? And in my opinion the reason is that those of us who voted for Trump are focused on the big picture, and the big picture is saving America, make America great, saving it from going fascist, socialist, or whatever. And the left is focused on minutia like, oh, Stormy Daniels, or $130,000 so it doesn’t come out. Yes, we’re interested in immigration, but we want the wall. And they don’t want to hear that. So, in my opinion, we’re focused on the big. They’re just talking about the little, and we really don’t care about the little.

RUSH: That’s it. That last part there is it. Take a look at CNN’s ratings. When was it, the Trump rally that was last Wednesday night or something. Whenever it was, or some other big event, Fox News televised it live. Fox News had a larger audience than MSNBC and CNN and one other cable network combined. CNN did not cover the Trump event. They boycotted it.

CNN, outside of special events, has a prime time total audience of about 700,000 people. In America, people are not watching. Trump people literally have abandoned this stuff. Trump people are not watching it. They don’t care. They’ve gotten past needing to be informed as to what Trump opposition is up to. MSNBC has a little bit higher audience than CNN does, but together they don’t even equal the audience of Fox any time of the day, whatever day part you look at.

The over-the-air broadcast networks don’t cover any of this stuff live at night anyway. They’re wedded to their prime time programming. But the point is that while you and I — we talk about it all day — may think that the Drive-By Media is ubiquitous out there, in Trump country they’re not even watching it anymore. And when they do, they’re not affected by it. These people have been singularly unable to separate Trump from his base supporters.

The New York Times even has a story documenting this with polling data and interviews, and they are beside themselves. They can’t believe it. After all they’ve put into trying to make it happen, forcing a bigger bond, they’re creating a bigger bond with Trump supporters and Trump, and they’re expanding the number of people who end up being in the support group for Trump. It’s basic human nature. They’re absent it, they don’t follow it, it doesn’t compute with them. So I think you’re right on the money when you say Trump people don’t care. They’re living the dream elsewhere, absent CNN.
