RUSH: A legendary Motown performer, Gladys Knight, will sing the National Anthem at this year’s Super Bowl in Atlanta. Minus the Pips.

These days, singing the National Anthem is considered “controversial.” So Gladys Knight released a statement in Variety. She said that it’s her understanding that Colin Kaepernick was protesting two things: police violence and injustice. It’s “unfortunate” she said, that our National Anthem was dragged into that debate.

Gladys Knight said that on Super Bowl Sunday, she wants to give our National Anthem its voice back. She wants to stand up for the historic words that unite us when we hear it. And she reminded people that she’s been fighting against prejudice her entire life. (Yeah, the Pips can provide troubles out there.)

Liberals on social media are outraged, and they’re dumping their usual hate on Gladys Knight. Twitter! Some are even betting that she will buckle to the pressure and will take a knee or raise a fist after she sings the anthem.

It took courage for Gladys Knight to stand up against the left-mob on Twitter. She’s old school. I would not bet against her. The Pips? They’d probably cave. I hope not, but you just don’t know.
