RUSH: Now, yesterday we mentioned that there was a Google video released. Every Friday, the top people at Google — I mean, it’s a massive number of people that work there, which is a point that needs to be made in a minute. But every Friday they have a meeting of their top, it’s like a hundred people, and they gather in a room, and it’s where they discuss their future, things going on at the moment, current events, any number of things.
And the meeting they had after the election in 2016, well, there’s a video, I guess, made of these meetings because there’s a watermark stamp “internal use only” all over this video. Somebody leaked it. Somebody leaked it to I think Breitbart.
Now everybody has seen it. We’ve linked to it, by the way, at RushLimbaugh.com. It runs about an hour. You really should take the time to watch this, even if you don’t have an hour, solid, you need to take the time to watch this. I’ve got some highlights from it coming up here in just a second. What it illustrates is — and look, I don’t mean to sound arrogant myself about this. What it shows is that Google is nothing more than a Democrat Party adjunct, just like the mainstream media is.
Now, again, not trying to sound cocky here, but none of this is surprising to me, nor is it surprising when I learn it of Twitter. I don’t need to learn it of Twitter or of Google or of Microsoft. Like you don’t need to be shocked when you find out Hollywood’s a bunch of leftists. And what strikes me — and again, not trying to sound uppity here — I’m really shocked at all of the people on our side of the aisle, particularly in conservative media, who are shocked by this.
Now, the degree to which they’re committed to the Democrat Party may, I will acknowledge, be somewhat surprising to people; but the fact that these people are uber-leftists, that they are activists, and that they are actively involved in having Democrats elected and that they are actively involved in sabotaging conservative search results, conservative and Republican politicians, that should not be surprising to people.
But whatever works. I mean, if this video opens people’s eyes, then more power to it. As I say, don’t misunderstand. Now, we first discussed this yesterday because there was a segment from this where it was learned that Google was actually working with the Democrat Party to bus Latinos and Hispanics to vote in 2016 and how shocked and stunned they were when they found out that 29% of the Latinos they got to the polls voted for Trump! They were shell-shocked. They could not believe it.
Now, one of the things that I’ve been trying to convey intensely for the past two weeks is how literally — I don’t know what the word is. I keep falling back on “stupid” or “dumb” or “closed-minded.” But here you have, in Google, some of the most intelligent and advanced technological wizards in the country, and yet outside of that, it is stunning when you watch this video, it’s stunning to see how ignorant they are about over half of this country and the people who live in it and how they believe, how they worship, and what they think. It is stunning!
That shouldn’t be the case, either. The media’s the same way. The media’s a collective bloc of ignorance of everything outside their own protected little bubble. But it is striking to see people who obviously have the ability to learn, and that cannot be denied about these people. They have an abundant, overwhelmingly powerful ability to learn, and they don’t use it, or they haven’t. They are closed-minded, they are cocky and arrogant about it. They are ignorant. At the same time they are brilliant in the field of technology and its applications.
John Hinderaker at Power Line wrote about this in what many people think is the definitive analysis of the Google video. Headline: “It’s Official: Google is a Democrat Party Front.” And here are some of Hinderaker’s takes on this, which I think are very, very astute.
He says: “These people may have certain valuable technical skills, but they aren’t very bright and are unusually lacking in self-awareness.” Yeah, it’s another way of saying how insulated they are, how I mean genuinely ignorant. And they’re not even curious. They’re not curious about anything or anybody that is not like them.
And that’s stunning because we’ve been told our whole lives that they are the sensitive ones and that they are the tolerant ones and that they are the aware ones. And that all of these human characteristics and abundance of greatness they have, they possess. They don’t possess any of them.
Hinderaker says: “It is remarkable that they can achieve such an extraordinary monoculture in an organization with thousands of employees.” That is an interesting point, and what he means by this, Google has thousands and thousands of employees, and they all think alike. There is a singular culture at the place.
Remember when a rare conservative at Google wrote a memo about the discrimination against conservatives and the lack of fairness, they got rid of that guy, fired him publicly as quickly as they found out who he was. Now, Hinderaker says that it’s remarkable they could achieve such an extraordinary monoculture in an organization. Why?
The thing to understand about the founders of Google, Sergey Brin and Larry Page, their parents are academics. Their parents come from academe. And that is not everything you need to know, but that’s a lot, how Page and Sergey Brin ended up thinking, believing. Their lives were formed and shaped by academics, people that spend time on campus, and that is its own culture.
And boy, you talk about a bunch of people who think they’re better than everybody else, go to any faculty lounge at any major American university or college. I mean, it just drips on the floor, this cocksure superiority and arrogance that they possess. It’s combined with a look down the nose at everybody who’s not.
So how remarkable is it that the founders and then the eventual management suite of Google end up hiring only people who think alike. That wouldn’t be tough. That wouldn’t be tough at all. And it wouldn’t even take a very complicated employee interview exam to weed out the people who are critical thinkers and have the ability to think on their own. I mean, you can spot a liberal within two questions. And it’s clear that that’s what they want. They want singular thinking. They want a monoculture, and they’ve succeeded in putting it together, and they’ve succeeded in maintaining it.
And then Hinderaker says: “It is easy to see how these uniformly left-wing robots/people seamlessly transitioned into Resisting the duly elected Trump administration.” From this video, many people have concluded now that Google is actually an enemy of democracy, that it is an enemy of America, that it is an enemy of the American people, that Google, as constructed, is dangerous.
Some will acknowledge they didn’t start that way, but that’s how it’s evolved. I’m just sharing with you comments that I’ve heard other people have made about this. Google — I don’t know how many times I’ve mentioned this. Eric Schmidt, the CEO of Google for the longest time, that’s who Brin and Page hired — Larry Page is the CEO of Alphabet, which is now the parent over Google, and there’s a guy named Sundar Pichai, who is CEO of Google. And they had an office in the Obama West Wing! They practically had an office. Google was a right hand of Barack Obama, the Google tech. All of their search algorithms that were put to singular use for the benefit of Barack Obama and the Democrat Party.
Let me give you a taste of some of this, some excerpts via sound bite of this video that Breitbart exclusively got hold of. We start with Sergey Brin, who’s one of the two founders, and he’s standing at a podium saying this.
BRIN: Okay, folks. I know this is probably not the most joyous TGIF we have had, and, you know, let’s face it, most people here are pretty upset and pretty sad because of the election. Myself as an immigrant and a refugee, I certainly find this election deeply offensive. And I know many of you do too. And I think it’s a very stressful time, and it conflicts with many of our values.
RUSH: It was a pity party in there, folks. These people were panicked, they looking around at each other, didn’t know what was going on, they were afraid of for their lives and for their futures and so forth, all because of the outcome of an election that they thought they had wired. They thought they had it taken care of. They thought Hillary Clinton was gonna win. They’re just like everybody else on the left. Hillary was gonna win in a landslide. They had gotten Hispanics out to the polls. They’d taken care of every variable that they got their hands on. And still this guy Trump.
“I myself as an immigrant and a refugee certainly find this election deeply offensive.” This country is not frightening to immigrants. This country isn’t a threat to immigrants nor refugees. These people run around, they conflate illegal immigration with every other form of immigration. They assign no difference whatsoever. They refuse to see it! Refuse! As blockheaded as they are, they refuse to see the simple difference in illegal immigration and legal! And Sergey Brin was not an illegal immigrant! But he wants to pass himself off as one. Up next is Ruth Porat. She is the chief financial officer.
PORAT: I reached out to someone close to me who was at the Javits Center where the big celebration was supposed to occur in New York City, someone who’s been working on the campaign. And I just sent ’em a note and said, “You know, are you okay? Looks like it’s going the wrong way.” And I got back a very sad, short text that read, “People are leaving. Staff is crying. We’re gonna lose.” That was the first moment I really felt like we were gonna lose. It was this massive, like, kick in the gut that we were gonna lose. And it was really painful.
RUSH: Now, we don’t mean to sit here and mock the pain and suffering of losing an election. We’ve all been through it. But you don’t win everything you seek to win, you lose some, you win some, you get up, you pick up and you keep going. To these people it was the end of everything and that meant that they had to immediately begin to sabotage what had won. They had to begin immediately the undermining of the people who had won simply because they had the audacity to win. Who do they think they are beating us? Here’s more from Ruth Porat, the chief financial officer.
PORAT: I suggested that what we all need right now is a hug. So everybody, if you could turn around or go to the person next to you and do a hug. It works. Whoo!
RUSH: We cut the applause, but it continued. The communal hug accompanied by the communal tears, the communal commiseration, and the attempt here to feel better. This happened, you know, when John Kerry lost. There were psychiatrists down here in south Florida who opened their doors for people having panic attacks. You never hear about this happening to conservatives or Republicans when they lose elections. You never hear about these kind of meltdowns. One more before the break. This is back to Sergey Brin and Sundar Pichai, who is the CEO.
BRIN: Are we amplifying people’s existing beliefs through our personalization algorithms?
PICHAI: I think it’s something we should think a lot about our products. Core to our goal is getting information. A bigger question I am also worried is, I think we think we are getting information and improving knowledge, but I don’t think it’s reaching certain people at all, so there seems to be a selection bias. There are people who are completely being left out.
RUSH: I wonder why that might be! They’re worried here in this bite that everything they’re doing to turn this country into abject liberalism isn’t working ’cause they’re not reaching enough people, and it may be those people’s fault.
RUSH: Bob in Westchester, New York! That would be line 4. Welcome to the program, Bob. How you doing?
CALLER: Thank you, Rush. I’m doing fine. How are you?
RUSH: I’m fabulous. Great to have you here with us.
CALLER: Thank you for your truth in broadcasting.
RUSH: Oh, you’re more than welcome. It’s the only way I know how to do it out there, Bob, the only way I know how to do it.
CALLER: The people who work at Google, the type of people they are and everything. I have a direct relative who is working at it, and basically he was just a gamer as a kid growing up. Everybody was afraid of him. Totally into computers, on the cusp, still on the cusp. So he’s gone through it, now he’s in his late twenties, and… Can you hear me? Not sure you can hear me.
RUSH: Yeah. I’m wondering what this is about.
CALLER: He’s in his late twenties and just can’t relate to anybody. You know, he’s okay now; he’s not dangerous. Everybody was afraid of him when he was a kid —
RUSH: Why was anybody…? Hold it! Bob? Bob? Bob, why was anybody afraid of him as a kid?
CALLER: Because he was one of these computer geek kids who you just thought could be could go and shoot up a school at the time. His parents were really afraid of him.
RUSH: You thought he was gonna shoot up a school!
CALLER: No, I didn’t say he was going to. He thought he could shoot up a school. His parents were afraid of him.
RUSH: I see. It’s a distinction. Yeah. Got you. “Could.”
RUSH: Right. Okay.
CALLER: He’s that type of kid who you never knew about. As he grew older and got through college and everything, he got better. But he still can’t relate to people, and that’s a lot of the type of people who are working at these big internet companies, the Googles and Facebooks and those types, and I just want to shed some light on the type of people who are there.
RUSH: So your nephew is a recluse, can’t relate to people because he’s been buried in a device screen for all of his life and probably doesn’t do well mixing with people. I know people like that. I’ve seen the profile of people like that, and it may be a decent percentage of the people who are in Silicon Valley. I don’t know. What’s remarkable about it all is that Google has thousands and thousands and thousands of people.
Folks, I want you to stop. Let me put it this way to try to explain this. Imagine yourself opening a business. Pick the business; it doesn’t matter what. But it’s something you love and so you care enough you’re gonna open a business. You’re hell-bent on everybody that you hire, at first, thinking like you do because I think it’s crucial for the business to succeed. So you have your small business going, and you have obviously created a culture. The culture is based on your values and your desires, your business expectations.
Now imagine growing at an exponential rate to the tune of thousands of people. How do you maintain your culture as you keep hiring. Before you even get to a thousand employees, you’ve got 200 or even 1,000, how do you make sure that every one of them is a mini-you, that every one — when it comes to politics — thinks exactly like you do? So much like you, you don’t have to tell them what to think. So much like you, you don’t have to give ’em memos on how to vote, how to think on this issue or that.
Now you’ve got 500, and that 500 becomes a thousand, and then eventually you’re looking at 10,000 — and in the case of Apple, hundreds of thousands of employees. Google is the same. How do you establish — this is one of the most amazing things. How do two guys, Sergey Brin and Larry Page…? Maybe throw Eric Schmidt in there who became CEO. How do you do that? How do you establish a culture that is exclusively what you are throughout thousands and thousands of people?
You might have a rogue now and then like Google did, the guy wrote about the bias that exists there, but look what happened to him. Gone! Humiliated. Remember the guy at Mozilla? They do the Firefox browser. It was discovered this guy had donated some money to Proposition 8 in California that was against gay marriage I think or something like that. They publicly humiliated him and got rid of him — and he, to this, day doesn’t want to talk about it.
Stop think how hard that is. Stop and think. Look at a news network. How many people you have to hire at a news network? Not just the journalists that are on the air. You’ve got the editors. You got the producers. You got the assignment editors. You have the clerical staff, cameramen, sound stage managers and all of this. Then you got makeup and hair. How do you make sure that your political culture is uber-radical leftist featuring hatred and ignorance of conservatives? How do you do that?
And that’s what Google has done. Interesting. You know, if I may take this a step further, this is exactly — and do not doubt me on this. This is exactly why the left hates Fox. And this is exactly why the left hated Roger Ailes because he was able to do it to the conservative side. Stop and think of this. At Fox News, one guy who was not ever on the air was able to establish a culture that was totally at odds with anything else in the media. Fox News was conservative when it started. A lot of people think it’s not that anymore.
I don’t want to get in an argument about that. I’m saying, “Do you know how hard that is in the media universe? Do you know how hard it is to do that, that everybody you hire or put on the air…?” Now, granted with Fox they’ve branched out. Now they’ve got analysts and commentators for balance that come from the left and so forth. But still, the overall identity of Fox is conservative. This is why they hated Ailes. They despised Ailes because he was able to do that, and he was able to do it with the force of his personality and his passion.
He represented a huge threat. That’s why all of us in conservatism who are with large groups of people, either audience or employees, is why they’re feared and hated and despised. The random individual conservative, nobody cares. It isn’t any big deal. But you get a whole organization of ’em, and look at it! Even Obama’s running around telling everybody, “We gotta put Fox News out of business! We gotta shut Fox News down.” Why?
They own 95% of the media. I’m telling you, that’s what stairs ’em. But that’s how they do it. Not only do they do it, how they do it. But the fact that they have established this dominant, radical leftist culture, Hollywood, Silicon Valley, basically all of pop culture. And then once it’s established, it quickly becomes learned and discovered by people that if you want to succeed there, you’ve gotta be what they are. You can’t go in there and go rogue. Only a very few are able to get away with that.
