RUSH: Hey, do you remember when the Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad visited Columbia University in New York? It seems like yesterday, but it was in September 2007.
During the Q & A, a Columbia student asked about Iran’s harsh treatment of women and homosexuals.
Ahmadinejad denied it. He said Iranian women enjoyed the highest levels of freedom — and then Mahmoud claimed that unlike America, there were no homosexuals in Iran.
The students at Columbia erupted in laughter. Well, the laughter turned to silence when Ahmadinejad said, “Who told you there are homosexuals? Do you know where they are? Can you tell me?” No one volunteered any names.
We now know who was right and who was wrong. Earlier this month, a 31-year-old man was publicly hanged in Iran after he was found guilty of sex with another man.
Apparently, the Columbia students were right. There was at least one homosexual, maybe two, in Iran. Eventually, the truth does win out.
So where is old Mahmoud these days, anyway? Selling meat somewhere in Iran’s falafel district, or maybe in San Francisco? On the down low? Where is Mahmoud Ahmadinejad? Maybe he’s still tracking and hunting.
