RUSH: Six hundred fifty tea party events are slated for tomorrow. And, of course, we have this from NowHampshire.com — and this is all over the country: ‘New Hampshire Democrats are engaged in a statewide search for liberal activists willing to attend so-called tea parties on Thursday and carry signs expressing racist or fringe sentiments, a Democratic source with knowledge of the effort tells NowHampshire.com.’ Now, you think the White House does not know about this? The White House is in charge of this! This is Obama, the permanent campaign. ‘According to the source, who sought anonymity for fear of reprisals, the Dems’ last minute scramble reflects a growing obsession among party leaders that they need to discredit the tea party movement soon or it will overwhelm them come the November election.’

You’re not going to be able to discredit the tea party movement. It’s too broad-based, it’s too indefinable. You can’t really define the tea party. It’s made up of so many different people from all walks of life. And I find this fascinating. All of these news stories about how the Democrats are gonna try to infiltrate and make the thing look like it’s populated with a bunch of racists, sexists, bigots, and homophobes. Well, if everybody knows this, how can there be one story tomorrow or Friday about the tea party being racist, sexist, bigot, or homophobic? But don’t you just know that’s going to happen? You know it will. It’s gonna defy logic. It’s going to amaze you. You’re not gonna believe it. You’re going to think, ‘Well, how can they possibly report it when they know it’s phony?’

They want to report it because the objective from the White House on down through the government-run media is precisely to discredit the tea parties. And more and more people, by the way, in polling data suggest that they identify president tea party; and more and more people are admitting that they’re part of the tea party, which has no formal membership apparatus. You just show up at an event. It’s a genuine grassroots movement that is not built around the single leader or personality. Samuel Adams. Now, for those of you in Rio Linda, that’s the brewer, the guy that makes the great beer that you like to drink. Samuel Adams had a quote: ‘It does not take a majority to prevail but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men.’

Does that not perfectly illustrate and explain the tea party movement? ‘It does not take a majority to prevail but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires [I call them ‘Rush fires’] of freedom in the minds of men.’ That’s exactly what’s happening, and the Democrats are openly admitting their fear. They’re openly admitting they cannot engage them in the arena of ideas. They have to discredit them just as the left has to discredit anybody with any credibility who has ideas which disagree with theirs because they know that their ideas are flawed and built on lies. Get this. This is from the Raleigh News and Observer. Raleigh — Organizers of a tea party event planned for Thursday at the state Capitol are unhappy they can’t carry flags on poles because of state officials’ fears that they could be used as weapons.

‘The prohibition applies to the American flag, North Carolina’s state flag or anything else carried on a pole more than a foot in length. Scott Hunter, chief of the State Capitol Police, said that the group will be allowed to carry tiny flags of the kind handed out at parades and Fourth of July events. ‘It’s sad our country has come to this,’ said Laura Long, the Apex woman who applied for the permit on behalf of Triangle Conservatives Unite. The ban on flagpoles and signs with posts that could be turned into weapons was added in September to the permit from the N.C. Department of Administration that groups need to hold demonstrations or events on state-operated grounds.’

So where do you think this is coming from, when they say ‘state officials’? You know damn well this is coming from the Democrats in the state of North Carolina, and it is a way to blunt, if not stop, the tea party. So in North Carolina now you have two things that can happen. No flags or signs on a pole. A pole could be used as a weapon, don’t you know. No flag, no sign on anything longer than a foot. So guess what? All now the Democrat infiltrates have to do is come out with giant poles and put flags that have messages of racism and sexism and homophobia on them because the law-abiding tea party people are not allowed to carry anything. So the agitators, what did they care about breaking the law? They’re going to get away with it anyway, so keep a sharp eye for it. In North Carolina, if you see anybody with a long pole with a some sort of insulting flag on it (or note, message, what have you) it’s going to be based and probably the responsibility of these people infiltrating the tea party movement.

RUSH: We had a couple of conflicting stories here. First from The Oregonian. The Oregonian, this is of course in Oregon, their blog. ‘Jason Levin, the Portland man who caused a ruckus over his plans to ‘infiltrate’ Tea Party protests in an aim to discredit them, teaches in a Beaverton middle school and now faces an investigation by the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission.’ You see, folks, even teachers are regulated in this unfettered economy, as the regime describes it. ‘Melody Hanson, the commission’s director of professional practices, said Wednesday that the agency opened an investigation because ‘there was enough concern that there was some neglect of duty’ on the part of Levin.’ He’s skipping out on his teacher duties to run this website advising people how to infiltrate the tea parties. ‘Levin teaches in the media lab at Conestoga Middle School, although he described himself in an interview earlier this week with Talking Points Memo as a technology consultant. Levin started the website called Crash the Tea Party that he said was aimed at encouraging people –‘ you know what it is. ‘Both the school district and the teachers licensing commission received calls protesting Levin’s actions and saying it was inappropriate for teachers.’

Then we go to the Government-Run Associated Press: ‘A group planning to crash the Tea Party on tax day is led by an Oregon teacher, who has been threatened since his picture and personal phone number were posted on the Internet.
Beaverton Middle School teacher Jason Levin’s group wants to infiltrate the Tea Party to discredit the organization.’
Do you realize, folks, what we are talking about here? We have actual mainstream press reports of this guy’s attempt to infiltrate a genuine legitimate citizens group to discredit it and it’s reported as though it’s a ho-hum everyday occurrence, with a stamp of approval from every media outlet reporting it. Oh, yeah, just another day in America. A bunch of agitators are going to infiltrate a decent bunch of citizens groups and try to discredit them, and when they do, we’re going to report that the citizens group is a bunch of racists. So the teacher’s board is investigating the guy for dereliction of duty, essentially. And yet the AP’s got a sob story here on, poor guy, being harassed by people who say they belong to the tea party. I don’t believe this for a minute. I think he’s harassing himself. He’s probably making phone calls to himself or having his friends do it and saying it’s the tea party.

I’ll tell you something, Mr. Levin, the people in the tea party don’t care a rat’s rear end about you. The tea party could not care less about you or anybody else doing what you’re trying to do. You are not on their minds. These are not the kind of people that call you. They don’t even want to go through the trouble of finding out your phone number, Mr. Levin. You are as insignificant as an amoeba to them. They’re not going to waste valuable time trying to find out where you live or what your phone number is to call you up. So this is part of the subterfuge as well.

Brian somewhere in Illinois, great to have you on the EIB Network.

CALLER: Mega dittos, Rush. Thank you for letting me be the tip of the conservative spear if even for a few short moments.

RUSH: Thank you, sir, yes.

CALLER: I’m calling about Sam Adams because I didn’t learn anything about him in school, I know a lot of people didn’t. This guy is the epitome of what a tea party is, and he spent his entire life opposing British rule, and they hated him for it. He would have been one of the first men executed had we lost the Revolutionary War, and a lot of people don’t know the shots heard round the world were because Thomas Gates was trying to hunt down John — well, arrest John Hancock and Samuel Adams, and he is a true patriot that we did not learn about in the school system, and I wanted to inform some people of that. Thank you very much, and continue your great work.

RUSH: Thank you, thank you, thank you very much. He also makes a pretty damn good beer.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I was not kidding. The original Sam Adams did make beer. They actually called them maltsters back in those days. Maltsters produced the malt that is necessary to brew beer, and that’s what the original Sam Adams did. And you know something else about the original Sam Adams? He was a banker. He was an evil banker and a brewer of malt to give to beer brewers. He was also at one time a Boston tax collector. So if you close the loop on Sam Adams, it all makes sense that he would be the original revolutionary. He was a tax collector, he saw what happened, he was a maltster, a banker. And the previous caller was right, he’s not taught about much. Here’s his quote: ‘It does not take a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting [R]ush fires of freedom in the minds of men.’ Rush fires, he even knew my name back then.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Okay, back to the phones we go to Stuart, Florida, just up the road here, and this is Robert, great to have you here on the EIB-Network, sir, hello.

CALLER: Good afternoon, Rush.

RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: I will make my 68th visit next month, Memorial Day, to honor those who took a pledge to uphold and defend the Constitution of our United States.

RUSH: Yes.

CALLER: How am I going to face them knowing that the enemy, are we deserters because we took a pledge and are allowing these people to destroy? Flanders Fields, poppies will be worn on Memorial Day. And anyone who has a poppy, if you go to your Internet or whatever and punch in ‘In Flanders Fields,’ the last paragraph is ‘from failing hands we throw the torch; be yours to hold it high.’ We’ve done that. Every piece of ground that our president traveled over in Europe were graveyards. The sun is shining on the American flag all of 24 hours of the day. Unfortunately many of those flags are in national cemeteries. He wants a standing army, he has one, all of these veterans who took the oath to defend the United States and its Constitution, we are ready, but they’re taking it apart. Are we deserters? Have we done something wrong that he’s laughing at us? These are veterans. I served with your dad. I didn’t know him, but in the same theater, CBI. And, believe me, Rush, we’ve done a lot for this country, and these people in Washington, some of whom who campaigned that they’re veterans, how can they be a veteran when they went in there and destroyed — (unintelligible). I’m sorry if I’m emotional, but I’m a hundred percent disabled. I got hurt playing on a winning team, that’s all, we won the war. But for God’s sake, the American people, particularly the veterans, where are they? God Almighty, they look at the Atlantic Ocean, it’s a graveyard, and the Pacific and all. Please, people, we can win this battle not with bullets, we can win it with ballots. No one has to go on the line, just go —

RUSH: You asked ‘Where are the veterans?’ I think they’re all part of the mix here. A lot of people call here and say, ‘When are people going to wake up?’ They are awake. I haven’t seen this level of focused energy and opposition, focused energy to stop something, to repeal something, to turn this all back since I’ve been hosting this program. I think a lot of people, veterans, it’s a cross section of the entire American population. Everybody’s fed up and the numbers are continuing to rise. And they’re just laughing at us. They’re taunting us. They’re laughing. They sent Geithner out there today, ‘Yeah, we’re going to sweepingly reform this, first time in such fashion since the Great Depression.’ And Obama’s out there, we’re disarming, it was all forecast. Everybody on our side of the aisle knew all of this was coming. We knew this was what Obama and his regime were capable of. That realization is just now hitting a lot of people and more and more of them are realizing it each and every day. And it’s very frightening. The transformations have taken place in less than a year and a half.

So I understand your being emotional about it. You’re 100% permanently disabled. You’ve fought to defend freedom, the Constitution, and you see it being ripped apart right in front of your face and you probably think the people doing it are laughing at you, and they are. You’re nothing but a bitter clinger. Things don’t go right, you blame minorities, you cling to your guns, go to church, you seek comfort and solace wherever you can. This is what they think of us all. They’re afraid of us, too. They’re afraid of the tea parties. Look at what this regime has to do, ladies and gentlemen, in order to triumph. They’re not interested in debate, of course. No totalitarian or statist is. They have to discredit us. They’re openly admitting — and don’t think this isn’t coming from the White House and one of those many Obama websites — they’re openly advertising the fact that their attempt is to discredit members of the tea party who go to these rallies tomorrow, and in some cases rallies today.

This is a new eye opener. The State-Controlled Media is reporting. It’s not a secret. You would think that they would keep all these efforts to infiltrate quiet, and then tomorrow, report, ‘My God, look who these tea party people are, look at all those racist banners and signs.’ They’re not even bothering to do that because they’re having to recruit these infiltrators. That’s why they’re having to advertise it. Meanwhile, the media — (laughing) — is reporting it as though it’s ho-hum, happens every day, and then when tomorrow comes, they’ll report that the tea party’s a bunch of racist snobs and homophobes, even though they have reported all week that those people holding those signs are probably infiltrators.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Okay, reports are now 13,000 to 16,000 patriots at the tea party rally in Boston today. That’s the word from the police. The police are telling people that there were between 130,000 and 16,000 people in the rally today, ‘by far the largest conservative rally’ somebody’s seen, the cops or somebody, in Boston. I have a picture here, and it looks jam-packed. We haven’t yet had any reports of homophobic or racist signs. That will come tonight or tomorrow.
