RUSH: Pope Francis, during Easter week, has been preaching about the coronavirus.

In March, the Pope said the pandemic is nature “having a fit” because of pollution, the lack of any action on climate change. On April 1, April Fool’s Day, Il Papa said we got sick because we aren’t listening to “the cry of our ailing planet.” (What does that sound like?) And last Wednesday, he doubled down on his environmentalist-wacko message. He called the coronavirus pandemic “nature’s response” to man-made global warming.

During Easter week! In an interview with The Tablet, a Catholic magazine, the Pope quoted a Spanish expression: “God always forgives, we forgive sometimes, but nature never forgives.”

He said the world has not heeded recent catastrophes like the fires in Australia, melting North Pole glaciers (that aren’t melting), and recent floods. He said he isn’t sure if these are nature’s revenge, but “they certainly are nature’s responses.”

What a crock!

Pope Francis went on to say the coronavirus outbreak is an opportunity inspire change, “to slow down our rate of production and consumption.” He says it’s time to “move from using and misusing nature to contemplating it.”

Well, while we all contemplate nature, maybe we and other nations can also spend a few minutes contemplating our relationship with the ChiComs in light of this global economic shutdown.

Meanwhile, it’s no shock that Il Papa is spouting more left-wing wacko dogma. As I always say, liberals are liberals first — even the Pope. Trump celebrated Easter more than the pope did, at least as far as Good Friday was concerned. Go figure!
