RUSH: I was at the White House for a Christmas reception, and (chuckles) I got an email, “Rush, I thought they canceled the media party.” They did. “Well, then what were you doing there?” I’m not the media that was canceled. Anyway, I took some pictures.

I didn’t have much free time. But I stole away from people, and I whipped out my iPhone XS Max — which has one of the greatest smartphone cameras made in the world today — and I snapped some pictures of the decorations.

My first White House Christmas party of any was during the George Bush 41 administration, George H. W. Bush. I was so dazzled by it. I mean, the entire first floor last night was open. Every room was decorated for Christmas, some slightly differently.

The East Room and the State Dining Room were used for buffets and in the hallways were wide open and they had various orchestras, four- and five-piece orchestras playing Christmas music.

And it was teeming with people.

I stole away and I took some photos. I was dazzled by the decorations the first time, and most people will never get in there at one of these parties.

So I took some pictures of the library and some of the primary rooms that were decorated, and they’re up at RushLimbaugh.com.

Then I had a little conversation with President Trump and first lady, Melania Trump, and Donald Trump Jr. Somebody took a picture of that. That’s not permitted. Somebody took a picture of it. It’s on social media.

I went ahead and sent it to my website, too, since it’s out there.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I’ll tell you, I’m draggin’ a little here, folks. I had a busy day yesterday. I got wheels up for Washington at 12:30, which is why I couldn’t do the program yesterday. I had to be up there by 3, 3:30. I drove into the West Wing at about… What time was it, 3:30? Yeah. The Christmas bash started at 4. I spent some time with Vice President Pence in his office and then said hello to a lot of people in the communications shop in the West Wing. I met Mercedes Schlapp, the wife of Matt Schlapp. They run CPAC.

She’s now working as communications director at the White House. Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Sean Spicer was even in there. I said, “I thought you resigned.” He said, “Yeah, yeah, yeah, but I can’t take myself away.” So it was on to the reception, Christmas party. Again, pictures…

I tried to take some pictures of the decorations, and I should have told you. There are people in these photos, but that’s not the… There’s no hidden things to see there.

The purpose of taking the pictures was the decorations. I really… They do it so well. The first time I saw it, I was dazzled and blown away. When you have the staff and the time and the money, you obviously can do it right, and every square inch of that place is decked out just perfectly, flawlessly for Christmas, and they opened the entire first floor of the White House, all of the rooms and the hallways. And it was teeming with people.

So I would sneak away from people, and I took some pictures, and I didn’t get nearly all of it, folks. It was not possible. I would have had to have been rude to people and say, “Look, I really don’t need to talk, I have to take some pictures for people.” I couldn’t do that. So I had to sneak away and run into corners of rooms to take the pictures, and even then in the middle of that, it’d be, “Would you kindly pose for…?” Everybody was nice.

But I got as many pictures as I could and we’ve posted them at RushLimbaugh.com. I really wish everybody could see these; so that’s why I did it. From there I went to Boston, a family situation in Boston I want to spend some time with.

I ended up rolling in last night about 3:30. And so I’m starting to feel it, starting to… But you wouldn’t know it if I hadn’t told you. I told you not because I am eliciting sympathy. I don’t know why I told you. I just did. But that was the day yesterday.
