RUSH: At least four Republican Senators are expected to vote with the Democrats to oppose President Trump’s declaration of a national emergency at the southern border.

Two of the four are the usual nay-sayers, Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska. Tom Tillis of North Carolina and Rand Paul have also said they’ll go against Trump. Now, if all 47 Democrats stick together, Trump opponents will have 51 votes.

Mitch McConnell, The Turtle, laid out the likely scenario. President Trump will then veto the Congressional resolution, and Democrats in the House won’t have enough votes to override his veto.

So in the end, President Trump’s national emergency declaration will likely prevail. That is, if the inevitable court cases are resolved in the president’s favor.

But still, it’s inexcusable that at every step of the way, President Trump has to fight Democrats and members of his own party to do what Republican voters have been demanding for 20 years: Fix this broken illegal immigration system, starting with the emergency at the southern border. Just do it, as Nike said.
